Happy Saturday from Sinus Attack, Indiana. Broke heat records on Monday at over 90, then down to 70, 60, 50 and today it is 45. Time to bring the plant children inside.

Jayne, so glad your garage is done, what a job that must have been! You are really going to town on your cleanouts!

Catherine, I loved that sign for Kathy! I hope your DD enjoys her dog-sitting, although leaving doors open would make me nervous. And poor Honey :( I feel for you but glad you have a good vet who knows how to make her feel better.

We’ve had those monster spiders here as well, and they totally give me the creeps. There is one with black and yellow legs that insists on running a web from the recycle bin to the front of DH’s truck, and then it sits in the middle of the web, and I’m so afraid I am going to walk through that web and get that thing on me! YUCK.

DH is home from his trip. No one caught even 1 fish. DSS had some kind of radar unit that could show the fish were there, but was aggravated that they didn’t bite. After 4 days of sitting all day in a boat in high 90s heat, they were frustrated and came home a day early. I got so much done while he was done, and had no hot flashes OR headaches the entire time he was gone, and the day he came home, I got a headache. He said it must be him then. I have to admit, there ARE times, lol.

Dusty is happy her other peep is home. And she laid down in front of him last night instead of me and stared at him till he gave up and went to bed, lol.

Good morning, everyone!! Welcome home, Dagmar!

Good morning Kandie, sorry you have your sinus headache again. That's how the weather is in Wisconsin, too. Glad I'm not there or I would have sinus headaches too. That video of the weird bird was so funny! Loved it.

Kathy, I made another stained glass panel card last night! My moon turned out more yellow than gold, but I may try again. I mixed silver stickles glitter in medium for the stars. I may try gold stickles for the moon next time.

Hope you get a good night's rest Ann!

Kathy, just like Ann said, those pandas are so adorable!

I'm going to a flea market/craft sale tomorrow and try to sell some of my cards. It was only $5 for a table. The new owners of a restaurant/bar are going to host this sale every Sunday in October. So, I thought I'd give it a try...the price was right.

Good morning! Gracie, good luck with your sales, and let us know how it went!

Busy busy busy yesterday. DH and I had gone to an estate sale the day before and bought a couple of small things. Later, he said he might go back yesterday when everything was 50% off and buy two old tables he’d seen in the basement. I mentioned that I’d seen a lovely wood album storage table I’d like to update. So we went back yesterday and got all three. Projects for next year!

Have you ever been somewhere where people showed no regard for anyone else? Driveways clearly marked yet people parking their cars in front so no one can get in or out? DH was trying to back his van into the estate house driveway and some idiot pulled in front of him and parked across it. I waved my arms and everything but the woman just got out of her car, looked at me, and walked by to go to the sale. So I stood there, and when she left, I walked into the street and stood like a statue, blocking anyone else from parking by the driveway. I got several nasty looks and waving of hands but darn it, DH is too old to carry three heavy wood tables two blocks to his van. He was finally able to pull into the drive and load up, (he’d kept driving around the block), and the minute he pulled away, another idiot almost hit him pulling in to block the drive again. Some people!

Time to put away all the outdoor furniture into the pretty back porch. :(. I’ve started moving plants indoors. DH is going to set me up a grow table in the basement for the ones I can’t find homes for. Oh my, my she-shed is being put away for the winter!

Morning!!

Kandie, wow more work for next year!! But you do fantastic at redoing tables!! Sorry you had to put up with terrible people! They just don't think!

Gracie, what a great price, go for it!! Hope you get some sales!!

It's sunny today but cool. DH has to close up the pool today! Hate the thought of winter coming! I don't mind the cold but when the roads are bad from all the snow that's what I hate for driving!

Good morning!

Sis, Kandie and Ann, thanks for "good luck" wishes on sale today. I'm not expecting much because it's a tiny town and the first time they are having the sale. The weather is beautiful, 70's and sunny, so I'll enjoy visiting with people anyway! I"m off! Have a great day!

We removed all window AC's and I put the electric blanket on our bed! Today is the vegetable soup cook out but its damp and rainy so we may end up in the garage.

I made a cute box that I cased from Gloria Plunkett. She has such fun tutorials.

Hello all! I am so late to the party. There are too many pages of chatter to catch up on (I tried). Welcome Dagmar and Shelly!

Ann - have you sent out a new alpha list? I have not seen it in my inbox if you have.
Life has been so busy here that I have not had time to get on my computer except to pay bills. The first month back at school was very busy as it always is teaching preschool. I have also squeezed in lots of snuggle time with my beautiful new grandson. I have missed chatting with all of you and will try to catch up a little more as today goes on.

Hello, Annette, so good to hear from you!

Ann, cool and sunny here as well. DH is painting the hallway so we can see how the light blue will look in the rest of the living room. I’m bringing in plants and piling up outdoor furniture on the back porch. Wow, closing pools, taking out A/C units, putting electric blankets on the beds, I’m not dreaming, it really is October and cold weather on the way. The snow is pretty, but we both really do hate having to put on coats and hats and boots before we can go anywhere. Yuck

Oh Kathy, I do believe I can smell that vegetable soup from here!

Have not sent out the new listing yet. Was waiting to hear from Lynn and Liz if they would like to be on the list.

So Lynn and Liz do you wish to be listed on the Alpha Crew list?

Good morning! Yesterday was a busy day with the family. I think today we are going to go see the Downton Abbey movie as a celebration of my birthday tomorrow. We'll do it today because DH and DD1 have work tomorrow. I actually do too but haven't decided if I'm going to work or not. I might just take the day off, the reason I haven't decided is our church secretary is on vacation so I have to cover her work plus my own and missing a day might not be worth it.

Congrats on finishing your garage, Jayne. That is fantastic! My garage is still waiting that kind of attention.

Kandie, DD2 loves doing this house sitting job. I would be nervous about her leaving the door ajar for the dogs to go in and out except that we are out in the country and not only is this house in the country, it is up a private road up the hill and the dogs are two big dogs.

Sorry your DH didn't have a successful fishing trip, hopefully they enjoyed their time anyway.

Wow to your weather too.

The weird bird video is too funny!

Ann, is it warming up there? I would think your dogs wouldn't be shedding too much this time of year.

Kathy, those pandas are adorable!

Gracie, I hope your craft sale goes well, yes, $5 is a great price. I'm sure you'll have fun visiting with people. Who knows, maybe there will be a great turnout as it is something new to do!

Vickster, your birthday card is currently under construction on my craft table.

Kandie, I am amazed at people's lack of regard for others. If we would all practice the golden rule, the world would be a better place. In the situation at the estate sale, those people were so concentrated on getting in there and getting a good deal, that they didn't consider anyone around them.

No more pool for the season, Ann, I'm happy for winter to arrive, but, of course, winter here is much more mild.

Kathy, I've been trying to decide if it is time to put my flannel sheets on for the season but haven't done so yet.

Welcome back, Annette!

It looks like the party will be in the garage. Its been drizzling rain all morning so we will light a fire in the furnace and if that doesn't take the chill off, I can always plug my bullet heater in. The side where mom usually parks the car is clean and swept and no smells of cats. That was my worry, but my sensitive nose couldn't smell a thing! Yay. I will take things up a little at a time. The soup is still on my stove but as time gets closer, we will carry it up and put it on the heater. I'm cooking it in a turkey fryer so there's a small grill that the kettle sets on.

I don't use flannel sheets, catherine. I have trouble tossing and turning with them. I also cannot wear a dress type PJ for the same reason. I wear a two piece, which makes rolling much easier. And nothing flannel in PJs either.

I'm going to walk up to the garage with my small table and get a fire going in the furnace.

When we heat with the wood stove, it gets the living room almost too warm but the heat doesn't make it down the hall to DD2's bedroom and our bedroom very well, so the bed is icy cold with regular sheets, flannel sheets are wonderful for that. When we had the waterbed, we didn't need flannel sheets. I sure miss my waterbed!

Perhaps we can get a class action lawsuit going about thin mints...LOL

That's why I have an electric blanket. It warms the bed before I climb in. Today is a bad pain day. I just wrapped my knee to see if it helps with the leg pain and I have my copper gloves on because my hands hurt too. I don't think the copper does anything. I wear them because they are tight and that feels good. I have chairs set up, table set up, the furnace fire is started. Next I will take up the paper goods, crackers rolls and butter.

Heating paraffin wax to try a hand treatment!! Will take 120 minutes to melt! Will let you guys know who it feels for my arthritis. The chiropractor recommended it for my hands!

Have any of you tried this type of treatment?

I have a parafin wax bath for my hands. Its feels really good and leaves your hands conditioned because the wax is greasy. Just make sure to do one hand at a time so you can scratch your nose or what's ever else comes up. I dunk my hands about three to four times for a good coating and peel it off after it doesn't feel warm anymore.

Kathy, what brand did you purchase? And can you recommend a soft fragrance?

I got the Revlon unit off of Amazon, but the smell of the wax is sort of overpowering. It's a rain scent!

Going to have to look into a different wax. It's still heating!!

Mines in the back of the hall closet right now and its hard to get to I'll check it out in the morning, but I know I bought it at Walmart and I think it is by Homemedics. The wax really doesnt have a scent as far as I can tell, and my nose is super sensitive.

I have allergies to a lot of scents and use an unscented wax in mine. I can't remember where I got it though.

Well, I just have to chime in about flannel sheets. I used to love them and flannel nightgowns too. I used to sew my own flannel nightgowns.....Now with all the heat off and on I am still getting, they are just a fond memory. I was thinking of buying some flannel sheets again though anyways just to see if I can handle it.

Catherine, that thin mints thing is funny!

Kathy, I hope your event went well. Sorry the weather did not cooperate!

Hi Annette and all!

We went to my 50th high school reunion last night. It turned out pretty good. About 120 of us were there. We had a large graduating class of over 300. About 60 have passed on, which is always sad to hear about.

Good evening everyone. So much chatting today!

Funny about the thin mints Catherine! Hope you got to see the movie today for your birthday.

Kathy, I hope your soup party went well! It sounds yummy! I can't use flannel sheets either, because I feel like I can't roll over easily with them on the bed.

Ann, let me know how the wax works for your hands. My arthritis is better here in Arizona than it was when it was cold back in Wis.

Kandie, hope you didn't overwork today with all your "winterizing" projects. How did the light blue paint look?

Welcome back to the chatting Annette.

Hi Shirl, glad you got to see so many people at your 50th class reunion.

Well, my sale went pretty well. There weren't very many people today, but I did sell $40 worth of cards. One lady, who was selling some craft items at the sale, bought quite a few cards. I had some requests for Christmas cards, too. It was fun visiting with the women. There were only 5 of us selling stuff. So I think I did pretty good. My cards were priced from $2 to $5 each.

Congrats, Shirl on the 50th reunion. Sad that so many are now gone.

Gracie, congrats on the sale!! Sounds like you had fun!! Just getting out is good!! So what are you buying with your big sales? More crafting supplies?

Hi Annette! Nice to see you here!!

I purchased the Revlon paraffin wax system and did not like the rain scent that came with it. However, it did make my hands very soft and felt great on the locking joint in my left thumb!! So I emptied the stinky stuff out, which was a big hassle, my youngest son helped me, and ordered some vanilla scented wax. Suppose to be a very light smelling fragrance.

I'll say it is a very messy thing to do but does feel good for arthritis hands.

Saying happy birthday already to Catherine, so I do not forget for tomorrow!! Happy Birthday Catherine, hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Thanks for the info on the paraffin wax, Ann. I may have to try that, especially on my right hand. As for my money, I spent 1/2 of at craft sale for lunch and bought a cool woven & iron sleigh to put a couple of poinsettias in on my porch, and a bought a metal tray thingy I thought was cool. The women selling were our own best customers! LOL

Default Hello

Victoria- Happy Birthday to you!

Jayne- way to go on your sorting!!! Sounds like you accomplished alot!

Catherine- how cool to see a praying Mantis- we rarely see them here! Glad your DD has a job for 2 weeks in a home where you know and she can care for the pups!

Kandi- so sorry DH had a non- productive fishing trip...! Funny that the pup will stare at hubby now and not you!!! And, sorry you got a headache once he arrived home....

Kathy, I love your bird and panda video's= so adorable!!! Hope you have the signs and symptoms to watch for foot drop- having to move your leg yourself- scary!!! Sounds like you make delicious soup!!!

Gracie- what is the name of your Arizona city? Wishing you luck on your card sale!!!

Kandie, crazy how inconsiderate people were at the sale you were at!!! Sounds like the items you got were at great prices! I so love shopping estate sales!
Ann- sounds like you are busy- and no to turning on the heat here as well!!! We are south of you, so you have more will power than us!

Hello Annette- I am a newby here! Although, not new to SCS

We drove into Chicago tonight- about an hour or so, to visit our daughter #1. She has rheumatoid arthritis and is having a flare, so missed work today, although, she did have lunch out with a friend, so not so bad! We visited with her pup and went for a great walk on the 606 trail, which is close to where she lives.
She is a teacher in a Charted school, but also works at Starbucks on the weekends : )

We did OK at our sale, and had the prices set pretty low just to clean out 'stuff'. We have St Vincent De Paul coming in the AM, and have put a few things they will not take on Freecycle- already have a couple of thing picked up from the porch from that.

Shirl= a class reunion sounds so fun! We have had many pass on already! It is really crazy to see how young so many pass on- breast cancer, AIDS, etc..... I am from a class of 200 ish and already also have 30+ passed on already! Hope you had a great time!
We have 3 classmates who have had heart transplants- still with us- isn't that crazy?

Waving hello to all!

Shelly

Soup was a big hit. Made enough that DH can take a crockpot full to share at work and I have a bowl for us too.

Walking Dead season premiere was tonight. I don't know why I love that show, but I do!

Thanks Shirl.

Kathy, that cracks me up that you like the Walking Dead! LOL I hate gory, scary stuff but then again I love reading about true crime and serial killers. It just makes me wonder how they become killers. So strange.

Hi Shelly, we live in Payson, AZ and my sale was in the little town of Star Valley only 5 miles away.

Goodnight Ann!

Good Morning,

I wish you a good Monday. Sun is comming out right now, so I have to go to my garden to get it ready for winter. My garden is not near the house, so I take my bicycle to get there.

Yesterday I made hokaido pumpkin soup, yummy. So today no cooking for lunch.

So lets ride the bicycle, by for now.

Good morning all! And, probably good afternoon or evening to Dagmar. I hope you had a lovely day at your garden. That soup sounds yummy.

I'm heading out to my Monday volunteer craft group. Going to make Christmas ornaments for our Christmas sale.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
