and as far as Copic? LOL anybody have a list of the names with HEX or RGB codes?
One of the main reasons I did a complete reprogramming of the site was to make it easier to administer, update, etc...
In that - with any list (pref Excel) of Color Names and HEX/RGB codes it would take me under a half hour to setup a Lab similar to the SU and CTMH ones..
(they all use the same front end now...)
Let me know.. That or try to twist InkyFingrz arm and see if she will be a good sister and do the research...
Calling all SCS techies for Copic HEX/RGB codes on Copics. If you possess the ability to do this WOW....what a resource that would be to have a Colorlab for Copics.
Karin has an RGB colour guide on her blog here also
Awsome list... I was able to convert that list to HEX... Only question: That list has 322 colors on it... Copic has 334... Right?
Going to do a search now to see if there is a 12 pack/new colors that may not be on the list...
If anybody knows what they are give a shout...
As for the Copic ColorLab - I can get a site up fairly fast using the existing colorlab template... There probably will be a few quirks and limitations in the beginning... (just because of the number of colors and how the combinations are used...)
To really do Copic justice will take a seperate lab design.... Until then I will try to get the basic Copic colorlab up in the next day or so...

The "Current Colors" and "All Colors" are the same thing...
Also when working with all copic colors the Surprise button may take a second or two (it randomizes from the 334 colors)
Inkyfingrz already gave some insight on future changes (to allow shading etc..) feel free to offer more suggestions... It will be just a while before i can really dig in to the possibilities with Copic (shading etc..)
*** Let me know if anybody has issues with the voting or selecting swatches from the search results sections of the colorlab... It was buggy but a quick fix should have corrected it..

Anywho...
Enjoy!

Checked out the site and it looks like a cool tool for us Copic lovers. Thank you George. I assume it requires some feedback from users to enter in our favorite color combinations to populate the database to get it started. Is that correct?
Okay so if anybody offhand has the Copic equivilent for:
Poppy Parade
Pear Pizzazz
Old Olive
Rich Razzleberry
Real Red
.... I have reasearched numberous formulas and they have slightly different results.. Just trying to find which is the closest ...
Hmmm The Delta CMC formula is SOOO close to being accurate...
I will give Delta 2K a try... If that doesnt work I am running low on options (other than to say that its mathematically impossible to match ALL colors accurately...)

Yeah.. The database is completly created by user input...
As for SU to Copic combinations... Been fighting all night with different formulas...
FINALLY got one that gave me results of R27 for Poppy Parade (somewhere i saw R27 and/or R29... Mathematically speaking - R29 is not similar to Poppy Parade.. R27 got either 22 matches or 34 matches out of 100,000 possibilities.. ) ...
Really if I can find a weight (variables for the formulas) that comes close for poppy parade and concord crush i will be happy...
If I can get that.. I can get a utility for crossing product lines up...
I may have a few Proof of Concept links up sometime this afternoon for that...
So question.. Someone posted Concord Crush was Copic BV08... I think V09 is closer to it... ?
LOL sorry to be blabbering so much.. Too many pots of coffee and i am determined to figure this formula out tonight... LMAO about to go wake sister up to get her copic markers out

Cool...I entered a bunch of known combos...Flourishes, Just Rite Stampers, PTI, Colleen Schann's combos and some from the gals over on Color Me Copic. That should get the database started.

Thank you so much. This has helped me already. I have so many combo charts in my files, but with all of them in Colorlab, it is easy peezey.
Okay so after hours of toiling away with different color spaces... The most promising is the Delta E 2000...
Out of an unruly number of permutations for the settings... These are the most promising..
Poppy Parade and Concord Crush are still not quite right... (They have been the bane of my existence for the past 12 hours..)
Below are the temporary Links to the possible results from various variables for the Δ 2K... Let me know what you think of them (which look good/bad) ..
This is amazing! You are surely going to get your wings this Christmas! I can't believe you have taken all this time to help us. Not everyone would spend so much time on a project of this magnitude. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
If they were not exact matches, I could do my Copic magic lol and make it work!
You rock!
Well... I ended starting programming with the D2k.php one...
I hope to have the color matcher up sometime in the next few days..
Because none of the formulas produced an great matches for 'all' colors, I am adding in a feature that users can suggest corrections (essentially a voting based ranking) ... (users will be able to choose to view results with member suggestions or just based on mathematics)...
So lets take poppy parade for instance: The first visitor(s) to the site will be presented with the mathematical match (which although mathematically correct - it doesn't look the best)... Once any of those visitors suggests a new color - the suggested match will be the default result...
Now because of variations, users will be still be able to suggest alternate matches.. Say between R27 and R28 or whatever... The match with the most 'votes' / suggestions will be the match that is displayed by the default search.. All suggested matches will be available under a sub section..
LOL that may sound confusing but once i get the color matching lab done you will understand
The instructions probably need some jazzing up.. but the site is fairly intuitive...
& This is how I take a break! LOL <GRIN>
That and Santa doesn't pay for web hosting and soon my provider will say: I owe, I owe - so its off to work I go
Truthfully, I had not planned on doing this much work on the ColorLab sites at this time... Just wanted to redo the core code behind the ColorLab to make it run better...
Somehow that lead to the Copic lab.. which then lead to the ColorMatch lab... And in researching and building the ColorMatch lab I now have all the database info and formulas for a color theory lab...
So sometime in 2011 will probably be adding least two more labs: a color theory lab and a Copic color blending/technique lab... More if anyone suggests anything or we find inspiration...
