I am thinking of organizing all my embellishments by color, but I am trying to figure exactly what to include. Do you have everything seperated by color, including things like stickles, glitter, shimmerz, flowers, brads, eyelets and ribbon or do you just have things like flowers, brads and eyelets together and then store stickles, glitter, ribbon seperately.
Does anyone have any pictures of what your setup looks like?
I organize by color but keep items separate too. For instance, Stickles are stored differently than flowers but both are in color order. Does that make sense? You can look at several post here that may help:
The only items in my color bins are embellishments (ribbon, brads/eyelets, alphabets, flowers, etc). Paints, stickles, markers, etc are all in their own little area. I hope you find something that works for you! I have to say I love the color bin system!
I have large bins with inks, ribbon, brads, embellishments,
everything except paper in them.
I recently did this as opposed to having different types of items stored together.
I have been able to create new projects, quickly and easily with this method
and clean up is a breeze.
I copied a system similar to what Nichole Heady showed a long time ago on her blog (Capture the Moment)--I have plastic boxes- one for each color- and keep flowers, brads, bling, etc... all organized by color. I have different boxes to organize things such as glitter, distressing tools...I put the Stickles in with the glitter box. I find organizing by color is gREAt and makes crafting faster-much easier to find things. If you check the archives on her blog-I am sure there are pictures--she also lists the categories that she organized her tools into, glitter, paints, adhesives, ...etc.
I use the Iris 12x12 project boxes - one for each color (red, blue, green, pink, etc). In the boxes are:
embossing powder & paints
note cards
a plastic divider box with buttons, eyelets, brads, safety pins, clips, etc/
Jewels and Pearls
and anything that I don't store separate (see below)
Separate Storage (stored by color but not in the project box)
Ribbon
Stickles and other similar mediums
Stickers and Rub-ons
Flowers
Pencils, pens, markers, chalk
Mists
I also store embellsihments by categories instead of colors (asian, baby, weather (stars, moons), etc.). I would never be able to remember if a star is red or yellow so I keep these kinds of things grouped together. What is in the Weather box are star brads, star buttons, moon buttons, snowflakes, etc.
I resisted making the change and now I wish I had done it sooner. I use more of my goodies and clean-up is a snap. Love it!!
