Default A question about the layers feature...

on Stretch Your Imagination. I have used my Cricut quite a bit but haven't used a lot of the features. I'm trying to cut out a snowman. How do I do the layers feature to get the scarf, hat, etc to fit the snowman? I've done it twice, once with real dial size on and once with it off. What am I doing wrong?

I really need to spend more time figuring out the different features on the Cricut!

Leave the real dial size off and keep the settings the same as the main element. So if you have the dial at 3" you leave it at 3" for all the layers as well.

Make sure you aren't using the shadow feature for the main element. That goes behind the finished piece if you want it. Also make sure you don't have shift-lock on otherwise if you are cutting the fat snowman you will end up cutting the layers for the tall skinny snowman instead.

Hope that helps!

That's what happened. I had the shadow feature for the snowman. Thanks! I still have so much to learn about all of the features.

I read the posts and see the pics of cards in the gallery and know that I'm missing out on a lot by not knowing what all I can do with the Cricut. Guess I just need to spend more time reading the posts to learn more! lol

I've had a blast with the vinyl. I've got several phrases up in my house. And yesterday I cut out a bible scripture to put on dh's Sunday School room wall. My son in law painted a mural on the entire wall representing the armor of God so I added the scripture with the vinyl letters. It looks awesome. Dh really liked that I did it with my Cricut.
