Can someone direct me - or explain to me the re inker techique that I have seen so often with the Fifth Avenue Floral Flowers? I understand that there is embossing involved, and re inkers - but that is about it!
Information on this technque would be very much appreciated!
In a nutshell...stamp and emboss an open lined image (like 5th ave rose) using white embossing powder onto shimmery white paper. Heavily mist the image with water. Use a water brush to drop waterbased ink refill droplets onto the image. The ink will spread quickly if the paper is wet enough. Add more drops and/or different colors as desired. Let dry (or carefully use a heat gun to speed things up) and cut out image.
Very quick, very fun. It does "work" on papers like watercolor paper, but the effect is more subtle. The shimmery white has a great coating and that fabulous glitter that shows through, and that really does make the whole thing pop...
we did this at the last SU party. so, stamp the flower on the shimmery white SU cardstock w/either white craft, or versamark, then emboss with white embossing powder. get your paper wet wet wet, yes, that wet! then use an aqua painter to pick up the few drops of reinker (we used a plastic lid, had three colors ready to go) and just put a little ink on the flower. the water will make it spread, and just put color where you want it. let it dry (we hurried it a bit with the embossing gun) and then cut the flower out.
i'm sure there's other variations, but that's how we did it, and it turned out GO-JUSS!
Just did these with my stamp club and we used silver embossing powder - it was very pretty. When you put the ink on they sometimes don't look that great at first but when it dries you really get a wow.
Thanks a lot!! I'm going to suggest to my SU demo that she give this a try at our next class. I might try it at home myself - but it looks so fabulous I had to find out how to do it! Thanks so much to all who have given me information!
