Most of us are familiar with the film version of "Cabaret." But did you know that there were several stage versions produced? In 1998, director Sam Mendes put together his own interpretation of "Cabaret" that included several changes to the original production and script. Most of those changes were a reflection of what was going on in the world politically and socially during World War II, the time frame of the story. In Mendes' finale, the Emcee character is on stage in an Emcee costume similar to that worn by Joel Grey in the film version - top hat, cane and tails. The Emcee's costume is stripped away (yes, the Mendes production was much more risque than the film version!) to reveal the black and white striped uniform worn by the Jews in the concentration camps in Hitler-occupied Germany.
My challenge for you is to duplicate the dramatic transformation from the widely recognized Emcee costume to the concentration camp uniform by creating a card using the Emerging Color technique. It's an easy technique, especially as described in Beate's tutorial, and makes for dramatic results. I can't wait to see the results of your Quick Costume Change!! I'll be right here in this chat thread to answer any and all questions that you might have about this challenge. IMPORTANT NOTE!: YOU DO NOT NEED A BRAYER TO COMPLETE THIS TECHNIQUE. I GOT MUCH BETTER RESULTS JUST USING A CRAFT SPONGE AND INK DIRECT TO PAPER. I FOUND WITH THE BRAYER THAT THE COLOR WAS TOO STREAKY. A SPONGE WITH INK WORKED MUCH BETTER. HOPE THIS HELPS!
Here are some current SU stamp sets that include the solid image/silhouette stamps that would work perfectly for this technique! You certainly are not limited to these stamp sets, but they are just suggestions to give you an idea of what will work best for this technique. There are lots of solid images out there, so use what you have!

I know everyone might be a little tired at this point, but keep playing, this is the last challenge - YOU CAN DO IT! If you can't remember you have until Nov 9 to play and upload!
Me, too, Mish!! I'm here for you all if you have any questions!! Remember, just because the tutorial says you need a brayer, YOU SO DO NOT NEED A BRAYER!! I used a craft sponge on most of my samples, and in one case I used my ink pad direct to the paper. Just smeared it on there, and it worked great!!
Love this challenge Karolyn! I like the ink pad to paper technique.

This may be the "final act" but it's worthy of an Encore! Fabulous, fabulous challenge, and I can't wait to do it... but it'll have to wait till the morning. I'm on the east coast and they just rolled up the sidewalks where I live. Time to get some rest! But I'll be finishing this up in the morning and will post tomorrow. I'm putting up pix of my other cards tonight.
Honey, if that's your one-armed work, I can only IMAGINE what your two armed work looks like!! A-MAZING, Kim, just beautiful. Botanical silhouettes are some of my most favorite images, and you have certainly showcased them beautifully here!! Thanks so much for playing!!

WOw... What an awesome challenge! I love it, but I am just way to tired to try it tonight! I have been up for alot of hours (almost 26) so I think I will wait until tomorrow when I feel like I dare play with my embosser without it becoming the bosser...
Here is my card for this challenge. This was a new one for me and I think it is okay. I just didn't have the patience to wait for the EP to cool before I started adding that ink. I don't make many cards where the word "wait" appears in the directions. That is not something I'm good at doing! lol

Oh gosh . . . you're absolutely right!! You need some sleep, Missy!! Sleep well, and we'll see you back here tomorrow!! Thanks for playing along with us and hanging in there until the end. What a trooper you are!!

That turned out beautifully, Michelle! I so love that color combination, and you've mastered this technique perfectly. Thanks so much for playing, and I truly hope you feel better soon. Thanks for hanging in there until the end, too. You seriously deserve an award for playing even though you're so sick. Feel better, sweetie!!
You all have been troopers. Get some rest and DO try this tomorrow. It is a fun thing to try. Thanks for playing tonight. Hope you had as much fun as I did.

Fabulous challenge challenge, Karolyn. Will upload my sample shortly. All 3 of yours are just gorgeous.
Thank you, JoAnn! And let me tell you - the three of you CO's have done absolute miracles tonight!! Holy cow!! This wouldn't have all come together and gone off without a hitch if it weren't for the three of you!! Thanks so much for all your hard work!
I just LOVE that card, Pat!! It reminds me so much of New Orleans on Bourbon Street! Wonderful color scheme, and seriously, I can't tell that you skipped any steps. You knocked this one right out of the park!!
