Default Embossing Powder

I've just recently started to emboss.

I have some clear SU powder... but wondering where to go from there.

Are there certain brands that people would recommend??

I am an embossing powder junkie! I get all my ep here:

www.creativeplaystamps.com

They have a good collection of top quality ep, good prices and excellent service.

My fav is made by Judikins. They have a detail clear I love to use with the craft inks.

I am new to embossing as well! I am finding that it's so fun to work with. I just went to a scrapbooking convention and found some wonderful embossing powders that are just beautiful. They are from the 'Powder Keg'...search for PK Glitz and you should find them. They are all custom mixed powders...some really great colors! Hope you find some you like...Have fun!

Powder Keg is awesome. They are nice and fine. One thing I have learned with embossing powder is that it comes in different textures. Some are much more fine than others. When you are going for detail, make sure your embossing powder is very fine.

A little thing I learned from Michele Zindorf's blog...Stamp with versamark and then your classic ink color, then use clear embossing power on the image. You don't need a ton of colors!

Detail (fine) powder for the detailed stamps, and the enamals are larger chunks. I use stampin up. My favorite is irridescent ice.

Since I started doing this, I seldom use a colored EP. This technique works great!

ILdyson76......Stamping with Versamark then a die ink would be redundant. I would suggest just using a pigment ink then your color embossing powder.

If you're using a clear embossing powder, that's when you would use the Versamark or a clear embossing ink.

Someone told me that if you have a problem in getting your embossing powder to stick, to mix in some clear embossing powder with it. I had problems with my black powder (Stamp Affair) sticking, and I had much better results when mixing in some Judikins clear embossing powder with it.
