It depends on the look I want. for a more pronounced "grungy" look, I distress the edged first and then swipe the stamp pad along the edge of the paper, pulling it in slightly from the edge. This gives a messier, random look. For a softer look, I use JudiKins color dusters. I pick up ink from the pad then starting off the paper (just like the other posters do with sponges), I apply the ink along the edges using a circular motion. This gives a much softer look. Good luck, and don't worry about ink on your fingers--that's half the fun!
