What do you use for glue when you want to control the placement and the amount? I am trying to find something to use on half pearls, small googly eyes, tiny things....... the super glue is just too hard to control and makes a mess of everything!! Help!
I use Crystal Effects for non-paper items. It has a small dispenser tip. If it gets clogged, I just use a small needle to open it so I don't create too big of a hole. Put drops of glue on the card, wait a couple minutes for it to become less liquid and then place the item over the glue.
But mini glue dots would be faster if they are small enough not to show.

I use Locktite super glue gel for all those things plus faceted jewels. I get the one where you squeeze the sides to control the drop. Works really fast!
I use Glossy Accents by Ranger. It is really a gloss to add dimension but it works as a glue as well. It also has a small tip. Do you apply the glue to the embellishment or to the paper? I feel like I have more control if I put the glue on the paper then the embellishment on top of it. Don't know if that works in all situations though!
Zig 2 way glue pen -- thin tip and you can control it very well. I am also very fond of Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue. I snip very little off the top so I can control the flow very well. This stuff is awesome because it grabs right away.

I also have the Zig 2-way for really tiny things. Just a little dot on the paper and it will hold something like a tiny flower punch-out. For stuff like faux dew drops, (kind of like your half-pearls) I use a little drop of my Tombow MonoMulti. If you are careful, you can just put a drop on at a time.

I find the mini glue dots are too big for most of the embellishments I am talking about. I do put the glue on the paper first - it is definitely much easier to handle. I will look into a couple of these suggestions. Thanks so much to everyone!
One trick I use if I can't put the item through one of my Xyron machines. Squirt a very small amount of glue on a piece of wax paper, or other smooth surface, then use a tooth pick to pick up just a very small amount of glue to apply to the object. Gives you very good control to apply the glue.
I think putting the glue on the object or directly on your surface is a matter of personal preference. What ever works best for you.
I use the tooth pick idea for all very small hard items. I actually learned this from doing quilling.
I use Beacon's 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue for a LOT of things. It has the small tip like the tacky glue and the CM glue pen, etc. and it grabs very quickly. But it holds heavy things, so I find it works for me better than the others when I have something like a yarn or a charm or whatever. It's acid free, clear and waterproof. The only thing is, it does "string" but I just swat the strings away once my item is set in place. I got it at JoAnn, I think.
The CM glue pen is my all time favorite for paper, though--it has a very tiny tip and I can get under the corners and edges of things, like when a mat starts to curl up (I'm a perfectionist ; 0)

For small, lightweight items I use the Quickie glue pen. For heavier items, I've really been using Ranger's Glossy Accents--the tips is very thin so I can squeeze out a little dot and it dries clear and glossy so you can't see it under things like dew drops.
