Cricut cutting mat

OK - I am hoping someone can help me out - I skimmed the posts in the Cricut chatter but didn't find my answer (maybe I skimmed to much)...

so I bought cutting mats but the paper doesn't want to stick down...I smooth it out and make sure it is stuck - load the paper, type in and start cutting...

then the paper starts to move around so I don't get a good cut and have to start all over...

doesn't matter which type of paper - thin printed paper or cardstock...

do I have to keep buying mats in order for the paper to stick down...is there some sort of temporary spray adhesive I can use to make the mat sticker? I am putting the plastic sheeting back over the top when not it use.

I will say so far I have only used the upper right hand portion of both sides - I rarely put in a full 6x12 sheet of paper because I only need to cut a few things at a time...or I have to switch paper based on what I am cutting out (the darn thing got a great workout when my daughters were doing their school project on Animals...thank goodness I bought the Animal Cartridge...)

I tried using it yeterday with a new mat - cut the first one fine but switched papers to cut out more letters and on the third letter the paper moved so it wasn't stuck down anymore and I had to recut a few letters.

Is this normal - should I just stock up on mats when they go on sale...is my blade dull??? is the blade not set to the right height? (I usually have it on a 3 or 4 when I am cutting thin paper...to the max when I am cutting SU cardstock)

It sounds like maybe you got a bad set of mats. The one that came with my new Expression machine was like that. I didn't use it THAT much and the tackiness was gone. I opened a new set of mats and the new mat works much better.
