After looking through the new Hero Arts catalog, there are a lot of clear stamp sets that look wonderful. I am wondering: with PaperTrey Ink stamps being a "10", how would you rate the HA clear stamps? Do they take different inks and stamp as nicely as PT? I would love to hear your experiences with the HA clear stamps. My Roberts store is carrying some HA sets, and I can get them 40-50% off with a coupon.
Thanks.
I have many sets of Hero Arts as well as Stampendous Perfectly Clear. MSE, Doodlebug Design and Papertrey...just to name a few. They all stamp AWESOME. I am weird but before I buy clear stamps that I am not familiar with... I smell them..LOL the good ones have this certain smell. they all smell the same..but cheap ones like Studio G or Autumn Leaves do not smell like that and do not have the same texture and do NOT stamp like a 10.
HA clear stamps are very good stamps. I used many different sets over the Xmas holidays using different types of ink, pigment and dye (Memories, Versamark, Archival Brilliance) on different brands of paper, Bazzill, glossy metallic and plain ole copy paper and did not have a single bit of trouble with the stamps. Clear image every time, exactly where I wanted it! Go forth and SPEND!

Difference in the smell is the difference between an acrylic stamp and a photopolymer stamp. Photopolymer stamps are of a much higher quality than acrylic stamps...manufacturing process is different, in addition to the supply used to make the stamp.

It's the old story...you get what you pay for!
Thanks for this info. I always wondered what the difference was.

I am picky about my clear stamps and have been extremely pleased with the one's I just purchased.Definitely a HA fan! Takes any kind of ink well and holds its shape, etc.
It's always so smart to do a search here on SCS before asking a question lol
After looking at clear stamps for two days on ARTS, I was gonna ask which manufacturer everyone would recommend ;) My head is/was literally spinning from looking at so many!
I've only bought Papertrey (two sets) and some cute penguins off a gal here in the BST (but have not used them yet...) so I had no idea which line to buy from otherwise....
Hero Arts and Stampendous have some darn cute sets!
I just purchased my first set of clear stamps the other day and it happens to be from Hero Arts... their new Bird Branch Alphabet set. I don't have any acrylic blocks yet, I'm waiting for my order to arrive, but wanted to test one of the stamps from the set right away, so I stuck one of them on my ruler and the image stamped perfectly... I think the quality of the stamps must be pretty good.
I do have a question of my own concerning the Hero Arts clear stamps. I was surprised when I pulled the stamp off the plastic packaging they come in and the black outline of the image remained on the plastic. I was expecting the stamp to have the black outline on it, to use as a guide. Is this normal ???

Perfectly normal. It shows you where to put the stamp back when you're finished. Enjoy your new stamps!

Thanks Anne! I figured that was probably the case, but just wanted to double check. Once I get my credit card paid off... LOL... I'm going to try Paper Trey next!
I never realized what huge quality differences there are in the clear stamp market until a recent purchase. I picked up an adorable set of stamps by some obscure company at my LSS.
When I inked them up, they stamped like a blob of jello, totally unusable. My 2 year old has a lovely new stamp set to play with! hehe
I'll be a more careful consumer where clear stamps are concerned!

ROTFLMBO!!!
I'm sorry--I am about to bust, I am ROTFL so hard! But, it's TRUE!!! I smell 'em, too!!!
I had given some A Muse clear stamps to a friend of mine, and the first thing she did was SMELL 'EM!!! And, she got this dreamy smile on her face, and she looked at me, and said, "Oh, yeah, baby. These are the good kind!"
OK, am I the only one who thinks they smell sweet? Kinda like candy??? The good ones, I mean?

CANDY?!!! I'm leaving to smell my stamps right now... LOL! :-D
There are scented embossing powders on the market... why not scented stamps too!
I'd like to buy some of the new Hero Arts clear stamp sets. Where did you buy yours?
Connie, I have to tell you this! I clicked on a link to Michelle at Stampersdream last night and placed an order at 11pm Pacific. When I got up this morning, there was a ship notice already in my Inbox. WOW! Now THAT'S 5-star service in my book, lol!

I bought all 12 of the "month" sets from Hero Arts at JoAnns last week. They are normally 9.99 but were on sale 40% off plus my "educator's discount" which brough them to a little over 5.00 a SET! (Each set has 9-11 stamps in them)
i thought i was the only ones to smell my clear stamps.
my gel a tins are my favorite smelling ones.
one reason why i moved my stamping space from the computer family room. so dh couldnt see me smell my stamps.
