monogramming questions

I have a couple of questions. I bought some mens hankerchiefs and want to monogram them. Here are my questions.

1. Do you put both the first and last intial? Or do you just use the last initial?
2. what ink do you use that will not wash or smear? I remember reading that Nichole from papertrey said she accidently found out that hybrid palette ink works on clothing. Or any other suggestions. Also do I have to heat set the ink?

For men's handkerchiefs, I would go with only the last initial. Can't help with the ink question, but I'm sure someone will know.

Thank you! I have the new Papertrey monogram stamps and I think it will look very classy with just one initial. Hopefully someone has some ink ideas.
