I made my first inchie (backed onto a 2" piece of chipboard covered with DP). I covered the whole thing with crystal effects and put the magnet stripping on the back. It is holding up a 4x7 picture on my fridge. And so cute!!
These would be so great for stocking stuffers. I wish I could take a picture, but my camera just died. I saw these on a few blogs...Debbie Olson and Trudee Sauer have some awesome inchies created. They are too cute. And you can use them on cards too. Always something new in the stamping world! I was never one for ATCs, so maybe inchies will be my thing!

That's why I backed mine onto a 2" punched out square of covered chipboard. I did have to use more magnets, though. And I found some flowers from Papertrey that fit exactly on a 1". Then I recently just did a 1" and used a sunflower from PaperTrey. So cute. I'm covering my fridge and taking down all my hideous fridge magnets! I think it takes a bit of practice, cause mine don't look to perfect around the edges. Have to practice on that part.
This is the first time I have heard of these. I too, wonder what i can do with 1" square. Is there a gallery folder for these? I guess I'll just search for the keyword?

I hardly ever get to post to my blog but I have a set on there from a recent swap I did. I love making them. Take a look if you like. The picture doesn't show the stickles and other bling too well, but it's there;
inchies are a lot easier than you think. Don't let the small area intimidate you it really takes much less time to make 3 to add to a card or scrapbook page than it would to do 1 large image. Because you usually have to colour and mat it also. The gallery here on SCS is a fabulous one and check some of the swaps. There are links to so many wonderful projects. Try them.. you will like them...go ahead..just one..can't hurt.... Oh sorry, that was my evil twin 'inchie pusher' coming out. LOL
okay...I feel stupid! I went and looked at the pictures, but am I missing something? Is is just a 1" image stamped??? It's not early, it's not Monday, and I'm not blonde....I am just slow today!!! ;)

No, you are not missing something!! That's exactly right, your "canvas" for an INCHie is one square inch! Or round inch as the case maybe. I've been looking at these for awhile, infact have a dozen white inchies on my craft table waiting for ink! Karen

I've actually tried a few "not-quite" inchies using the size punch I do have and it's actually less intimidating to color in a stamped image that is that small! I'm having so much fun making them!!
You must try them!!! Everyone has supplies to get started, so you don't need to buy something new. Just pull out your favorite stamp and select a portion of the image using a little clear acetate square. Move it around on your stamp image until you find just the right spot and then stamp and cut that portion out for you Inchie. Add some words, tiny embellishments and then just remember to initial your inchie with the smallest of letters. When trading we recommend that you start a journal. As you receive an Inchie from a friend write a number on the back and then put it in your journal along with the name of the person who gifted it to you. You can do a collagey look, or keep it simple and place it on the front of a card. Put a magnet on it, or a pin. Place them in a frame or set them on a scrabble tile holder. The possiblities are endless!!! Most importantly just have fun!!!
Have not looked at them yet, but it sounds as if they are similar in shape to the serendipity squares - but with serendipity, you make the whole page and then cut into 1 inch squares, if I am remembering correctly. With inchies, you make each tiny one individually, is that correct? How fun. I have the CM one inch square shape punch so can do this...and have lots of self stick magnets from some set of something I bought years ago...
Laurie, that's the basic idea. Do a search for "inchies" in the gallery and you'll get some hits...there are some great ones in the gallery!
My only problem is that since I'm not usually a huge fan of coloring, I don't have many images that I can color in. Now, of course, I want some! Especially some of those beautiful Lockhart stamps!
ok, this is a new idea, and the first I've ever heard of *inchies*. Sounds like fun. I remember getting the 1-inch square punch, and it sits in the drawer very lonely. Now I have a new life for it! thanks for sharing this awesome idea.
Now, all I need to do is get some ideas to use them once I get them stamped!!

Thank you everyone- now that I have read all the wonderful info and seen the beautiful examples I guess I will just have to try my hand at some...good thing it is a long weekend!
I'm also having one of those slow days. But, can someone help me understand what you do with inchies? Just collect them? Or do they have some other function? I'm sure this is a dork question, but....

I make mine out of chipboard.I cover the chipboard with DP or I paint it white, then stamp on it. You can color with Crystal Effects mixed with re-inker to get really cool effects.
You do not have to use chipboard....since I make magnets, that is my preferred material. You can simply use cardstock for an inchie.

I have read on some of the inchie swaps that the inchie needs to be sturdy - does cardstock qualify as sturdy - or does it need a littlemore? I'm really tempted to try these - since I have an abundance of images that didn't quite make the grade......but have atleast a 1 inch section that would work!
