I have both the Craft spots (3 families) and a Classic spot (soft subtles). They both work fine for me when watercoloring. I just wipe a little ink on the inside of a yogurt lid and lift with wet brush. The reason I have both types is b/c I ordered the soft subtles way before the others. I didn't know there were different types at that time. The IN Colors are all Classic and I don't have a problem with those either.
I've used craft (pigment) inks cause that mostly all that I have. It's a little bit harder to make the ink move around. I think the dye (classic) inks will feather and move better. I'd say the most important thing for getting good results with watercoloring is the paper. Watercoloring paper is best.
