I just bought a leather scrapbook because it was onsale.. it is probably just the imitation leather ykwim.. anyways.. its an pale pink and I want to decorate the cover.. Would acrylic paint work or?? what should I do.. could I cover it with patterned paper using modge podge??
I wouldn't use acrylic paint -- it might chip off. And, I don't think I would use mod podge, either.
I would recommend StazOn ink with stamps or other alcohol ink techniques. You could probably also use ribbons, as long as you used a very strong glue, such as Crafter's Pick.

if you want to paint, use some gesso first - its a primer used on artist canvas & works real well as a primer on other surfaces as well....no guarantee, but a much better chance of your paint not flaking. for adhering stuff, i would try gel medium. it's a type of artist grade 'paste' for lack of a better term. good luck ;)

I usually just tie ribbons or fibers around the front cover of the album and maybe add a tag or stamped metal tag. It adds a little something easily and you don't have to worry about stamping (or painting) on the album.
