Default How to do watermark

I've seen the watermarks on the cards and just wondered how you go about doing that and what are the rules for what you put in your watermark?

Thanks Jovi. After reviewing that thread I have to admit I didn't realize it was so complicated. I do not have any of the programs mentioned and wondered if I could do it either in the Microsoft Paint program that came with my computer or Microsoft Publisher. I really don't want to download a special program just for this.

I was wondering that too. I do have Photo Elements and the directions were still confusing. I love Publisher and was wondering if there was a way to do it on there as well. Anyone know?

Is Photo Elements the same as Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0? That's what I have and can't figure it out! I've resorted to adding text only in my camera software (Zoom Browser EX). It accomplishes the same thing just doesn't have that ''watermark'' look, (transparent)

Just wanted to report back that I figured out how to do a watermark with the microsoft paint program. Actually I used Publisher to type what I wanted the watermark to say and then copied and pasted it on my picture/scan in the paintbrush program. If your interested, let me know and I will type up the instructions. It's late and I gotta go to bed but I wanted to play around with it for a while.

Yes... I think so.

Just wanted to share with y'all the method I "discovered" tonight... I used PhotoShop Elements 2.0, so I believe this would work as long as you use a PhotoShop program.

Open a new file and just use the text button in the palette to type out what you want your watermark to say. I did my name first, then added a separate line for the "Some Images C Stampin' Up! 1990-2007" so that I could adjust how closely the two were spaced.

When you like what you see, go to Edit --> Define Brush. You should see a dialog box says "Brush Name"... you can just leave that default name. Click OK.

Now open one of your card pictures. Your watermark is now a paintbrush and can literally be STAMPED onto the image!

Some cool things you can do:

1. To achieve the watermark look we all crave, change the opacity of the stamp - lower it to anywhere between 45-85% on the toolbar just above the image and the watermark will blend in a little more.

2. Use the eyedropper tool in the palette to select a color from your card photo - the stamp will then appear in that color... like a whole SU! palette at your fingertips!

When you're done, simply save the watermark file as a jpeg. When you want to use it again, open it, and repeat the Edit --> define brush steps above.

HTH - I had fun with it!

Default My method......

I also have Photoshop Elements 2.0. But on a Mac. Some steps may vary.

Here's what I did.

... open a new page
... select the type tool
... type your information
... make sure you have what you want (after applying Effects you can no longer type)
... click on the Effects panel or tab
... in the little selection box, click on Text Effects
... select Clear Emboss
... click Apply

There's your watermark although it's very hard to see. You can create a colored layer behind the words so it's easier to see the Clear Embossed words.

Oh.... almost forgot. Give this item a name and save it in the same file where your save photos of cards.

Next time you are adding photos to your computer, open your watermark document too. Drag and drop the watermark from its page onto the photo and the computer will copy it there. (Or maybe you can do copy and paste)

Watermark using Microsoft Publisher or Word and Paint Programs

1. In Publisher or Word: Click on WordArt
2. Type your Wording for your Watermark
3. On the WordArt toolbar, click Format WordArt
4. On the Colors and Lines tab, select the colors you want and increase the transparency setting to at least 70%
5. You may have to stretch the image and use a size 36 font.
6. Save your document.
7. With the watermark document open click on the WordArt you created and type CTRL C (to copy)
8. Go to your image files.
9. Select your image.
10. Select the paint function.
11. Then type CTRL V to past your watermark on the image.
12. The image will not be opaque so you will have to go to the menu bar and select Image and on the bottom of the pull-down menu click on Draw Opaque. The image will be opaque and you can drag it place over your image where you want.

You can create the watermark in Paint but I don’t know how to save it to use on other images so it was easy to create it in Publisher and save it as a document so now when I need it, I can copy and paste it.

You can PM me if you have any questions.
