Okay, so I hate cutting rubber, because my scissors always end up making my knuckles bleed when I have bunches to do. But I love cutting rubber because it's the only way to play with new stamps. Quite a conundrum.
Well the solution has been sitting in front of me this whole time.
I threw in a pair of Kai Gold Scissors as a 50% off Hostess item on my last TAC order. I have no idea why I didn't get these sooner. They cut rubber like butter! They make it so so easy, and they make it easier to not undercut (always a problem trying to position my long bladed scissors).
If you don't have good rubber cutting scissors and have been wondering if they are worth the price- Oh my goodness they are.
This PSA brought to you by my non-bloody knuckles after cutting 5 sets of stamps (including the cutest penguins in the world)
Oh, I soooo totally agree. I can't believe anyone tries to cut our stamps with anything byt good rubber cutting scissors. Mine are from SU and they are great. I think Kai makes them, actually!

Yes. Worth every penny. I have the KAI ones. I got them from a girl who had two pair. They are just like the SU ones, I like Gina, think KAI makes the SU scissors and just has their name on them. They work so well and cut so nicely. The scissors were first used to cut Bonzai trees if that tells you anything. I also swear by them to cut chipboard. Works perfectly!
I totally agree, show people the difference cutting with other scissors they have, verses the kai ones and wow, I was sold on them as is everyone else I have shown them to.

Before I had the Kai scissors from SU I was using just regular Fiskars and had ordered many sets and by the end I was in so much pain and I actually did nerve damage to my thumb, it was numb down one side for over 2 months. So the moral of the story is to make sure you have good scissors to cut rubba. KAI from SU!!!!!!

Whenever people try my SU scissors, they always want them right away. They make cutting stamps an enjoyable part of stamping!

And I 've been readng here people saying - "I have to get another set because mine are getting dull"
Do you know you can have them sharpened? Something with the KIA brand in that they're not your typical scissor sharpener way, but there's a guy in CA I think - Circus Jim? You send your scissors with $5 cash and your name on them - he sharpens thema dn sends them back good as NEW!!!!!
I take extra scrap rubber to FunShops, along with regular sharp scissors and my Kais. I pass it all around and let the guests try them both. Then they get to feel the difference. I get to see it on their faces when they discover the difference! What fun!!!

Yeah, I've had my SU ones for several years and need to get them sharpened. I've been hesitating because I'm afraid I'll NEED them in the few days they're out to be sharpened, lol! Separation anxiety from my Kai's.
Does anyone know if there's a difference between the SU and TAC ones? I heard someone say at a funshop that TAC's are Kai gold and can be sharpened, SU's cannot, but it seems like a lot of folks send their SU scissors to be sharpened without any trouble. I need to get that guy's address!
Great new avi, Jess!! You look beautimous!

My husband has been sharpening my SU Kai scissors for nearly 4 years. I just bought my second pair about 6 months ago. I use the new ones for trimming stamps ad my old pair for cutting other sticky things (red tape, and so on.) I don't think there is a difference between the Kai's that SU sells and the "Gold" ones sold by TAC. TAC is just selling them under the Kai name, while Stampin' Up!'s are "branded" for SU!

I was just checking out the Kai Gold in the TAC catalog. The SU ones look exactly the same and YES they can also be sharpened. I've cut over 750 stamp sets in the past 6 years and have only used 3 KAI scissors and I have never had them sharpened. I usually just throw them away after I've cut 250 stamp sets and just invest in a new pair.

They are the same accept for the price!! :p TAC sells them for $26.95 while SU sells them for $19.95. There is no difference according to the KAI site, they only make one kind of rubber cutting scissors.

That's why I used one of my two 50% off hostess benefits to get them- they were only $13.48!
Thanks. I didn't realize they were the same. I was reading a previous post about TAC and I saw the Kai scissors mentioned. By the way it was worded it sounded like these were not the same ones SU carried. Good to know.
Smart to use your 50% item for those!! They sure are worth it, though!

If you go to his website (which I just did) and click on Scissors, you will go to the page of Kais that he sells. At the bottom in rather small letters is his information on his sharpening service. I am so glad for this information, as my trusty Kais need some reconditioning!

TAC demo #2239
And just yesterday with all my new rubbah to cut...can't find my scissors! AAAhh! It is SO hard to go "back" when you know the glory of a good pair of scissors, but I have to get my rubbah cut!
I held out on getting the SU! scissors until my demo lent them to me when I had a huge order of abc stamps. Wow! I bought them right away and love them. In fact, I'm cutting rubbah right now!
I don't get mine sharpened. There is a man on ebay who sells KAI scissors (identical to the ones SU sells) for $2.99. I just buy new scissors and use the old for paper and other things when they get dull after much, much use. He ships quickly too.

I love to hear this! I have been procrastinating about this scissors for way too long! I am hostessing this month at my stampers 10 group and am getting these for my benefits. I keep trying to talk myself out of them but, I know if I don't get them now with my credit, I will never take the plunge to actually buy them. You ladies have just re-inforced my decision...thanks!
