Question For those who went cling....

What does everyone do with the left over wood blocks - gosh I hate to toss them but I'm at a loss for any good uses. I tried searching the forum but couldn't find it quickly if (and I'm sure it has :???: ) this has already been covered....

TIA

I threw mine away- I know there's probably some great uses for them (kids building blocks, other crafts, etc.), but quite frankly, I went unmounted to have more room for stamps and supplies. So I didn't see a point in holding on to them. That being said, I know if you ever plan on reselling your SU stamps, you should keep the blocks for remounting. Their resale value decreases significantly if left unmounted.

What about selling them in one of the BST forums? (If that's allowed, of course) I know there are several people who like to split up images, and they need extra blocks. That way they wouldn't go to waste.

Yep - I just got a new order and I'm going to cling - started un-mounting my others and looked at my big pile of blocks and thought what a waste!! Specially since I "paid" for that wood LOL. You actually just gave me a great idea though - I have a new niece and I could stamp on the blocks to decorate her a girly set - maybe with some faces on one, shoes on another and dresses in the middle....hmmmm

Boyfriend has been into this whole 'whittling' thing (he was bored at an SCA event) so he used one of those...

I just bought a bunch of blocks from the BST forum. Don't throw them out! I'm one that mounts everything on wood!! I'm always in the market and am sure there are others out there just like me. ;)

I'm keeping my blocks and the plastic boxes they come in, just in case I want to sell the set in the future. I just put them in a bankers box and store it away in the back of the closet.

As a former kindergarten teacher I suggest donating them to your local school. I could have always used extra blocks in my classroom!

That's what I'm doing, too.

I made a stamp (background style) with trimmed rubber pieces and stuck them on one of my unused blocks.
The others I have in the back of my closet at the moment deciding what to do with them. If I can get some money from them to buy more stamps, now that would be great!

My dad and Spousal Unit have taken some off my hands for Garage Purposes. They also work well as kindling in the wood stove. I have kept some Backup Emergency Spares in all sizes, for the times when an incorrect-size block is included with a new set. That doesn't happen too often, but when it does it makes for great customer service to be able to fix the problem without having to go through the hassle of exchanging, etc. They also come in handy if you like to cut the saying apart from the image and either mount it separately or plunk it on the end of the image-block. A lot of times you can go down in size of the main block if you do that -- and sometimes it makes a difference in whether the new mountings will all fit in the original box. If a new set is a particularly tight fit in the box before the stamps are mounted, this can come in *very* handy! The selling and giving-away options are excellent, too -- I also hate to see perfectly good wood go to waste.

Happy trails....

Sue

Wow I was sure lucky that I had posted in the BST, thanks to one of the SU Demos suggesting me to do that. Otherwise the blocks would have been just sitting in the big bin in garage. I have been trading blocks for SU ink pads. Works for me!

Well another Great thing you can do with these as well is:
If you're a Camper: use them as firestarter.
Dh also uses them in his Wood Stove in the winter time for fire Starter. they would great!
