Default Which Monograms will you be buying and Why?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide which letters to buy during the big special next month. Other than letters for your initials (or family members), which monograms will you be buying and why? For example, someone suggested "S" for her grandaughters name and thought it would be good to scrap summer books (Sun) and Holidays (Santa). So, it got me thinking about what other letters could be used for creative scrap ideas. How about yours??

Wendy

How about a U for all of those U cards like I have seen, LOL -- U are wonderful, U suck, LOL.

L-O-V-E would be nice to put across a layout and you could put a picture inside the "O" --

A and Z for "A to Z"

I would look through your scrapbook that you are already working on see which letters would work on the pages you already made. It might give you an idea for what you would use in the future. I know I will be buying "F" for my wedding as it will be the first letter of my new last name! I could even buy the "E" and end up with the whole thing! I never thought about that before now...hmmm... (My new last name will be Fee...)
I was also planning on getting the "U" for the same reason as above. I think I could make it work with a lot of the sets I already have.

Thanks for the list. It will help me with which ones I need to buy. I am also trying to come up with ideas for words where a letter would be in the middle.(ie, J enJoy) Since my DH's first name starts with J.

what about using X and intentionally mispelling words for emphasis? like x-cellent, x-quisite, x-tra special, etc.

I won't be getting any either. Faux work just as well for me. I can buy more stamp sets if I don't get any monograms.

I'm not buying any either. I can print them out on the computer on the back of patterned paper or on the WhisperWhite and stamp a design or any color cardstock.

Default monograms

I thought about getting C and F for my kids, but I think I'll spend that money on other backgrounds instead and print monograms off the computer when needed.

I will be getting a couple of the CTMH alphabet solos when they come out in May. they are not as large as the SU! stamps, but they include words and other stamps to go with them. For example the 'T' also has 'thanks', 'thankful', 'terrific', 'treasure', 'you're so thoughtful', a tall flower with 'thanks' written several times down the side of the stem, and a few others with stuff like 'together', 'thank you so much', 'thank you for being you', and a heart. Each of the letters have different words and phrases beginning with the letter.

I am buying the K because all my kids have k names and I bought the E for my last name and the R for my husband's name. But I can also use the E for a cute Easter card I saw and the R for River vacations pictures in my scrapbook. I just ordered them and I can't wait to get them.

well after much thinking I don't think I will get any. they are cool and even make great knick knacks on your mantle. But I just can't see spending that much for ONE letter and they are hugh.

These do take up a bit of room. My sister, a demonstrator, gave me a tip. Mount the letter on the end of the wood block going "the wrong" way. Then used a radial arm saw and cut the wood block down-ends up being about half the size. If you do this you can fit 2 letters in each box and I think it is easier to place stamp where I need it aslo! Thanks SHelly!

Thumbs up monogram choices

I was also agonizing about which letters to buy and so I didn't buy any...then I realized that was what my customers were doing and I wasn't helping any..so I jumped in! I bought the "S" for smile, sympathy, sunshine, etc. It also happens to start my last name. I bought the "T" for thanks, terrific, etc. And finally, I bought the "W" because I realized it could double as an "M" if you turn it over. The "M" doesn't look as much like a "W" because of the little wings on the tips. And of course there is wonderful, wacky, wild, winner, etc and Mom, mystifying, marvelous, and lastly: "many wonderful things"!

Never thought of these ideas before. I wasn't going to order any b/c I couldn't come up with any ideas, and I didn't want them all. Now I will have to rethink.

I decided not to buy any. I already purchased several alphabet letters from the local scrapbook/rubber stamp store (brand -Anita's for $1.49 each). I am working on a heritage album and decided to do the first letter of each last name with a large stamp (half the size or maybe a little smaller than Stampin' Up). I already researched our family history so it was easy to see which letters I needed.

I held off getting these, then decided I need a few, they will ARRIVE TODAY! Very anxious!

This is a great thread..........lots of good ideas!

I ordered, H, U, W, & T!
H-happy birthday, anniversary, holidays, etc.
U-will use the "U" as it is used in the All About U set
W-our last name starts with "W", also for wishes(anniversay, birthday, holiday, etc., etc.).
T-thinking of you, thank you

I am going to get CTMH's mono alphabets - they have words and images to go with them

C- cool (mostly for a swap I am in)
L - love, and Low(last name)
K - first name
R - DH first name
Z - zoo

And because I am hopelessly addicted to stamping now all the rest eventually!

I love the font of the monograms but I have Wishblade so I didn't purchase any. I figure I would cut letters with Wishblade and ink them up. To be honest I think it's kinda ridiculous to spend $16.95 EACH letter. I would go stir crazy not having all 26 letters of them! haha Unless you gals give me some good reasons why I have to buy them, maybe I will! haha
