I went to a technique class where we did the same thing on puzzle pieces, it made really really cute cards for kid for a birthday. We used copper embossing powder, any metalic really looks great... I've also done this using black embossing powder and then filled in the impression with light coatings of pearl ex while it is still hot... I used this for halloween cards.
I wish I could participate in this, this is one of my favorite techniques.... but... my mom has my heat gun :(
I love that I live 5 minutes from my parents, just a phone call to find out never fear, I'm getting a visit from my parents and my heat gun will be returning! (I just have to attempt this challenge a little bit later)
Uuugghhh, my heat gun died on my 4th layer! Tried my impression on the 3rd but only part of it took so I tried a 4th! Oh well; I'll finish it when I can get my hands on another heat gun! (I even tried my hairdryer but it's not hot enough!); :(

I'm going to have to try this one another time :( Everyone is sleeping and my heat gun might wake up sleeping babies in my small house. I can't wait to try this new (to me) technique, though! Great examples!
This was so much fun! I have been wanting to try this, too. I borrowed this set from my friend while she is in Hawaii. What a great way for me to break it in!
Here's what I learned about this challenge.... when you are inking and embossing the cardboard, it's probably best to use the *plain* *brown* side of the cardboard... not the *pretty* *colored* side. When I pressed my stamp in, I could see the color underneath. In my case, the Triscuit box didn't really go with the look I was trying to acheive. LOL.

Okay, I had to use gold, no silver on hand! And the picture TOTALLY washed out the colors, I'm going to retake in the morning when I have natural light and see if that helps. If you take a peek, the script is in BBurgandy, the lace in AArtichoke (just so you can get the idea!). I love how it turned out, I already have a card made for DH, but may have to switch to this one!!!
This was the first time I have ever done this technique and it was fun!! I love silver and blue together, so that's what I got. And it gave me a chance to use one of my favourite retired stamps, Stipple Butterfly. Thanks for the challenge Taylor.

I got this one done and a little tip if your embossing powder is a fine texture like my silver - you can emboss a couple times with Ultra Thick and then add the silver. Works great!
I had a hard time with this. My ribbon is hiding where the embossing isn't as deep. I did this twice. May have to try again with another stamp set or may be like Rox suggested using the thicker embossing powder for the bottom layers. Thanks for the challenge.

Kathy~ I have a customer who REFUSES to buy a heat gun because she uses....get ready for this... her TOASTER!!!! She turns it on and holds it upside down over the EP~ I always tease her that her cards are "crumby" because of this (her stuff is really beautiful so I can get away with saying it!)
