I know I say this every month that I'm done for this month but I just can't stop playing with PSE7 now! Lela really inspired me with her Thursday challenge of scrapping a family portrait and as I was browsing my pics looking for a specific one, I found a pic of my son and daughter at ages 4 and 7 mos that I didn't realize I had! I had downloaded this from a CD of my ex-in-laws 50th wedding anniversary party. Sure brought back memories! Thanks Lela for the inspiration. I also used this for the October Mini VSBN challenge d "Book Report Time". The flowers in the corner are digi brads.
Wendy, I tried to round the corners on this pic and mat but I just couldn't make it work so that it looked right. I'll have to try again on another one!
Well I just got back from the doctor's office and I definitely messed up my leg ... tore the muscle in my calf. So I am at home today with my left propped (sp?) up on the heating pad. The doctor said definitely no exercise for a week and would be better if this hard-headed patient didn't exercise for 2 weeks. Bummed :-(
Hopefully I'll get my last 2 pages done before the end of the month but for the moment will go check the gallery for the newest uploads ... hopefully that will cheer me up.

Know what you mean ... feels like you would be moving over to the "dark" side. I won't go over till I get two more layouts done!

Well I'll be around here in October with you ladies for a while too! I have 4 pages to go! I have one all done...in my head that is! Just have to get off this computer and lay it out and glue it down!
So sorry about your leg Michele! Heal quickly!

Good call! I uploaded one more, so 1 to go for this month!
I'm here in between door bell rings and trick or treaters! I've just scanned a whole bunch of pictures so I can use them digi wise!
Wow...you guys are trick or treating tonight? Tomorrow's Halloween...will you have them then too? We're off to a party then T&T in the neighborhood tomorrow. Finally bought one bag of candy for when we're sitting outside at our friends.
DH got off work early today. On Friday we ususally play golf and then eat at the Country Club. Since I am laid up and can't golf, we still went out to the Golf Course; however, he golfed and I sat in the cart and drank Margaritas! Yep, definitely feeling better!

Quite a few years ago, Lancaster County assigned one evening from 6-8 Trick or Treat night for the whole county. Makes it nice. The first year we lived in the neighborhood (1998,) we had over 200 kids in that 2 hour span. Each year after, it got less by about 25 kids...this year I don't think we even had 75 since not a whole lot of little ones in our neighborhood anymore! I will probably go visiting relatives tomorrow with DGS in costume to Trick or Treat and then play. He was out for almost the whole 2 hours and is loving counting his loot!
I'm almost done with another layout. Am trying to get it in before midnight tonight!
Just got home from work and found a surprise in my mailbox--a package from Tamcan containing a cute little card with a lovely message and some 6x6 scrapbook paper. Thanks so much, Tam -- the card is just darling and the doggie-themed paper was SO thoughtful.
I had a rather trying day at work today and coming home to your package REALLY improved my day!! I now have a big smile on my face!!!
OK. Very last page for October now and before the deadline for the mini challenges from last weekend! Used Sally's sketch from last week and some pictures that my daughter's MIL sent me by surprise! They are so darling I couldn't resist doing Lela's challenge about Someone You Love. I don't get to see these 2 together too much and the pics came out wonderful! DD's MIL is a Creative Memories Demo so I'm sure she'll scrap these as well!

So what happens if you move in or are new to the area and choose to trick or treat on the 31st. DH asked if it is against the law then?

I don't think it would be against the law but unless someone knew you were coming, you might not get too many treats! They do make a big fuss about the date it gets held and it's announced on the radio and TV stations. The age limit for trick or treating is 12 in this area so everyone in the schools spread the word too!
Well I got 3 digi pages done tonight. I'm too tired to keep working even though I need six more for that goal; can't post them because they're my scouts. Hope you're all having a great night!
I'm up early so I thought I'd work on some pages until I have to cook and help the girls in their costumes...think I can get 14 pages completed? LOL! I'm thinking...NOT...but worth the effort ;-)

Oh, Michele, I'm so sorry. I hope all of the "down" time translates into "scrap" time for you!
As I was thinking about our challenge, I thought it would be fun for us to drag out those "family portraits" and scrap a page. I noticed I've not seen too many of those in the gallery. I encourage you to find some pictures or a picture you've had taken at a studio of your children, or your family and scrap it! We're all good at scrappin' our snapshots but what about those 6 mo pictures of our adorable baby or our family portrait for the annual Christmas card! Let's see what you can come up with. Now, if you're like me and don't have a family portrait, feel free to use one that's been taken outside the studio using the camera timer so you can run and jump in. ;)

Quick question - what are the rules about postin g pages cintaing professional portraits? Usually, the studio ones are copywrited.

I think if you're doing a 'copy' you need permission. However, if you're scrapping an original and sharing it with friends I don't think that's an issue. Of course, I'm not sure if that's monitored or not here on SCS...maybe check the 'start here' area on the front page?

You can't make a scan of a print done by a photographer to use in your digital scrapbook unless you've obtained rights by the photographer. But if you are posting a photo of a scrapbook page contained a print you purchased from the photographer, I think you don't need special permission to post a photo of a layout. it would be best to note in your credits that the photo is copyright XYZ photographer so that you are not claiming to have rights to the photo. However, I think it would be a gray area because you are using the photo as a derivative work and posting it publicly... I'm not sure how other photographers would see it and how the law considers that usage. For me, as a photographer, I wouldn't take issue with it myself, but if you created a layout I found offensive using a photo that is copyrighted to me, then I would probably exercise protecting my copyright.
Showing someone your paper layout in an album is one thing, but making a scan of it and posting it publicly is another, IMO. (But I'm not a lawyer... so take that for what it's worth.)
if it were me, I wouldn't post it here just to be safe. But that's just cuz I'm painfully aware of how expensive it is to hire a lawyer to pursue/defend such matters.
If you still want to share it, I'd make sure to note the copyright of the photographer in the credits. Most photographers would be happy with that, I would think.
Hi, ladies. My October goal was met but I'm back logged for uploading. I don't know why I save that for last. I have completed 10 8x8's and 21 12x12's=31 for Oct. I also did 2 mini's and, 20 cards. Working on an altered item now so I will still put off uploading til later.

I have another page, but I fear I will not make my too ambitious Oct. goal. Hey Michele- feel better soon and do keep that leg up so you heal right! Congrats to all who made their goal this month.

Thanks Haley. It 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and I am just now getting into my craft room. Have to finish up my October goal! Didn't scrap yesterday, just yet to the golf course with DH and rode around in the cart and drank a Margarita while he played 9 holes of golf ... sure was more enjoyable than swallowing (sp?) a pain pill ... LOL!
Anyway, will hopefully have my last 2 pages done today and then I can start reading the November threads!

Me too! I keep adding to my goal because I"m behind ... I didn't get it done in October either. The fun is that we just keep working on it! I'm still working on pages too!!
Michele, I hope you're taking care of your leg!
