Having that name was terrible growing up - but now I just think it's a hoot!
When people complain about "I hate my name, blah, blah, blah . . ." I give them something to REALLY chew on! It's funny to see their faces when they "get it." I had a friend growing up who was in almost as bad a boat. Poor guy - he's stuck with his name for LIFE! At least I got to drop mine once I got married. He was Alan Allan Allen . . .
We're people smoking a bunch of wacky weed in 1970 or WHAT?!
sounds like an LSD trip to me! lol, just kidding.

Misti.....a crop is code for "get out of the house and pretend to scrap all day". I either do an average of 36 pages in 10 hours, or 2. Really, just depends on the day! lol

misti--i went to a crop at a local winery over the summer. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!
you have to pick one or two projects and just take everything u need for those only.
i didnt get much done. i chatted too much. LOL
I would have such a hard time choosing. I'm one of those paper or plastic people at the grocery store: do I choose paper? no maybe plastic, but paper is recyclable....and on and on. Now y'all know why I always choose EVERYTHING--just in case I change my mind.
Sweetie, I'm sorry ds hurt your feelings --you will grow from this experience. So will he. As he grows older he will understand LIFE more. I wish I was there to give ya a hug! Look out your east window I'm blowing ya a kiss! See see there I am--yes I know my jammies don't match.

yeah Jodi. Its a weird feeling. One day, I had a family with three kids and I thought everything was dandy. The next day it was gone. And, now they are grown up and don't need me anymore. Very weird feeling.
Its strange to say I am a mother of a child who has graduated from high school and is on his own now. very weird. i don't feel old enough to have that, you know?

Okay gang - I need to go take my pitiful named fanny up to bed. It's 12:35 here. Having fun at my expense is always a good time - feel free to continue to mock me while I sleep . . .
Tami - gonna say some prayers for you tonight. I won't say that I know what you're going through - but I'm darn sure you are hurting. I'm sorry.
i have always been directionally challenged....which way is east misti? LOL

I gotta go to be too. I helped the girls transplant about 25 seedlings (what a mess), it snowed here today so we couldn't do that outside. Dh was late from work, and I did get my scrappin area clean. I plan to be busy scrappin and card making for the Lucky Me round.

Okay - really - I'm going to go to bed soon but . . .
It wasn't until my high school graduation that my parents realized what they had done. You know how when they announce your FULL name when you walk across the stage to get your diploma? Well - I had made an appointment with the principal prior to graduation and BEGGED him NOT to say my full name into that microphone. Pleeeeeaaaase just say my first & last name - pleeeeeaaaase! He agreed, thank goodness. So - after the ceremony my VERY angry parents were standing outside wating for me, "How could you disrespect your grandfather that way - blah, blah, blah . . . " That's when I told them, "Did you EVER actually SAY my name out loud?!? Hadn't Debbie DONE Dallas by 1970?!?" As they both began to balk at the notion that anyone would ever think such a thing - about 4 guys walked by and chanted, "Dildo! Dildo! Dildo!" It couldn't have been more perfect timing. They never mentioned it again . . .

that's what my mom says. She just feels like she had a housefull (there are 5 kids in my family) and then we were all gone. My sisters have moved out of province and to two different provinces, I live in the same province but 5 hours away, and my brothers don't come around much. She says it is really lonely.
Unfortunetly, I think that's why she has the icky boyfriend that she does, because even though his kids are older they still hang out at home a lot so she feels like people are around again.
I told her that she should be proud because they raised us so well that we are independant enough to have the courage to move away and still know we can come back to visit.
with the icky boyfriend, I'm going to have to figure out a different way I can come visit though because I'm not comfortable around him. Especially not while I'm nursing.
oh, if you think of it say a little prayer for Zeke. Poor little guy had to get shots today and now he doesn't feel great. Just normal stuff, but it always sucks even more when they're this little and don't feel good ya know?
...kids are in bed. Have taken the evening to scrap a little. And....no creative outflowing tonight. Started the page 80 challenge, it's going, got some stitching done (love the In Stitch'z)...gonna go watch hockey with hubby. Go Canucks Go ..... I guess! Thinkin' I'll take a scrap mag up with me, cause really, do I care if the 'Nucks win? Only so long as the winning team is Canadian, it's all good! ....shhhhhhh, don't tell ds I said that! lol
Ooooooh, today I registered for an all day crop on the April 12th and tomorrow will send a cheque to register for another one on April 5th!!! Me thinks hubby thinks I need a little R&R....and I ain't gonna disagree with that! Hello!!!
Night girls, chat with you tomorrow! THE LAPTOP IS HEALED!!! Hooray that, and now I can chat from my cozy kitchen (the centre of this household's universe!) instead of running down to the office every time I want to check in on you'all!
Later...
Hey CK!! What is the IN STITCH'Z? Glad your laptop is okay!
misti--i graduated in 87. i had the most beautiful pair of lavender parachute pants with cream inserts. ala MC hammer..........
hammer time!!!!!!!!!! can't touch this!!!!!!!!!!
hahahahahaha
Oh you are just a young un too. But I already said "can't touch this" (to myself) when I read the first post about parachute pants.
I had a turquoise pair with a matching windbreaker omg, I haven't thought about that in ages and ages.
It's nice to know someone else who is as directionally challenged as me!
Good night girls
Hugs

Hi Lanita! you will laugh at all of our posts tonight. Start where you left off yesterday. Hilarious.
Well, I'll have to do that a little later. I am not feeling 100% today. I suffer from terrible headaches and I have a small one that will probably completely take over by the end of the day. Talk to ya later!
Hey Tami! Hope you are feeling a little better today. Hang in there!!!!
Collette!! I know it's not very nice to laugh at someone, but sweetie you made me laugh A lot. Out loud. No wonder you didn't keep your maiden name when you got married!!!
Hello everyone else! You guys are amazing!! The number of pages that you are doing and the coolness of them all is awesome! Sorry I haven't written comments on each & everyone - time is not on my side, but I do still think they are great!!
It is my DS 10th birthday today and he's hit double digits!! Yeah for Emmett. The kids call him DL (stands for double letters!!!) and now he can be DDDL!!!! We've had many birthday cakes (Not looking forward to WW next week!!) and he is rapt with his pressies. It's getting harder and harder every year!!
Speaking of hard things.....the step on the flying fox at his new school appears to be quite hard. I got a phone call from the nurse yesterday telling me to come & pick him up as he had fallen off the flying fox & hit the step, which in turn split his eyebrow and it probably needs to get stitched!!! The Dr just added extra steri-tape & said it should heal okay as it's in his eyebrow! Poor little kid was very brave!
Okay, that will do for my essay tonight. I'm off to clean up my scrapping space so I get get something done over the weekend!!!
Take care of yourselves
Odette
P.S Nice to see you back,Lela!!

Oh my Goodness. I am so glad I went back to read the over night chatter. Thank goodness my scraproom/computer is in the basement or i would have woken my youngest son...
Collette, I'm sorry for your name combo. You know i was one of those kids who didn't like their name growing up, but doesn't compare what you had to deal with.
CK- you are a hoot girl..
Misti & Lela - great poems, love them.
Tami - sending you hugs and prayers.
I graduated in 87 too but never had parachute pants. thought they were kewl but I wasn't kewl enough to wear them.
Tami i'm so jealous you live in the Napa area. I have wanted to visit that area for ages. Scrapbooking at the vineyard would be awesome.
well i started a dps last night and will finish it this morning after i meet up with a gf for breakfast.

Collette, Collette, Collette!!! I'm crying laughing as I'm reading! The whole time I was reading I thought 'didn't her parents ever have to call her in for dinner'...ours always used our full name...Mary Patrica Clinton, GET IN HERE NOW! All I kept thinking about is your mom calling you for dinner...Collette Del Doe, GET IN HERE NOW!
It's taking me forever to type 'cause I'm cracking up so much. Can I please use this at my next party :-)
(I thought Sister Mary Pat was tough...went to 12 years of Catholic School!)
Tami...so sorry your hurting, I'm thinking about you and saying a prayer. My mom had all three of us out of the country for a couple of years and she was bummin' big time. I had a brother in the Navy overseas, my other brother was doing his disertation research in France, & we were stationed in Okinawa, Japan. She couldn't visit us even if she wanted it was too expensive!
Lela...hope your resting up from your travels and feeling good at home! Another hidden poet!
Gina...God bless you for wanting so many children! I was in infertility the first time and had post partum after each child with the second being worse than the first. I'M DONE :-) I've designated myself as the neighborhood 'aunt', the kids can come to my house, play, and chat whenever.
Lanita...hope your headache get better soon!
Everyone else....HI!!!! I'm going to be on tonight so hopefully we can all chat.
Speaking of hard things.....the step on the flying fox at his new school appears to be quite hard. Ouch!!!! I busted open my eyebrow at about his age. It STILL has a scar! We didn't know to keep it really "sealed" up against itself tho. Keep that tape on it and keep it moist as long as possible - and when the steri-strip falls off - put another round on. It will REALLY help to prevent a scar. It's not so much a "scar" I have as it's a place that my hair doesn't grow. KWIM?

Thanks for the tips. I would have preferred for it to be stitched, it looked like it needed it, but the Dr thought by taking off the steristrip that the school nurse had put on it would make it gape even more. To be honest, I am overjoyed that it wasn't his nose or even worse, his teeth that made contact. That would have been so much worse if it had been either of those places. He's got a lovely little face & has so far managed preserve his good looks without too much trouble ;) ;) , although he did have three stitches on the underside of his chin a year or two ago! Boys will be boys, I suppose!!! Although it was my daughter who broke her arm last year..so kids will be kids!!! :p
