Scrappin' Challenge 2008
It was SO fun to see everyone's goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2008! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops...
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done, use more in our stash before buying new (well at least keep track) and save $$ at the same time which becomes scrapping budget $ for next year -- or vacation money or Holiday fund!
I'm SURE you will all agree that we need to go back and add in our focus on our scrapping budgets! It's a good time of the year to start as we'll all want extra $$ for the holidays. Some of us have been using the "budget" idea since we started, others not so much. I decided it would be easier to split from the page goal posts. There are several ways to do this:
1. Set a $$ spending budget for the month & track your expenditures against budget set.
2. Match your scrapbook/stamping spending by putting the same amount away in savings that you spend on scrapbook/stamp stuff. This gives you extra $$ for either more scrap/stamp spending or something fun
3. Set a "Scrap to Spend" page goal. Come up with a goal to complete before you spend more $$ (for instance, "complete 25 pages before spending"
4. Do a combination or all of them!
Many times scrapping and stamping supply purchases are "impulse" buys. We want to encourage not only LOTS of Pages completed but creative, productive use of our STASH. Let's see if together we can be "CREATORS" and not just "COLLECTORS". (Thanks MP )
You do NOT have to set a budget to play along with Scrappin' Goal Challenge. This is only for those of us who would like to play

Wow! This year we're together during the HOLIDAYS! What a BLESSING it will be to share this time together. Let's remember though that this can also be a time of stress and unhappy moments. I thought it would be fun if we shared some "HAPPY MOMENT" mail with each other. Here's how it works:
I'll start by sending out a Scrappin' Sisters envelope of "HAPPY MOMENT" Mail. The envelope could include card, quote, interesting idea found on a website printed for them, copy of a magazine article, small scrappy surprise AND (1) ONE photo. The photo should be something fun for your Sis ... a photo that brings a smile. Each receiving Sister MUST do the following: Take 5 minutes to sit and ENJOY her envelope, SMILE at everything, POST to the THREAD it was received and SEND a "HAPPY MOMENT" envelope on to another Sister. If by some chance you receive an envelope and are unable at the time to send out another one (after all, we don't want to make this more stressful) then please let me know and I will send one for you. Once you have selected the SIS you want to send a SMILE to please "PM" me or Jennipher (Stamptician) for her address if you don't already have it.
It does not have to be a stamped/handmade card (gasp!) as this is supposed to be for FUN and SMILES. The quicker you can get out another envelope, the better as more SISTERS will get MORE SMILES! Please select only from our NOVEMBER SCRAPPIN' SISTERS. You can choose any Sister you'd like, even if she's received a SMILE from someone else.
Keep it simple, keep it fun, keep it reasonable, keep it in an envelope!

12/04/08 -- 6th & 7th Days of Christmas ...Hum along now....
"On the 6th Day of Christmas my True Love Gave to me....6 geese a-laying...." for some reason when I hear this verse, I always think about a bunch of geese surrounding Mother Goose! Don't ask me, something warped in childhood maybe, LOL! :rolleyes: So this challenge is about nursery rhymes. Use a nursery rhyme to inspire a page. You don't have to include the actual rhyme but share with us how it inspired you. Since we're on 6, be sure to challenge yourself to add 6 buttons, brads, or eyelets.
"On the 7th Day of Christmas my True Love Gave to me...7 swans a-swimming...." For this challenge let's get out those SUMMER picts and remind ourselves how nice warm weather inspires us to enjoy the sun or swim. Let's see those bathing suits or shorts! Bonus points for water somewhere in one of the pictures!"

Woo-hoo! I'm ready for December (or at least the part where I will be off work). I'm going to set my goal for December at 35 pages (What? Am I crazy???) That will give me almost 70 completed pages between November and December. I'm still considerthing what I will set as my goal for 2009. This is just so inspiring!
Well, I have 39 pages to do if I want to hit my year's goal - I'm not optimistic, but I'm going to give it a shot - I'm aiming for 40.
(I'm a sucker for a bet, let me tell you!!!)

Another month has passed and I missed my goal again. Luckily I feel that my slump may be over! My goal is 6 pages and my budget is stash only! I've got lots!
I WAN TO CRY!!! OMG...I can't believe it's December tomorrow...how did November pass so quickly! I have 20 PAGES to reach my 2008 goal...I'VE NEVER DONE THAT MUCH IN ONE MONTH...wish me LUCK! Okay, besides wanting to do 20 pages...I'm panicking because my house looks like CR*P! I hate having all three rooms emptied for the carpets and I'm completely stressing out and I don't know why; not like I didn't know it was going to look like this? Go figure. Obviously, I don't have any Christmas items out...so I have tons to do between now and the ninth (my GS Holiday meeting is the 10th). I did get the jump on Christmas so I only need something for my mother and then to get ANYTHING for my hubby. He's soooooo hard to buy for! Guess I'll be on-line shopping for the impossible people since I don't see anything in the stores...IDEAS ARE WELCOME :-)

I only need six more to make my year goal I can't believe I am doing it. This challenge has been great for so much: getting me to make a goal and then help with reaching it, making new friends, getting new ideas, etc. Thanks ladies. This means my goal for this month will be 6 (hopefully more). I am excited to continue this into the new year.

11/27/08 -- "I'm Thankful for You" --- The Holidays are a GREAT time to count our Blessings & be appreciative of those we love. Let's not wait...let's see those layouts of the ones you love.
Challenge is to:
1. Use a White Background! (we want to show off those picts)
2. Use Swirls
3. Use Brads or Eyelets
I finally finished this challenge. I think this is one of my most favorite layouts year to date. This is my niece, looking very much like an angel and I am very Thankful to have her in my life. She has brought me much joy.:p

gee now i'm blushing mp! thanks! i really needed that this morning!! sometimes a cold crashes me completly but sometimes it keeps me awake and wired and so busy hands must play...lol, thank god for scrappy mojo and friends to inspire!
