I've also attached a document that I pulled from this site awhile ago; it tells you how to color using Gamsol (using regular colored pencils, not watercolor pencils) and will give you pointers for shading, etc.
Thanks a million! (I did a search but came up with different results) These are beautiful! I can't open the attachment, but I'll try later when I have more time.

Happy New Year everyone!
You right click on the link and save target as, it saves to your computer. It's in adobe, so if you don't have that you need to download it.
Thanks again for helping me with this! I didn't find Gamsol but I did find Mona Lisa at M's for $2.99. I picked out four Prismacolor pencils to try along with two sizes of stumps and a sanding block. I stayed up last night playing and coloring like a kid Today I'll make the cards and hopefully upload one.
There's a pdf attachment on WAXYO's post above that explains how to do this technique, or go to http://www.inkyantics.com/pdfs/GamBlend.pdf and you can see the shading you can achieve on the turtle.
Gamsol or Mona Lisa is actually no odor mineral spirits. Use a Paper Stump to dip into the mineral spirits and rub it over the color penciling on the image to shade, blend and smooth.
For the snowman card I did, I just took the color pencil and drew a line along the right side of his body, then use the stump to shade it out toward the center. I also did the same on the hat so that it has some shading to it. For the gloves, I colored those in with the color pencil and used the stump to smooth it out so you don't see pencil lines. I stumped over the wording as well.
The cost was very low to try this. Mona Lisa and the stumps are at M's for $2.99 and $1.99 and you find it in the painting section. Instead of investing in a set of Primsacolor pencils, I just purchased 4 at $1.09 each. Also, someone else posted her that they use Crayola colored pencils also. I tried some cheaper pencils and they also work but not nearly as good as the Primsacolor ones.
Sandi thanks for the link to the directions for using the gamsol. These were very clear and gave a lot of insight for "coloring" from Debbie. I can't wait to try this.
I just bought Prismacolor pencils from Laura on here and just placed my order for Gamsol and stumps last night from Inky Antics. Can't wait to play!!! Man do I need to stay away from SCS for a few days - my checkbook needs to recover!!

I've almost bought this several times, this caps it! I need these lol
I have a ? I'd like to use this technique for a background page, are they safe for scrapbooks??? Does anyone know?
where can i purchase gamsol and the stumps necessary to try this out? a previous post mentions "M's" and i assumed that meant micheals, but found nothing on their website - can someone help - i am anxious to try this method the shading is so much nicer than i am accustomed to with my watercoloring - thanks
The liquid is Mineral Spirits. I purchased mine at WalMart. The stumps can be purchased at Michael's...also for sale on the bella website for about $0.89. The Mineral Spirits is just a paint thinner. I just recently learned about this also! It's great!
Karen,
I use the GP cardstock that I get at Wally World, but I have read that others have used SU paper with equal excellent results. The GP cardstock is a good grade paper and since aI make so many cards I needed something that was less expensive. I have tried to use Bazzill paper but it does not give very good results. That is just my take on it. I don't use gamsol but I use baby oil.
I only have SU and CTMH ink pads. I have a few distress inks and 1 TAC pad, they all work great on the GP paper. I like the weight of the paper also.
I don't think you could go wrong using it.
is "ordorless mineral spirits" and mona lisa paint thinner from michaels the same thing? i keep trying to find anything that says mineral spirits...with no luck...i know i can buy the gamsol online, but i was hoping for more instant gratification and no shipping
Jay has given her idea on another alternative for Gamsol technique, using "Goo Gone"...but I still think I will continue to use my baby oil. I did try this and it worked with my stumpie, but it evaporates really fast. I had to use more of the "Goo Gone" because of the fast evaporation. Good results ....but? Each to their own.........for someone who has the "Goo Gone" and wants to experiment, I say give it a try.
I came on to ask a question about Gamsol technique as well so I'm glad this thread is here! I think I bought the wrong product. I have been playing with my Prisma pencils and it's not gving me the desired effect. I found it at Ms in the art aisle. Its called Grumbacher Pre-tested odorless thinner. It is oil based. Is this the right product? What department do I find Gamsol or Mona Lisa?

I don't know if you have received an answer to your question yet, but you can find the Mona Lisa in the painting section, it is in a white plastic bottle with a picture of Mona Lisa on the front of it, it is in several sizes. HTH
Can you give me a link to find out what this technique is? I love using the watercolor pencils I have. Michaels has a big sale on art supplies this week.
Ok got my gamsol, paper, and pencils. Watched the videos and read the threads, but my stuff just doesn't look that good. The main problem seems to be when I put the thick line around the image I can't get it to blend, and I seem to get the gamso all over or I color outside. I can send samples if anyone wants to see how bad am doing.
