Has anyone had problems with their jar of texture paste drying up? I have a new jar of Ranger's Texture Paste and only half used it and already it's solid. Is this what usually happens with paste if not used quickly or will I just have had a bad batch? I thought if the lid was sealed it would last for a while.
Happy day everyone

The one I mostly use is a Winsor & Newton one from the Galeria range; I've probably had it for 3 years and it's still fine. I suspect that humidity and temperature might mean that not everyone has the same experience with certain supplies.
I use the Golden's brand at home, and it hasn't dried out yet. I've had it many years. I've used other brands, and they seem to dry out much more quickly.
Have you tried making your own? I'm going to try this woman's recipe because mine leeps drying out. I really like the texture she ended up with: She says in her air tight jar, the paste will last about 10 months before it starts to dry out.
Jayne I had the same bad result with the Ranger texture paste, paint and pens. Their inks continue to be fabulous quality, but I can't say the same for many of their products. The craft store I previously worked in would not guarantee any Ranger product once it was opened. Monte Art el cheapo stuff is a good buy, it colours up well with re-inkers too.

I finally gave up on my texture paste and purchased a new jar. It has been a few months and I haven't used it, but one time. I better go look as it may already be dried up. I think it dries quickly, even when the lid is on tight. I like Susie's response after working in a store. It must be everyone who purchases this product and has this problem.
I'm not surprised about the Ranger products. I bought some Enamel Accents in various colors at an expo, didn't even open them for a few months, and they discolored in the bottles. I sent them pictures, including pictures of the codes on the bottles (which they said they needed), and the replacements arrived with the same discoloration. I emailed them to thank them, but told them that I was very disappointed in the poor quality of these products. They never replied. A year or two ago, I had a problem with another Ranger product (I can't remember which one), and they actually wouldn't help me. They said that I would have to return the product to the store where I had bought it (over an hour's drive for me). I now hesitate to buy their products, because their customer service has slipped, and so has the quality of some of their products.
Thanks ladies for your comments. I will throw the Rangers one out. I do have a new brand that I bought.....can't remember the brand.....but so far seems ok. I will also check out other brands when I'm shopping....or may have a go at making my own. That would be something new for me and looks easy and cost effective.
It's good to know that I'm not alone on this and I won't buy Rangers paste in future.
Thanks again and happy day
