Default My version of Clear Mount Insert

I too am taking the plunge to unmount my stamps.
I bought the cases from SU and want my inserts to all be the same.

Today I started playing around on MY DIGITAL STUDIO to try and make one I like.

Using MDS I can use SU DSP to make the bar across the top and use the stamp sets they already have available to make the images on the front and the side.

Once I get it perfected I am going to color code my inserts based on the type of stamp set (ie: floral, child, birthay, etc) I still need to move some things around to make them look more centered, but once I get the first one done all I have to do is just change out the colors and stamp sets. For those stamp sets not on MDS I will just stamp them onto the insert.

Here is my first example
Template for Unmounted stamp cases by imatbrown at Splitcoaststampers

(I hope this link works)

Love it, love it! I've never heard of My Digital Studio. Is it just for demonstrators?

Way kwel idea. I unmounted over 4,000 stamps, I figured I'd use a scanner and scan each page of each book and make a "main image" book for each of the stamps I have. I've already labeled them by catagory, "valentine/romance", Wine,Food, etc.

I'm impressed! I have been on the fence about getting MDS, and this is another reason I might just have to get it!

Subscribing for when I do take the plunge to unmount my stamps. I love the dvd insert. Do you know if you can do the inserts for the retired and all sets? I am not sure what digial images the digital studio has on file? Thank you if you can let me know then I can decide to unmount or not.

Thanks all
Currently there are only certain sets available for use with MDS but I am just going to stamp the front with the others.
My hubby thinks he may have another idea for shrinking the images to put on the side but I just started a new job and my summer semester is fixing to start . . . . so I am focusing on unmounting the stamp sets that I have that are currently available with MDS.

I unmounted all my stamps over the last two months. I stamped index images and scanned those. I am just finishing up the cross-indexing. I have one binder of all the index images in their sets and all the cross-indexed images in a separate binder under the different categories (floral, people, animals, etc.) I was a huge job, but its almost over (I have about 1200 stamps).

Imatbrown: I love your design. I don't have very many SU sets in the cases (only about 15). I think I'll adapt your idea for the one's I have. Thanks for sharing your idea with us.

Wow, that makes me seriously consider getting MDS, I've been on the fence with it ever since it came out. Looks fabulous!

Thanks all!
I have to make some adaptations as well since I have a lot of older stamp sets. Some of my inserts just won't have the little pictures down the side. I thought about trying to stamp them and scan them to shrink them - but that's just too much work!

I am in the process of moving all of my things to another craft room and then I have to work on finishing the process of unmounting. I'll update my gallery as I go through.

My ultimate plan is to color coordinate the top banner to make them easier to find (ie: red - Christmas, pink - Valentines, Yellow - Easter, etc.)

Hi! I make the inserts with MDS only because I didn't think of using Word or Powerpoint. But there are some other ladies on here that have them in a Word document and PDF format

There are some on this thread:

I hope this helps.

As I mentioned I recently lost all my stuff when my laptop crashed. Yesterday I took the time to play with MDS on my husband's Mac. I was able to fairly easily recreate my template. My new scrapbook that I am painting this weekend will be the palest of pinks - so I decided that would be my "general" line of stamps (ie: not Christmas, Easter, etc.)

Here is the template I created yesterday

Hi all: I will post the steps, also, if I can figure out how to share the file with you - I will do that too!

I am going to type the steps literally as I am doing them as boxes pop up starting at the ultra beginnning:

1) open MDS
2) from the New Project Options box select: MULTIPLE OUTPUT OPTIONS
3) from the Multiple Output Size Options box select: 8 1/2" x 11" LANDSCAPE
4) from the Choose a Template box select: CREATE YOUR OWN
5) Name your project: I chose "DVD Case Template"
6) from the Add a New Page box select: BLANK PAGE then OK

***I make sure to have my ruler showing at this point - to do this go to "view" and select "Rulers"***

7) On the Resource Palette (the menu on the left) I select the Flower (embelishments) - then click browse
Under select a category I chose "DESIGNER KITS" - these have borders in them that I used for the top band
9) Select the borders you want to use and click OPEN
10) Choose your border and and drag it on to your page (or double-click it)
11) Once it's on your page it opens the Embellishment menu on the right of the screen - CLICK ROTATE 90 DEGREES TO RIGHT
12) Align to the top of your page
13) On the Embellishment menu - change the opacity to 80 or less (this allows you to see the logo and name easier once printed)
14) Find a Stampin' Up! logo off of their webpage that they allow us to use (or hopefully use the one I have in my file) Double click the logo and resize to fit in space. I also changed its opacity to 80
15) I aligned the left side of the logo on 5" on my top ruler
16) next copy & paste the logo, rotate 90 degrees and shrink to 1/2" - I aligned it between 4" and 4 1/2" on the top ruler
17) then along the top bar choose the Capitol T for a text box - once you do the text menu on the right will open - type your title and choose your font - position in the title bar next to the logo
1 select your title, copy, paste, rotate 90 degrees to the right and align under small SU logo

19) now go back to the left menu (Resource Palette) and select the stamp
20) select Browse and choose your stamp set and click open
21) again, drag your stamps on to the page and center on the right half of your page. be sure to stay on centered under the larger SU logo and the right edge of the page - that's your guide

22) then I created another text box and filled it with hyphens and made it from the 5" on the top ruler to the edge of the page (you may be able to add and embellishment of stitching but I haven't tried it yet) - I put this line of hyphens to match up with the 8 1/8" measurement on my side ruler
23) under the hyphen line - I put another text box with the number of stamps and changed the color of the text to gray
***someone on another thread also put a text box under the hyphen line that said: "Belongs To: " ***** which I will be including from here on out

24) then I dragged each stamp on again - resized them to fit between 4" and 4 1/2" along the top ruler and rotated 90 degrees to the right and lined them up under the side view title

25) then I printed and used an insert from my SAB set to draw the cut lines - cut it out and slipped it in a case to see if it would work

I like this because I can change the borders to be whatever colors to organize my categories of stamps

I hope this is clear
