Default My poor Embossing Folders

What is a good way to store my Embossing Folders so that they are out in the open? Right now I store them in a coupon wallet and I forget about them. I am so out of sight out of mind. There has to be a way to have them out in the open so the poor things get used.

Any kind of bin or basket that you can have them in standing upright would work great. I have mine in a bin from Stamp N' Storage, because I was getting their storage for my framelits and thinlits also. I love it, I can flip to find the one I need.

I just put this on the other post, but I use Really Useful Boxes. I did have them all in a 5 litre one, and they are a great fit, but having bought some Tim Holtz Diffusers, then a couple of 12" folders, and a couple of 12" borders, I wanted some extra space, so I've upgraded to a 9 litre box.

I usually go the cheapo route, lo. I got some plastic shoe boxes from the Dollar Store that I keep mine standing in.

I hardly ever spend much money on organizing containers. I'd rather buy paper and stamps. No one sees my craft room but me, and I don't care what it looks like if it serves the purpose.

Can you explain what a diffuser is?

I so wish I could be like that. I am ocd so everything has to match and have a certain home. However, I do like to go to the dollar store so that is a great idea. Thanks

And Brenda thank you for your idea as well. I did end up buying a refridge bin. So keeping my fingers crossed that it works the way I need it to.

I have mine in a plastic, lid-less, "pink" box that allows them to stand up. However, I recently looked at a video on hallmarkscrapbook.com that showed them being stored in sleeves from Anna Griffin standing in the cutest drawers just on top of their table. You should check it out. She also demonstrated how she stores her framelits in plastic sleeves she gets from Anna Griffin. I was most impressed and am planning to try this method myself.

I'm not very organized about storing my embossing folders. I store them standing up in a photo box. I should at least alphabetized them.

But what I find most helpful to remind me to use them is a sample album (a mini album for 4x6 photos). I also have one for 5x7 embossing folders. Seeing a sample works better for me than looking at a folder.

Pioneer makes albums for 24 photos in several sizes that I love for cataloging stamps, inks, embossing powders, etc. I can usually find them at Woodmans but have also bought the larger sizes at an online photo supply vendor.

I use a small plastic crate and I've made dividers so I can have them according to company.

Aww man I guess I should have waited before purchasing the bin. I love pink so if there is something pink out there that would have worked I would rather have that. Altho, I could always decorate the bin. Kathy, what type of small plastic crate? Like a milk crate?

Yes, like the milk crates. I'll bet you could even find those in pink at the dollar stores.

Well if the bin thing doesn't work out you can bet I will be looking for little pink milk crates. Thanks Kathy.

Here's mine! Very simple, very cheap! From the dollar store. Wish they still carried these!

Mine are not organized at all. I guess I just know what I have ( and I don't have that many), and I don't have to be reminded to use them as I feel my card is naked without embossing! Hahaha!

Wow, that container is so pretty. You got that at the dollar store? You have a way better dollar store than we have. Ours never has anything that pretty.

I don't store my embossing folders out in the open or on my stamping table (not enough room!). I use a 4-drawer Recollections cube to store them in.

Yes, Dollar Tree. They had these about four years ago for awhile. Here's the other one I have. I wish they'd have them again! Just looked the other day. Nope!

This one has framelits, embosslits, etc. in it.

Hey, we are both from WI! Are you from the Dells? If so we are sort of close! I live just south of La Crosse.

That is a cute one. Yes I am in the Dells...well Between the Dells and Lyndon Station. It takes us about 6 mins to get to the Dells. Of course we avoid it at all costs because the traffic is crazy this time of year. They used to open on Memorial weekend but now they have a HUGE car show called Automotion the weekend before Memorial weekend so everyone opens a week early now. I am not sure if they open the outdoor water parks early or if they wait. But either way it is a busy place. If you ever make it up this way let me know we can meet for lunch maybe do a little card swap thing. Well time to go order some brads and stuff. I love eyelet outlet their brads are so inexpensive. Have a great day.
Hugs and Prayers

I have tried just about everything trying to find what works best for me. I too watched the video You Tube by Jennifer McGuire. She suggests the refrig binz with Anna Griffin pockets. The bin was $14.97 at my Lowe's and the pockets were around $5 online. I think that is a little steep for my pocket. So, I went to Wal-Mart here and found little white plastic baskets that are almost the exact dimensions, and Avery makes a 6 x 9 page protector that is "perfect". These are $2.48 for 15. The basket from Wal-Mart is $2.88 .... Now I have trimmed about 1" from the top of the page protectors. Basically I followed Jennifer's instructions, but used a little less expensive alternative. If you go with the plastic folders for your dividers, you will have the pockets left over. This is what I trim to 6" x 5" to store my embossing folders sideways in one of my baskets. These are shorter than the stamp and frametlis pockets, but it is great nonetheless. This might confuse you; but if you do . . . checkout Jennifer's video.

Thank you. I did check out Jennifer's video. I ended up purchasing the bin and the pockets. However I am in the process of ordering more EF which means I will need more storage room. I will check our Walmart out and see if I can do what you did. I love to save money whenever possible because that means I will have more to spend on the good stuff like EFs and Dies, Stamps, brads, ribbon, etc....

I have some of these from Hobby Lobby. Mine are Christmas ones that I got at 75% off. So they were like $ .50 each. They have all kinds of them in the party section though. I have ribbon in one, scraps in two of them and card bases in another one.

I do sort by categories and then alphabetical within the category. My categories are:

Butterflies
Flourishes
Flowers
Misc.
Shapes
Swirls
Vintage

As I purchase more I am adding more categories.

I don't have dividers because I like to flip through all of them. I did put a cheap piece of black card stock in the folder so I can see the design more easily.

Mary, that is a good idea. I embossed on black and put that in the folder so I could see it first hand....I can never decide which one will look best.
