tonight I was unpacking my first order from the new catalog. included were 5 new color ink pads and re-inkers. While placing the labels on the pads I had a BRAINSTORM! I had in the past carefully written a short name of the ink on each white lid of the reinker. Tonight I snipped off the end of one of the stamp pad labels ( one in a language I don't speak or read) and wrapped it around the lid. At least now when searching for a certain ink in my storage bins ( divided into:;not SU:, blacks, browns and grays--blues and purples--greens and yellows--reds and oranges and pinks--) I will at least be able to quickly find the five new ones. Although I have storage shelves for my inks, I did not choose to invest in the type that have ink pad, re -inker hole and marker slot all together.....so finding re inkers has always been a slow task....especially those that I have more than one bottle of in a color.....( by the way I number them in the order I purchase them and always use the lowest number first so that I am using up my oldest bottle first.).
If you are still reading this....thanks....hope someone will find this idea useful.

Indeed. I bought my reinker in Sets, so I keep them in the boxes they came in. I put a dot of matching cardstock on top to identify the color. There are, of course, some problems.
1) They come in color categories, so I’ve labeled the boxes Rich Regals, etc. However, I store my inkpads (and cardstock) in rainbow order. So, I have to guess where the reinker is.
2) Not sure what I’ll do now, as the new colors won’t have a box.
Both of these are such great ideas! I have all my re-inkers in two clear containers - the typical shoe box size ones by Sterilite. It takes so much time to lift each one out - read the color name- and put it back - only to keep searching. I cringe when I have to do it. I have all the colors since 2005 (minus some of the new in-colors) and with so many colors simply just shades off - I have to actually read the bottles! I am making this a project for the next week.
Lynnewithane - What size hole punch do you use and what do you adhere it with?

Catherine, white dot stickers can also be used. As part of her organization series, Jennifer McGuire demo’d it in a video. If you scroll to the bottom you’ll see the brand she uses. She talks about using the dot stickers at 2:30.

I do that too. I put them in rough rainbow order so at least I only have to look at a few of them. I cut light cardboard into dividers and make rows. It might work till you decide something more sophisticated.
I use the punched-dot-from- cardstock method, using a quarter inch circle punch. I adhere
with the teeny tiny glue dots. I store in shallow plastic baskets in rainbow order.

I put the number right on top of the reinker with a skinny Sharpie if I have multiples, too. I also keep mine in a plastic box the allows the tops to show above the sides of the box. I use the same Sharpie to put the initials of the color (OO) for Old Olive, etc. on the pointed part of the cap. Although most are named with double names, it is easier to find the color if they are stored with their basic color group. CC for Cherry Cobbler would not be in the group with CC for Coastal Cabana. It helps, but is not perfect. My eyes are old and it is hard to tell little bits of colored dots one from the other, so this works better for me. It doesn't look pretty, but I'm the only one in here using things!
I also punch a dot of cardstock and glue dot it to the top of my re-inker lids. Since I keep them in RGBIV like I do my cardstock (and everything else of color) and in the same order separated by a wood slat between color families. I only have to go to the light greens or deep purples, for example, and almost always find it on no more than the second try. Light pinks are the toughest for me, as I use them so seldom that I'm not as familiar with their particular order, but still with only about 5 light range pinks, it doesn't take too much. Being sure they all get back in the proper open slot is the trick, especially if I had a bunch out at one time.
I store my reinkers upside down (make sure to cap the tight) so that I can label the bottom. It has more room than trying to label the top of the lid and I can also.
I also use a sharpie to note M & I on each pad if own the marker and reinker. It saves me from looking for items I don't own yet or buying duplicates.
Cheaper than buying from Amazon & better than punching holes
Another option is- At Dollar General, and Dollar Tree, they both have colored dot stickers.

The dots are 1/4 but they come in other sizes too. Not better than punching and glueing dots, just another option.
Rather than punching holes & cheaper than Amazon, Dollar General & Dollar Tree sell these same stickers for about $1. i know they sell the colored ones & I'm pretty sure they sell the white ones also. Trust me when I say it's much better than punched holes & glue dots!!!!
A long time ago Dollar Tree only carried colored stickers - and sometimes none - but they may have changed so it's worth checking if they're nearby anyway.
I take a permanent marker and write over the bottle labels the name of the color in large print. I shove them all into a drawer of my organizational bin laying on their sides. It is super easy now to find the color I am searching for because it is so written in such large print. I don't even have to look at the color inside the bottle. Most of the inks that are similar in color look a lot alike in the reinkers anyway.
