Default Empty DVD cases?

I unmounted my stamps and put them into cd cases. But, I just got my first SU sets in their nifty DVD cases. I would love to use these for all my stamps!

Anyone have a source to get them cheaper without those stupid molded inserts? That OCD part of me thinks the cases all need to be the same, plus they will hold more and I can put some of my sets all in one case rather than two. I tried a search and can't find what I am looking for. Anyone???
Thanks!

I know, but they are expensive. Just thought I would check here if someone knew of a source that didn't cost so much.

I've given up and am using DVD cases with the center hub.

I got them online at Stamp-By-Step. They were pretty cheap $1.00 each. But as they say, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy them again. I like the quality of Stampin' Up's DVD cases much better and they don't cost that much more.

I have seen some wonderful crystal clear ones with great hinges. But they are close to SU's prices. My OC-ness would make me get the ones from SU so everything matched! ;)

BTW, I saw these cases at blockhead stamps Kompac Rubber Stamp Storage Cases - 3 Pack but they are way MORE than the SU cases.

If you're referring to that black insert with the "hub" on it, it will easily snap right out of the case.

The one's I have seen are molded into the case. Drat!

Thanks for all the info! I am going to check these other places out, but like someone said, My OCness is going to want them all to match. Right now I have about 60 some CD cases, so would probably be a little less than that many of the SU cases since I could get more stamps into those.

I have a combination of DVD-sized cases (from Stamp-by-Step) and CD sized ones. In each I have stamps on one side and an image of the stamps on the inside of other, held in by the little clips that hold the paper DVD/CD inserts.

When I got my first cling stamps from SU, I considered changing over to their boxes. Not only are they sturdier and don't have the hole along one side that small stamps could escape from, but because the image printout could go on the outside, I could use both sides to store stamps on. Which would allow me to store the stamps in half as many cases.

But I did some experimentation, and found that my clear stamps did not stick very well to the plastic of the SU cases. So if you have a mix, the SU cases might not be a good solution.

Alternatively, though, I've found that my cling stamps leave residue on the plastic of the DVD cases. So far no real issues but I worry that over time the "stickiness" is staying behind. I guess if it gets to the point they won't stick to the blocks I'll put some Aleene's Tack-it-over-&-over on the cling foam.

If wanting one system for everything wasn't an issue, I'd go with a combination of cases, depending on the type of the stamp. Since I've already invested in the DVD cases, I'll stick with them for now.

I have a customer who searched high and low to find DVD cases like the ones SU sells. She has a brother who lives in China and he could get her similar ones, but she had to buy something like 10,000!! So, she caved and got the SU ones. She had to order a ton, so she was able to get hostess benefits and earn some free stuff. She LOVES them (as do I!)

I think I am going to just break down and get the SU ones. They are really nice and sturdy. I am also thinking I may try putting the stamps onto a piece of acetate rather than the actual case itself, that way it won't leave that sticky residue behind...I hope!

the reason i like/love the ones fromSU-they aren't hard plastic. so they don't crack/break. i think they are worth the cost

NOT a good idea. Acetate has a chemical reaction with the cling surface on cling mounting foam and they will eventually fuse together permanently. I am assuming you are talking about rubber stamps on cling foam, not clear stamps or rubber with Aleene's TIO&O on them.

I read about that after I posted. My stamps do not have EZ mount on them. They are all my wood mounted stamps that I unmounted and the newer clear cling stamps that I have bought. The clear ones come on some kind of clear plastic sheet.

Yes, you use the clear acrylic blocks to stamp. Unmounting has saved me a lot of space. I also made a card system as I went so I would be able to find them easier. I love it!

What kind of card system did you make for your stamps?

How are you dealing with the center hub? I just ordered cases I thought would work (100) and they have the hub that is molded into the case itself and therefore, not removeable. Jeanne

I buy the "single" dvd cases with a hub only on one side. So, I use the flat side for my stamps and put the front of the case overlay on the side with the hub.

I actually came across Patter's new way of organizing clear stamps, in the enclosed binders from Univenture. I ended up ordering 10 of them in black since they're on sale for 1.11 a piece. I already put all of my alphabet stamps on 8.5x5.5 laminated card stock.

While I do like the idea of the SU clear cases, they don't really fit the size of the sheets most clear stamps come on. They are just too short. This way my stamps will take up less room than with the SU cases.
