As of now, I have a corner of a guest bedroom for stamping. I pretty much have all of the furniture I am going to need, but what I want to know is... what storage products could you not live without or what would you have done differently when creating your stamping space?
I have been looking at different paper storage options and so far am interested in simple Sterlite storage drawers. Any reviews on these? I don't use much 12x12 paper, except for DSP, so I don't know if they will be too big for 8.5x11.
I don't have a ton of stuff, but I am interested to know what smaller, more individualized storage you use for embellishments, knick-knacks, etc.
I have alot of 12x12 sterlite drawers in room. I keep both sized paper in them. I have a 12x12 sterlite drawer for each color family. I keep ink pads in the top drawer and paper in the other 2 drawers. Since I do not have alot of markers i put them with the ink pads. I also keep alot of other supples in them too. My room is full of sterlite LOL. In my gallery I have a couple photos of my sterlite drawers.
For my tools that I use frequently I use the Pampered Chef tool turn-about (I think it's called). There might be other models out there too but I like this one. It's tiered and spins around so I can get to my tools quickly and it comes in white or black. For brads and other small embellishements I use an organizer I bought at the local hardware store that can hold screws and bolts, etc. Then I labeled each drawer.
I have alot of those rolling drawer carts...love those!
then i made my paper holder, from those wire shelf things that were popular a few years ago...not sure you can find them anymore, but that was the best for storing paper. I have a photo in my gallery of that. And then my hanging file milk crate for scraps, couldn't do it without that either!
I spent forever trying to hang shelves and get them all even. Many of my shelves go all the way up to about 14" from the ceiling so I could use all possible space. If I had it all to do over again, I would cover one wall with a piece of slat panel. You can add shelves or hooks as you need. With as much money as I spent on all the shelves and brackets I would have been even to do slats. Many scrapbook stores (and other retailers) use the slat walls.
I actually just use a regular TALL bookshelf, one that looks nice. And on that bookshelf I have all of my supplies.
I, too, have a section of our guest bedroom as my "studio" or craft space. I like it to look neat and tidy at all times, so keeping my supplies all on the bookshelf is the easiest for me.
For storage on the bookshelf, I use baskets and boxes. Mostly small wicker baskets for clear stamps. Then I use photo boxes to hold inks, stickers, chipboard, etc. I have about 8 photo boxes, each labeled with what's inside so I can find what I need easily.
Also, I find purging what I don't use to be a big help. This keeps me from over-stepping my bounds and needing more storage!
Consider where your overhead lighting is also. If I had it to do over again I'd probably use an L-shaped desk and place it so that part of it goes in the middle of the room. This would utilize empty space in the middle of the room and hopefully eliminate the shadow from the overhead light on my workspace.
I bought generic Ott lights from Big Lots but I can't find replacement light bulbs for them so when they burn out I might be in trouble.
I just took photos of my room. It's messy but it's cleaner than usual. I'll get those posted in a bit.

Hope some of this helps you.
yup trying to put everything on a bookcase too, purging is a must for me now.
But love that everything is in one place.
BTW, I have multitudes of these drawers for my storage!
I LOVE these! They are the perfect size and deep enough to hold a ton of paper. I have 4 of them. One drawer each for: reds/blues/greens&yellows/brown & black/special occasions/vellum/pink & purple/misc./scraps/baby/tags/i can't remember the last one..lol
After trying many different ways to store paper - this is the one I like the best.

I use the wire crate thing as well. I think you can still get them at Target for like $15-20. I have like 3 sets of the plus wire ties. makes putting up paper shelves easy and you can customize as needed
I have a Pampered Chef tool turnabout for a lot of my tools such as hand punches, scissors, wheel handles, spritz, brayer, etc. I have 3 of the 12x12 sterilite paper storage for my 12x12 paper storage. I have an old wooden cassette holder to store my ink cartridges. Pencils boxes are used to store my markers, glitter, & decorative scissors. I use old pill bottles to hold gems, eyelets. I used an old spice carousel, removed the labels & store my brads in them.
