Want to participate in a Shoe Box Swap in the greater Boston Area? Come join us for a fun and free event. Registration will be open until April 3rd, or until filled. You should make 20 card kits for this event.
April 10, Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM
What is a shoebox swap?
This is a fun swap that allows you to create a lot of cards in a short time, but only having to come up with one great idea of your own! Prior to the swap day, you will need to create a card and then make a kit for each person which contains all the supplies, as well as written instructions needed for them to create the card. The number of kits needed depends on how many people we get to sign up. I will limit the number of participants to 20.
***These cards should not take more than 10-15 minutes to complete.***
I definitely do not want to discourage challenging cards or cards showcasing “new” techniques. However, if your card is intricate and fancy you may want to pre-stamp or pre-assemble some items for the other stampers. You will need to make a completed sample of your card so everyone can see what the card is supposed to look like. Then each person will be able to complete your card and take home a variety of cards.
• This is a full card swap. Cards should have a minimum of two layers and one embellishment. You need to supply all materials needed for your card. That means cardstock, ribbon, eyelets, stamps, ink, special adhesives, etc. All cardstock will need to be pre-cut to the size needed for your card. This not only saves you money, but the rest of us time. No vendor requirements on all supplies, but quality, thick cardstock is a MUST! No envelopes need be supplied unless your card is an odd shape.
• Put all pieces needed to assemble one card into separate sandwich bags or “kits”. Include written/printed instructions for your card in your shoe box. You will not be demonstrating these, so please make sure your instructions are very, very clear so that even beginners can easily complete your card. And please be sure that your card can be completed in 10-15 minutes.
• Put your original card, your “kits”, stamps, ink and anything else that is needed but not in the basic supply kit in a Shoebox or basket. On the outside please put your name so we know who made which project. You may want to cut a few extras in case boo-boos occur. Please label all your supplies.
• Please bring a BASIC SUPPLY KIT to include: Stamp-n-scrub if you choose, scissors, adhesive, and whatever else you can’t stamp without.
• Bring your camera if you want to take pictures of the card samples in case you don’t have time to complete all the projects.
• YOU NEED TO BRING ENOUGH SUPPLIES FOR EVERY PERSON THAT ATTENDS THE EVENT TO MAKE YOUR CARD.
Keywords: Massachusetts New Hampshire Rhode Island Vermont Maine Connecticut New York Mass NE NH RI VT ME CT NY
Feel free to fill out the registration form and send it to me via the email address on the form to join the swap.

We'll spread the word to our friends. Once we tell them how much fun we had last time I'm sure we'll find a few more from here. Will you do it at home again? What if the group gets larger??

Nancy, I am open to suggestions for a location. I just prefer to keep shoe box swaps free if at all possible. There is a posibility that if we get large enough we can have it at the Air Force Base (Hanscom), and I am checking into the college too where my husband goes. A hotel contacted me after the last one mentioning they had rooms we could use for a swap. I don't mind doing it here either again if the group is 15 or less. Of course I could rearrange the house differently to accomidate more space for the day.

I think the last one worked out GREAT!! I loved the way the swaps were handled and it was nice not to have to pay for the space. But, now that we know you do such a good job, you might get more than your home can handle!! Or.. you can put a cap on attendance too, that is another option.
I am SOOO bummed that we can't come next weekend. It's just too far. Believe me, if it was just a bit closer, you would have had at least 2-3 more from here.

If people are interested in being in the Worcester area, I'd be willing to look for a place out here that could accomodate us... .kinda doubt I'd be able to find something for free though. I too enjoyed the intimate fun of stamping in your lovely house Andi, but can't imagine hosting that many of us in your personal space was all that easy!
Hi
Would you like me to look in the Hartford area? If it is more central to the attendees I'd be happy to find a place. I think I can get the community center for free
Fran
ALso Worcester gets a thumbs up from me!
It wasn't hard at all having something at my house. I am used to it. I have had things at my house for years and years. Military volunteer functions, very large groups. 12-20 stampers is nothing! It wouldn't be hard to get some tables either and rearrange the house to fit up to 20. We had 14 last time.

Hello Ladies,
I just spoke with our town Hall and there are 2 rooms (as of now) available for March. One holds 50 people and the other holds 100. The rules are we cannot charge $$. (Gotta love that). So mapquest 505 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield & say the word give me a date & I'll book it!

Looks like it's about 1 1/2 from me... which is definately do-able. I can't do March 27... there's a gathering in the Hudson Valley (Poughkeepsie NY) that a few of us are planning on going to.... other dates, I'm flexible!
We have one going on in Westford set for Sat. March 6! I believe my co-manager of the event, Christine has posted details in Non Demo & Demo areas.
Take a look and contact me if you don't find it.

I don't see the info on this one.... but I'm busy that weekend so I couldn't attend anyway.
I'm getting a bit confused, where and when are people thinking of doing things??
As far as I can gather ... the date is not confirmed, but is looking like early April. And the location is looking like Andi's house unless the numbers are too large.
Is that right??

FYI--Mine is in Westford--also at my house. But the date is set--Sat. March 6. I plan on holding one each quarter this year with different themes. This one is All Occasion Cards and yes, all the info is posted here on S/coast under Massachusetts Gathering of Stampers.
Hugs, Nola

Hi Everyone!!
March is not good for me, however early April would be ok. Our office has huge space, great parking, large open spaces and fantastic work tables for this sort of thing! We can accommodate a large group (20-30) and it would be free!
Our office is about 1 mile away from Exit 3 on Route 93, just over the border from MA in Windham, NH.
Maybe this would work?
