Meet other SCSer's in our area! We're having an SCS Meet & Greet Stamp/Scrap at Angela's Happy Stamper in Reston, VA, on Saturday, September 18, 2010, from 1 - 4:30pm.
There's a $10 fee per person (please click to register/pay) to cover the location, Angela's Happy Stamper will provide a couple of door prizes, we'll potluck some snacks and have a chance to meet other SCSer's!
PLEASE DO NOT PAY YET IF YOU ARE ON THE WAITLIST.
So we'll have lots of fun, food, prizes, classes, great new friendships... what more could you ask for!?
We'll have projects to do while there as well!
Marti is going to teach two projects:
1. a viva decor pin
2. a faux stained glass christmas card
Susan will have an ABAC project -- Kilt Pins with Charms
Karen is teaching a project -- shopping list pads
SPOT AVAILABLE TO TEACH TOO:
Remember to bring your basics, i.e. scissors, glue, tape, pops, markers (copics if you have them), cutter, etc.
Also -- charms/dangling beads/fibers/ribbons for the kilt pins, and needle nose or round tip pliers if you have them!
We'll post any other needed supplies here before the date too and as the instructors share any required items.
Instead of a shoebox card swap, we'll do a shoebox ABAC (anything but a card) swap --- you make 20 items ahead of time (already done) and we'll swap there so we each come home with 19 new ideas! (You keep one of your own of course.) All items must be handmade.
Ideas: covered post-its, tags, notepads, journals, jewelry, ATCs, magnets, pins, etc...
Spread the word to any others you know in the area too!!! Space is limited to 20 at a max.
Let's have a SplitCoast Party!
Let me know what snack/treat you want to bring -- a prize is going to the one who we vote that day as the best snack!

September in Virginia - yeah, I want to be there! Count me in girls, I'll drive down Friday, spend the evening visiting some girlfriends (and snagging a bed), and I'll join you! I was hoping there'd be a UVA home game that weekend to make it a double plus, but there isn't. Ann Marie
YEAH! ANN MARIE: Can't wait to meet you in person!
Any ideas of what kind of things you want to do there or if we want to make this some sort of swap? I was thinking something other than a shoebox card swap... maybe pins instead?
I would love to meet all of you!! Food is always a good idea. I would like to learn some new techniques or how to alter items. I will put on my thinking cap for other ideas to do. Maybe a quick Bible Study for those interested?
Awesome! So glad you are joining us too! I like the ideas! As soon as we get more folks on here, we can brainstorm and figure out what and how!

I would be interested. This is a busy time for DH with the ROTC cadets being back in full swing so for now I'd like to sign up as a maybe...hoping it's a yes;)
Hi Everyone!!! Pass the word on too about this if you know of others in the area that I missed on my PMs or posts. Would be great if we could have at least 12 of us there!!
I will plan to have a cooler filled with sodas, teas, water. If you have an addiction to a certain type like Pepsi, let me know.
As soon as we hit at least 10, then we'll figure out a better schedule or idea of what we want to do while there besides meet and eat!
This sounds like fun & I'm in! I can teach a quick Copic lesson if you'd like just let me know! I will send this to my pals Marti (Pez-a-doodle) & Amy Scheffer (Pickled Paper) as well--they live close to me in VA!

yep she passed it on - count me in! i will be gettin with Amy about it too! i would love to do a little make n take lesson if people are interested. either somethin tim holtz-y or maybe some viva decor fun....
The first time I saw VA it was Labor Day weekend. Other than quacking aspens in CO, I don't think there is a prettier place on earth... and that includes my beloved Ozarks. :-) Wish I could play but don't think hubby would understand a trip to IL (already planned) via Reston VA. hehe

Fabulous - glad you can make it too! Whatever you'd like to bring works fine I'm sure! I know we'll still need paper plates & napkins, utensils, and of course always any food!

Hi Kelly! You'll just have to explain it is via the Eastern Historical Route...

Hi Lori -- Sorry you aren't going to make it, its looking like a big fun party! I didn't realize it was a Jewish holiday, just happened to be the afternoon Angela's had open...
From the sounds of how its going, this just may be the beginning of a regular party!

We are rolling right along! I'm so excited to see so many of you can make it!
So I want to start tossing out the ideas and see what everyone has in mind:
Since we have 3.5 hours total, give or take the time to settle in and some time to just do introductions and munch, we've got about 2.5 hours probably that will be good to create. Suzanne has offered to do a quick copics session, and we also have the offer from Marti (cerridwen3301) for something Tim-Holtz-y or Viva Decor (check out her blog if you aren't familiar with it) ... both of which sound absolutely awesome and inspiring to me...
Any other brainstorming, offers, suggestions?
Do we want to do a "Shoebox" swap but with ABACs? So basically you'd make 20 of something other than cards to swap ideas with everyone else there?
I'm getting excited about this now, I don't know how I'll wait two months for it!!!
Yes, yes, yes. Please count me in. We used to live in Reston (before Angela's Happy Stamper was there) and I have always wanted to check it out. I will bring a snack. Not sure just what. It will be great to meet so many of you. Thanks Susan for getting this organized.
Hi Ellen -- Glad you are coming too! Now, the real question is if there has been any progress on the craft camper???? Maybe you can get ideas there!

Oh yeah! I'm there! Please sign me up. I can do an altered project (something school related since I'm a school teacher). I used to teach classes at Angela's so I'm really excited about seeing everyone there. I was there to meet some online friends last week and they got some great new stuff in (they always have great stuff). I'll bring some munchies too. Do we call the store and pay them or do we pay at the door???
Thanks Suzanne for giving me a heads up about this...Oh and it'll be fun meeting Marti too. I've always wanted to meet her as I am a Studio G junkie too!
Glad you can make it, looking forward to meeting you in person too. Thanks for the altered project offer too -- that would be great! That means we would have three projects to do while there, and it ought to be awesome!

Oh, and yes, we'll have to sign up and register via Angela's once she gets it set up on the site and/or by phone for us to do that and pay the $10 fee each to confirm.
I'll let you know when and provide the link once she lets me know too.
I thought it might be fun instead of swapping cards in a shoebox swap, to swap things other than cards. Could be notepads, pens, postage holders, pins, jewelry, crocheted flowers, card candy, ATCs, magnets, etc.! Anything but a card.
EVERYONE:
Do these ideas work for each of you? Anyone have other ideas or preferences?
3 Projects/Lessons:
Suzanne is going to teach us Copics
Marti is going to do something Tim Holtz-y or Viva Decor
Kerry is going to teach an Altered Item project
Location: In the country where it's peaceful and quiet

So you would like the ABAC items to be complete and just swap them or do you want kits that we make up while we chat?
I'm excited about the mini classes...sure hope DH doesn't need to run around in the mud with the cadets.
We could do either way... kits or already made, but I don't think we'll have enough time to make all the kits if so, would we? We will have about 2.5 hours to do the 3 lessons and the kits if so!
The ABACs would be in place of the card swap that is done at convention. But I suppose if you would prefer to do a card instead of an ABAC, that would be fine too.
What do you all prefer? Kits to make the items with instructions in them in case we don't get to them all, or already made items (ABAC or Cards or both?) to swap???

We could also make cards and bring them to swap with others kinda like they do at convention.
