Would anyone like to do a "Secret Sister" type of a thing for this? We could do nice Lottery type items or a "white Elephant" dirty santa? type of thing where we each make something really ugly. Jean was telling me about it at the friendship swap and it sounded so funny where you can keep the ugly item you win or "steal" someone elses not as ugly item. It just sounded fun as a stampers game. Something to kick arouond between now and then.
Mel
But, but, but ... wait a minute! We weren't talking about Dirty Santa in connection with stamping or cards. Sounds kinda blasphemous to talk about 'ugly' and stamping and card making in the same sentence, Mel! LOL!
BUT ... we could maybe each bring a stamper's item we're no longer using that we could play the game with. If we did this, we'd need to set up a price range so folk would have an idea. That way someone doesn't bring in a $.50 sheet of stickers and someone else brings in a retired SU! set. How does that sound?
On the other hand, it sounds like there are already a lot of great things going on. Maybe we want to save the Stamper's Lottery Game for another gathering?
(Boy, wouldn't take much and soon all the creative minds here would have enough to keep us in CURD heaven for a week, don't you think?! LOL!)

I have a tv in my spare room for guests but I never turn it on --- haven't watched a tv at home in over 6 years so I'm not one counting on that for entertainment. I really think the cabin is going to be busy enough with all of us - it's not that huge of a place and with that many women together, I that we're probably more entertainment for each other than anyone needs. (Just my opinion though!) There is a tv with a DVD player. I like Jeaniebean's idea of bring a stamp set or equivilent that you want to get rid of in trade and then come up with a way that everyone can swap with each other. We used to do that at baby showers and bridal showers years ago, it was always fun. I don't like the idea of an unusable item - I'm always keeping clutter down so that white elephant thing never appealed to me, if I don't use it - it's gone! The Secret Sister with a lottery type of item sounds good - I'd love to do that.
I have enough materials for 25-40 stationary boxes so there is plenty for everyone.
I'm like Diane, I don't need anymore unuseable items, but I like the idea of trading a stamp set or equivilent that you want to get rid of in trade. We could do it in the way of 1st person chooses, next can steal from the 1st person or pick a new, next can steal from what has already been picked or take a new. When all done, names put in a dish and pulled out one by one for final steal. (By drawing you don't know who will be first, middle or last.- just an idea.)
At the cabin, Friday and Saturday night do we want to coordinate food or we each bring what we want?
Oh, I can't wait for this event...it sounds so fun and exciting. More bonding time.
Linda: No swap item needed for Sat at Atlas Mill.

Ok - I'm so excited - let me see if I know what I have to do. On Friday - I'm heading up (from Appleton) to the cabin (I don't think I know exactly what time, but I figure in the afternoon sometime ) where a I think Robin is going to teach me how to make a Stationery Box for $6.25.
Then we're hopefully going to eat lots of yummy food, which we haven't organized yet. Or maybe we'll eat first and THEN make the box - or maybe we'll eat the entire time - cool!
Then hopefully we'll get to do some stamping just for fun - I don't get to do near enough of that!
And I think we've decieded we're gonig to do a white elephant exchange where we bring a nice item and there will be stealing until the end where a number will be drawn for the final item (how am I doing so far?)
Then I might get to do some sleeping.
Then on Saturday we'll head back to Appleton to The Mill (I keep forgetting the name, sorry) where @ 10:00 a.m. a nice lady from The Paper Cut (LOVE that place -spent way to much at their Open House!) is going to teach us about paper and we're going to do some make & takes for $18.00. Then we'll have lunch until about 2:00 p.m.
After that everyone can go shopping - a coffe/tea shop has been mentioned and obviously Archivers and Scrapbook Stamping Memories & More. I will probably choose to head BACK to the cabin since I live in Appleton and those stores know me by name (a nice customer service thing BUT not good when you walk in with your husband, yikes!)
Then Saturday night we're having Lasagna, dessert, and I know I'm bringing a salad and an appitizer. And then hopefully some more stamping and chatting.
Did I miss anything?
Hope everyone is as excited as I am - I can't wait to meet all of you!
I am going to post this again in the OP but wanted to put it here as well.
You don't have to pay anything ahead of time.
If you wish to bring some cards to share your work with others you may but there will be no swaps or anything. As someone said there are plenty of things going on for the weekend.
The Class - Please bring cash or a check to pay for the class. That's $18.00.Absolutely no credit cards.
The Lunch - I am now told that lunch will be from $9.95 to $12.95 depending on what you order from the abbreviated menu. There will be separate checks for lunch. Again, please let me know if you have any dietary restrictions so I can make sure you are accommodated.
If anyone has any questions about the events at the Atlas Coffee Mill, please let me know. There is one open spot left. Please check the OP to make sure your name is there. Thanks.
After the class.... You cabin folk could purchase some scrumptious bakery for Sunday morning breakfast from Van De Walle's Bakery/Chocolate/Icecream place. Or chocolate.... Or both!
I'm sure when it gets closer Diane or Robin will tell those of us not residing at the cabin what time to come for Robin's class.
How about 7pm Friday night for the Stationary Box. Will that give everyone time to get there from work, etc?
Works for me!

Vande Walles (candy shop) has these awesome chocolate covered creamy pastries that are truly from heaven - even though I live right there, I try to only have them at special occasions because they are very very naughty. I "think" this qualifies as a "special" occasion, right?!
Hi all I emailed Diane and wanted to let you tigerlily know. I will be unable to attend this event this weekend.
Thanks and Sorry
Tiffany
Well dang! I sure hope what's keeping you away is going to be fun!

7pm on Friday will work fine for me. The cabin will be open for us all day but I won't get there until between 3 and 5 pm. (DianneB will probably arrive at the same time as me.) I'm trying to talk Kelly from Cabin on the Creek to join us on Friday night, too.
Hi! I just wanted to tell you that Susie Smith and I won't be able to make the Appleton event. I hope that you all have a great time! Elaine
Ohhhhhh! :( (I'll second the 'I hope you're doing something fun!')

Someone else's misfortune could be your good luck. 2 spots are now free for the CURDS (Creative, UtterlyRavishingDivas) get together in Appleton. Please consider joining us for a great class and wonderful lunch at Atlas Coffee Mill on the Fox River in Appleton.
See Post 1 for details. Pm me to sign up! Hope to see you there!
Today will be a GREAT day - I'm headed to Madison to drop off some items that one of our guests forgot at the Hartford Shoebox and that just happens to take me within a few miles of Archivers so I guess that I'll just have to go there!
I have checked and double checked the directions to the cabin and they look accurate. Use the directions from Yahoo Maps (do not use Mapquest's or Rand McNally's). The easiest way to get them is go to www.cabinonthecreekwi.com and click on the link they have there. That'll take you to Yahoo Maps and follow those directions, that way you can put in your own starting location and have complete directions. If you get lost, call Kelly (cabin owner) at the phone # on their site.

Six cubic yards are sitting in the driveway ... guess what I'll be doing today?! So Diane, make your day perfect and after Archivers, swing by my place and you can help me haul mulch. (totally J/K! LOL!)
For real ... have a great day! I hope you find something fun and special there. Too bad Gina's isn't open on Saturdays, that's a great little shop. In the same shopping area, just down the way from Archivers is a Michael's. There's a Joanne's near West Towne Mall that has some interesting things too, but Archivers really has the best selection. Happy hunting!

Only one month away!!!! This is going to be so much fun!!!
What type of a price range are we looking at for the stamper swap? $10?
Everyone has a I had to try it item that just wasn't what they wanted and someone else is dying to try.
Also FOOD yummy, yummy, yummy. For those of us staying at the cabin do we have any wants or recommendations? I have a cool tray for finger/party food like olives, pickles, and stuff like that. Or could bring a Tastefully Simple Cheese ball and pretzles. Still planning on the air-pop popcorn too.
I am getting so excited. Been MIA for a while. Working on completely redoing the office/craft room. Took everything out, including wall mounted cabinets. Patched walls and painted. Slowly putting back together...have to get more cubes. Also need a new body to do all this manual labor. I'll have pics at Appleton as I hope to be completely done by then.

Awesome! (I'm with ya on the new body thing ... been slugging away on one house project after another this summer. It's a good day when it isn't an Ibuprofen day ... LOL!)

OK I'm going to put this info on a couple threads and really hope the link works. Just REALLY want to get the word out.
There is a wonderful cause called Cards for Kate but if you get your cards in before October 15 you can win great prizes too. So in an attempt to tell every stamper I know, in hopes each of them will tell at least two more and so on here goes:
This little 5 year old girl has cancer so we are sending cards to her, her brother, sister, mom and dad. Go to this site to see all the details..
http/jennifermcguireink.typepad.com/my_weblog/
Gina K has info on this too, that's where I heard about it.
Happy Stamping!
Mel
is this exchange going happen at the cabin or Atlas?

That's a really good question ... along with: who all is interested in this? I'm thinking if we want to consider it at the Mill we should see what Martha thinks, if we want it to happen at the Cabin, we should see what Diane thinks (or we could find a parking lot or back alley ... J/K! LOL!). So Martha, Diane, Mel ... who wants to take this up and answer some inquiring minds?
I really just came to say that now that this is getting closer (coupla three weeks away now, right?) I'm starting to get excited to see y'all. (still bummed that tiff and Elaine can't be there ... )

I'm still a little confused about what this actually is and how it would work.
Doing it at the Mill would allow more people to play, but somebody needs to explain this too me real slow, lol!
