The post-surgery MRI showed they were able to remove 95% of the tumor rather than the 80% that was originally thought! Dakota still has all of his motor skills although he still has limited movement in his left arm like before surgery. He CAN feel things that touch his left arm, so all is good! Autumn says Praise the Lord, thanks to everyone for their prayers, thoughts, cards and everything!
Thanks so much Kelly for the update. I was getting ready to telephone Tracy to see if she had heard anything more. God is certainly watching over Dakota and Autumn's family. Oh the power of prayer!

Fantastic News about Dakota's successful surgery and recovery progress! Let's keep all the support going until that young man is home with full motor function. I hope Autumn is sleeping a little now. Anyone know how she is holding up?
The tumor tests came back cancerous so the little guy will start chemo in 2-3 weeks. Still thanking God for what He's done so far, but looks like there's a ways to go before this is over. I know Autumn is so thankful for the thoughts and prayers and cards. Please keep them flowing their way...

Hugs and Happy Weekend to all of you!
I am so sorry to hear that. I was hoping and praying for better news.
Thanks, Kelly for sharing the not so good news. Just wish we could be there to help Autumn and family as needed. Please let us know where we can forward gifts and cards for the family. I was thinking of putting a gift card for a restaurant in the area. Do you have any ideas which restaurant would be good?
Also, you could call the hospital and find out what restuarants deliver in. When we were there with Kade, they had a list of ones that would bring food there.
Also, around here we have an Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, Steak n Shake, Culvers and all of the Pizza places.

So are they home or does he have to stay in the hospital the whole time? Can you receive things at the hospital? Is the July crop/fundraiser still happening? let me know please. Keeping them in my thoughts and prayers!

I was wanting to get a crop fundraiser together for July but I am not going to be able to do that date. Things are just too hectic. I will keep you updated on when I can get it together.

hi guys, any news from Autumn? Can Dakota receive cards and such at the hospital? Let me know please. I can't stop thinking and praying for them and what they must be going through. thanks, Tracy from Michigan
Hey girls. We finally heard from Autumn. Here's what she had to say today:
I am using my 10 minutes hospital computer time to check in with you girls. Don't know what you know but heres an update.
We are currently on the rehab floor, Dakota is learning to walk again and doing well. He has leftsided weakness, left eyelid droops sometimes, left arm is not working very well at this time but they are working on it. Left leg is coming back fairly well. Everything else is good as far as him being very normal.
We do have cancer they removed 80% of the tumor and found a few slow growing cancer cells, there are some spots lower in the spine and floating in the fluid of his brain. All spots are fairly small and they are going to try to treat with outpatient chemotherapy. We should be having a Port put in and Chemo started in the next couple weeks. I still believe that the Lord has all of this under control and that Dakota will be fine. We've been on a HUGE rollercoaster with all of the new found health issues. But I feel God's peace surrounding us and am not worried like I was before. I am learning lots about cancer and brain and spinal cord tumors. Dakota is having some out bursts here and there but they say that has to do with the brain tumor he had and the fact that his body has gone through some major trauma.
Well I guess my time here on the puter is up. Asking for you all to continue praying and sending you all my love.
Autumn posted this on Dakota's Care Page on Saturday.
Just a fly by update. Dakota is going home Thursday evening for awhile. HE still has lots of therapy to do but we will drive the 50 minute drive here and the 50 minute drive home so that he can get acclamated to home again. He is not loving the hospital scene anymore and is have outbursts that are a bit funny and alot scary if that makes any sense. Reading all the brain tumor books it makes lots of sense. We will return on the 16th of July to have his port surgically inserted and while he is sleeping they will do a spinal tap to see if any of the spinal fluid contains cancer. Please pray that it does not. He will have his first round of Chemotherapy on the 16th also. We will stay overnight and then come home the next night. We are being told that at this time they will do his Chemo outpatient once a week. I'm glad we are going home as we are getting low on fundage and the cafeteria while the food is pretty good gets a bit expensive to eat three meals a day. So far though my aunt paid a house payment for us. They have started a donation account for Dakota and we have received some donations to help with family expenses. We have met some wonderful and giving people through this rollercoaster ride. I am missing you all and asking that you continue to pray for Little D. Thanks. Love ya girls.
Has anyone heard if Dakota is still going home tomorrow???? Are they staying at home??? Would it help to do a couple of meals for them??? I don't mind doing that at all....just need to know.

Kristy, You are such a sweetheart. Yes, we are home. As for food our neighbors have overwhelmed us with a month of frozen meals. LOL Our freezers are busting at the seams.
We are just gonna try and spend the next few days at home together before we go back for surgery. Thanks for being such a sweetheart though. I would appreciate your continued prayers for Dakota though. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks sooo much Kristy. Some people from our church brought over a bunch of steaks, hamburger and roasts that they picked up at the butchers for us. I almost died. I won't have to grocery shop for awhile. LOL Have been doing lots of cleaning and such so that I won't have to do much for awhile after the Little Guy's port surgery on the 16th. I appreciate all the prayers ladies. How is the Crop planning going?

From Carepages.com about a Trivia Benefit for Dakota:
Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a Trivia Benefit being held for Dakota on July 26th at 7pm. The benefit will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, in the Fellowship center (which is also the church basement). Tables hold 6 to 8 people and it's $15.00 a person. If Dakota's counts are doing well that week he will make a brief appearance. I promised to let everyone know when these things would take place. Thanks to everyone for all the support they have been giving us

Who would we talk to about getting a table at the Trivia event?
Oh man! I want to go to Dakota's trivia night - but we moved the time up for our shoebox swap so I could go to my girlfriends wedding in the early afternoon and reception shortly after. If any of you are going that come to the shoebox swap I want to "buy" a ticket or or donate or something. Maybe if one of you is going you can take my "ticket $" donation? Maybe if any of us are making thank you cards for the group at the shoebox we can send those over to the trivia night for Autumn to use. - Just a thought.
Great idea Heather, for all of us that can't make it. I will design my card to be a thank you card, and anyone that wants to donate them we can. Let keep thinking about anything we can do for their family. I will bring a big stack of envelopes to donate, also.
Dee
I don't know anything more about the Trivia night - just what I posted from the carepages site - sorry -
Here is another update:
10 July 20, 2008 at 11:50 AM CDT
another update:
Another quick update: Port surgery went well. Still no news about the spinal fluid so I am hoping that no news is good news. Little man got his first round of chemo on Wednesday night, which seemed to go well, he watched cartoons and flopped around on the bed. We came home on Thursday and he was sick on Friday and Saturday a bit and he is not eating much but thats to be expected. I find that I get really nervous when he gets sick from the chemo, not sure why as him being sick before didn't really affect me in this way. Maybe because I know whats making him sick now, not sure. He has physical & occupational therapy on Monday, Chemo on Wednesday and occuptational therapy on Friday. Things have been a bit hectic and I am sorry I didn't update sooner.
I did a quick internet search and found this contact info for the church - if anyone has time please call and get information for us......

Marilyn: Thanks for asking about us. Trivia night went well. Dakota is slowly loosing weight but hanging in there and doing well. He is such a trooper. We are amazed at how strong he is physically and mentally. DH is having issues with his employer which is nothing new.:(
There is another fund raiser for Dakota on September 21st from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Collinsville KC Hall. It's dinner, drinks, silent auction, raffles and some other things. Tickets are $20 a person and I can get them from my aunt if anyone is interested you can pm me. I am hoping that Dakota will feel well enough to attend. He did make a brief showing at the Trivia night but only stayed for a few minutes. It was soooo hot in the room. We had our third round of chemo yesterday and Dakota handled it really well again. Thanks for checking on us and I will try to be better about updating more often.
