i'm relatively new to scs (march) and have found it to be a wealth of ideas and information. i live in the big pool area and just thought it would be neat to know if there were fellow addicts around. who knows, maybe at some point it would be fun to get together for a swap or something. but for now, just let me know it you're out there. -deb
I know that there are quite a few of us in/near the Balitmore area and D.C. area. I am not sure about Hagerstown. There has been two shoebox swaps here in the Baltimore area and should be another one coming at the beginning of Aug. Watch this post for the next one. Kristy
We drive through Hagerstown twice a year, lol. I live in Beltsville, near Silver Spring and we drive to Michigan for vacation in the summer, then home again.
Too funny. I am from Hagerstown!! I am now living in Texas.
I will be back in the area at the end of July. Sorry though I don't know any other stampers from that area.
I live in Laurel and will be driving past Hagerstown on my way to WV on Sunday. I guess I am about 1 1/2 hours from you. I am sure there are other out your way. You will find them or they will find you (LOL).
Theresa-I grew up in Beltsvills and now live in Laurel. I didn't get far did I (LOL).

Kathy,
Where in Laurel are you? Did you go to the No. VA shoebox swap? Do you know Monica (my upline) in Laurel?
Neat! Another small world connection:cool:
Hey to those around Hagerstown and surrounding areas. Did you know about the Offray Ribbon Factory Outlet!! Yes Outlet! They had a sale earlier this year and my sister got me 38 rolls of ribbon for $3.00, it was a 1 cent sale. They make the ribbon for JoAnn's (the little ribbon bobbins as well as the bigger ones) and Michael's ribbons. Can't wait I'll be there, all the way from Texas, at the end of July.
Where is that exactly? At the prime outlets in Hagerstown or something? Never heard of it... would love to go there..
I'm in Winchester VA.

the ribbon outlet is really great! i go fairly often. i went a few weeks ago and they were having a sale. 12 spools of ribbon for a dollar (spools were 3-5 yards). i kid you not. i spent less than $10 and had almost 120 spools of ribbon. you can't always do that well, but even with no sales and just the outlet prices you always get a bargain. the stock also varies so you can't depend on getting a particular design or color. but i've never had to leave empty-handed . if anyone reading this ever gets to hagerstown and needs directions, pm me and i'll be glad to help.
hi lorie! the only stores in hagerstown that carry stamps (to my knowledge) are the two craft chains: a.c.moore and michaels. joanne fabrics has a very small stamp section. we do have a nice scrapbooking store called ScrapMania. the address is 18710 crestwood drive, hagerstown. it is off pennsylvania avenue behind Play It Again Sports. if you need directions to any of these places just let me know and i'll be glad to help you out. in the meantime, if i think of anyplace else i'll let you know. there is a stamping store i've heard about but haven't been to in gaithersburg, md. (which i think is about an hour's drive from hagerstown) called the rubber chicken, if you're interested. www.rubberchickenstampart.com
have a good and safe trip! -deb
hello all! several people have asked for addresses and directions to the ribbon outlet, so here goes.
Maryland Ribbon Co.
857 Willow Circle
Hagerstown
general directions: from I70 take the Sharpsburg/Hagerstown exit heading north towards hagerstown, not sharpsburg. (if you're heading west on 70 there's only one exit, if you're heading east it's the second exit (the exit after the bridge, not before). proceed to the second stop light (intersection with Oak Ridge Drive. there's a big Sheetz on the right) and turn right onto Oak Ridge Drive east. follow that road (you will go over a single lane stone bridge) to the stop light (intersection with Frederick St./alt. rt. 40). turn left at that light. proceed across another bridge until you come to a stop light (intersection with Wilson Blv.). do not turn. proceed straight through that stoplight. you will pass a bank on your right. the very next street on your right is Willow Circle. turn there. this will take you to a T. Maryland Ribbon is on the right and left sides. the outlet store is on the right hand corner. enjoy!! -deb
Ended up going today instead.... ran out of time yesterday.
BTW - thanks DEB for the directions =) Perfect.
I ended up spending $19.58 after tax for everything... (and spent about an hour there going through the boxes of ribbons).
I bought 26 bows for the top of presents, that are made of fabric ribbons... they were 10 cents each. They are PERFECT... not sure what was wrong with them, but they were supposed to go to Tarrgeyy.
Then, I got a few of their 50 cent rolls.. and another $3.00 roll of 50yds grossgrain, wide... chocolate brown (22yds of that is going into one of the embelleshment swaps I'm in. Then 60 rolls of 3 yd runs... all 10 cents each. Various items... .sheers, grossgrains, just plain ribbons.
I might be able to take a photo of them and upload... would I upload to my gallery? I don't think I can post a photo to a thread (correct)?
They have so much to choose from. Some are ugly, some are nice. Some are "bad dye" colors... but I would not have known... WELL worth the price.
Oh... I got a lot of bags for 35c.. which usually has two different kinds of ribbon... usually about 10 yds per color in the bag the lady said.
Hello, I'm in Middletown, MD! I know there are lost of other stampers in the area as well as demos (I'm a demo), but I really don't know many of them. Do any of you get together and stamp just for fun? I'd love to! Heck, I'll even host one at my place later in July. Anyone interested?
Hi Deb and the other Crabbies! (in a nice way -;) ) I grew up in md, and moved to southern PA from Frederick,MD.
2 years ago I planned a Shoebox Swap in New Market,MD. It was a blast. Maybe I should try to get another one going. Last year was too crazy and I wasn't able to plan one. But - we had so much fun, and it was great to meet other SCS'ers and fellow demos.
So - I will let you know if I am able to do one this fall. Take care - Michelle
Woohoo - more stampers in my neck of the woods. Just now seeing this thread (thanks Lori!). I live in Hagerstown, so anyone passing through (or already here) feel free to contact me! I've been busy with work lately, but normally consider myself a SAHM. There are lots of stampers (Demo and Non-Demo) in the area as well.

woohoo from me too! hello pauline, michelle, and karen! i had begun to give up on finding any scs'ers around since i first posted this thread back in april. now all of a sudden within just a week or so we've discovered a whole slew of fellow addicts. i really think we should get together somewhere, if only for lunch and to talk and meet each other. then when we're together, maybe we could plan a shoebox swap or something. what are your thoughts? -deb
Just thought I would let you know there is a shoebox swap on the west side of Baltimore on August 5th. This will be the 3rd time we have gotten together and had a great time.
Here is the info and the thread if you are interested.........
Are you guys ready for another shoebox swap??? I sure am. It's going to be held at the same location as the one in May - Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 10911 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD. It's pretty easy to get to off of Rte. 795.

Karen,
Did you grow up in Hagerstown or recently move there?
After reading about the ribbon factory I see a road trip in my future to Hagerstown. Hey Theresa want to take a road trip :-) And we could meet Deb and say Hi!
Kathy,
Sounds like fun but it depends on what day you pick! I work most Mondays through Thursdays. I drove my daughter to camp at Garrett College this morning, so I drove by Hagerstown and Prime Outlets but I was too tired to even look for this store. Send me a PM if you want to set a time.
Hi Deb and Michelle and Karen and eveyone else from this neck of the woods! I'd love to do a swap or lunch or whatever. Anyone have a timeframe that's good or not so good? I'm willing to organize or help to organize!
Pauline

Is the ribbon outlet open on Sunday? What times? This sounds awesome!
Janet in Northern VA
just wanted to check in and let you know i haven't forgotten about you all. i definitely think we should try to get together sometime. but with the busyness of summer and vacations, i'm thinking maybe sept or oct.
i'm just glad to see there are this many of us in the area. and i know of a few more who haven't posted on this thread. have a great day!
For anyone willing to travel south, I'm organizing a shoebox swap for the "DC Area" in Beltsville, just at the Powder Mill Rd (Rte 212) exit from I95 (just before the Washington Beltway).

Hey,
Wanted to let everyone know about the HUGE TENT sale at the ribbon factory outlet in September. I think it's the 24-25th. I think they also have a $.01 sale at that time also. I so wish I could come, someone has to go so I can live vicariously through you.
hi lorie! thanks for the heads up about the sept sale. i'll be sure to check it out. how was your visit to hagerstown, and did you do well at the ribbon outlet? -deb
I did absolutely fabulous at the outlet. I bought probably 6 of those bags you mentioned. They had about 30 yards each in them. I've had enough to supply 6 of my friends with at least 2 yards each. I went to the outlet three times!! My secret sister also received a nice little bundle. I also happened to be there for an AC Moore sale. Got 4 packs of Bazzill fourz for 40% off. They don't have AC Moore here. Also got one of my favorite stamp sets I've been wanting. Rhonna Farrer Swirls. They had a great selection of clear stamps that can't be found down here.
My visit however is probably my last, my mother is unbelievably horrid these days to tolerate and I just can't put myself or my family through that anymore( but that's a whole other story).
I did have a nice visit with my sisters though!!
I just saw this thread - - I go to Hagerstown quite frequently to the AC Moore and ScrapMania. I live in West Virginia off Route 81 right outside of Martinsburg.
Thanks for the heads up about the ribbon sale in September I'll have to mark my calendar for that one as I've really been wanting to go there and now I'll have a good reason to.
I just saw this thread. I live in Chambersburg, Pa, and would love to come to an event if someone is organizing one. I also never heard of the ribbon store. I'm in Hagerstown often, and at the Prime Outlets several times a year. I'll be checking it out soon.
