*MD* 03/12/2011 SBS Laurel, MD - MD City VFD Hall - Full with wait list
Hello Stampers. I hope everyone is surviving the winter and is looking forward to spring like I am. Let’s warm up some with some stamping and a shoe box swap.
The shoebox swap will be on Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 9:00am until 5:00pm, at The Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department Hall, 3498 Fort Meade Road, Laurel, MD 20724. Doors will not open till 8:30am to allow me to finish setting up. This Swap will have no particular theme.
There will be room for 26 stampers (over 18 years of age please) to attend and each stamper will bring a shoebox swap for 25 people to make and something to share for lunch. There is a $10 non-refundable charge per person for hall rental and will need to be sent to me prior to the swap to secure your spot. Everyone who signs up must have a Splitcoaststamper ID. After you sign up I will send you a reply with the registration form included. Please complete a registration form and return it to me along with your swap fee. The information collected is for my use if I have to contact you regarding any changes in the swap.
All cards are to be full cards. Please bring enough supplies for everyone to make your card including all cardstock, stamps, inks, embellishments, tools, etc., along with your own adhesives and basic tools (like scissors, bone folder, etc) to use on all the projects we make. Please make sure all of your supplies are labeled with either your name or initials, so we all go home with the stuff we brought. Each person is to provide a sample of your card for reference in your box along with typed instructions telling how to make your card. Please also separate your supplies in to individual baggies or envelopes containing everything each person needs to do your card. This really helps make the swap go much smoother. PLEASE use Stampin’ Up! stamps, cardstock and inks. Stampin’ Up! Paper and ink colors can either be current or retired.
Everyone is asked to please bring something to share for lunch. When you sign up for the swap, please post what you’ll bring for lunch. I will have access to the kitchen for ice and refrigerator use but not the stoves, so please do not bring anything to be baked or that needs to be heated up. Crock pots are always welcome.
There will be several door prizes throughout the day.
I will be setting up a FREE table where you can bring in anything you have that is stamping or scrapbooking related that you don’t want any more and you are willing to give away to a good home, like used sheet of stickers, cardstock or page kit leftovers that you don’t need/want any more. You know one stampers trash is another stampers treasure – LOL.
This time I will be collecting full cards for Operation Write Home (Operation Write Home: Helping Heroes Keep in Touch with Home). OWH is an organization that collects handmade cards and sends them to our heros stationed over seas so they have something to send home to family and friends. I will have 2 drawings for the cards donated. First drawing will be for anyone who brings in full cards that follow the OWH guidelines that I will post below, with an envelope and stamps the OWH stamp on the backs of the cards for me (I will have 2 stamps for you to use at the swap). This means these cards are complete and can be sent to them right away. The second drawing will be for any cards without envelops, card fronts and cards not stamped on the back. You will get 1 ticket for ever 5 cards, or portion there of, donated in either group. Prizes: the drawing for the completed cards with envelopes and stamped on the back will be $20 in Stampin’ Up! product from me, your choice. The drawing for the cards without envelopes, card fronts and cards not stamped on the back will be $10 in Stampin’ Up! product from me, your choice.
Here are the Operation Write Home guidelines: No glitter or any kind (it poses a hazard to the troops in the field), A2 sized cards (4 X 5 1/2), Dark cards must be lined inside with light paper so they can be written on. Some lumpyness on the card is fine. No written sentiments on the inside or outside. Use quality supplies and please make sure everything is glued on well. No adult cards themes. No store bought cards. Please no party invites, baby/bridal announcements, mommy or daddy cards, retirement or wish you were here. Good card themes are: Birthday, Love, Thank you, Miss you, Thinking of you and blank or note cards. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

We will also be doing the mini yard sale again like we did at the September swap. Here is the info:
I will have several tables around the room marked as Yard Sale tables. Each attending stamper may bring 20 items to sell. I am limiting the number of items to make sure there is enough room for everyone who wants to sell something. Each item must be clearly marked with a price and who is selling the item. Put small items in a zip loc bag with your info and price clearly marked on the bag. It will up to each seller if they will accept checks or just cash. You will be responsible for the items you bring and neither I nor the Fire Department will be responsible for any lost , broken or stolen items. Please let me know when you sign up if you will be bringing any yard sale items so I can put up enough tables for everyone. Please note that the sales tables will be shared so PLEASE be mindful and leave room for others to put their stuff on there too. If there is not enough room on the table then place you items under.
So your list of stuff to bring is: your shoebox swap (any theme), something to share for lunch, your basic tools (scissors, adhesive, bone folder, etc), Any items you wish to sell and cards to donate to Operation Write Home if you wish.
I look forward to seeing you there and having another great day of stamping.
Kathy

Reason: Added Mini Yard Sale
Hi Kathy-
I had a great time at your last swap. Count me in for March 12. Will there be tables to bring things to sell like you had a the last swap? I picked up some good sets.
Hi Kathy! I would love to come. I am trying to make a switch at work so that I can, I hope I will be able to, here's hoping, I need a day of stamping and laughing with the ladies

The list is all updated thru this post. We have only 9 spaces left.
Michele asked about doing the small yard sale again like the September swap. OK with me and the same rules apply as last but this time lets try a max of 20 items per person to be sold. Let me know if you are bringing items so I can have enough tables up for everyone. Please note that the sales tables will be shared so PLEASE clearly label all of your items for sale with your name and price and please be mindful that the table is shared and leave room for others to put their stuff on there too. If there is not enough room on the table then place you items under. The fire dept is not responsible to any lost or stolen items. I will add this to the first post about the swap also.
Sounds like a fun day.
Kathy

I only mean bad in the Very Best Possible Way.......now some of the other Meade ladies....hmmmmmmm, they can be really bad in just the best possible way. ;) And I heard you can get downright bad too. I guess bad is a good thing!
