When I went unmounted, I struggled deciding due to the possible resale issue. I watched a couple of auctions on E-Bay and decided it didn't look like an issue. Plus I figured there are plenty of us on SCS that are unmounted and I could trade or sell on SCS.
I prefer ez mount. There has been plenty of discussions on other options - I would do a search on the forums to determine what will work best for you. Sunday International has a new thin EZ mount that I use for my new SU stamps. If I am unmounting sets from wood, I use regular EZ mount and a hot knife after I microwave the stamps to get them loose from the wood and cushion.

I've gone UM - and I've used the thin EZ Mount (love it!) but I've done mine a little different. Check out my gallery to see how. I store them on the lids of the SU cases and put those in boxes. I have a lot of sets and they are only in 6 boxes on my bookshelf. It is so much easier.
However, I did not do my alphabets or the everyday flexible phrases. I dont know if it was just because I was tired of doing the whole process (it took me about a week and a 1/2 of doing them during the day and after dinner) or what. I really dont think that I will either.
About the re-sale ~ I did not think of that because I personally dont think that I would ever sell them. If I did I'd just be happy to get something out of them to put back into my crafting...

I unmounted the stamps that I thought that I would keep for a while, if you keep the blocks they can be remounted on the wood block, that would meant storing the blocks in your attic or basement somewhere.
I like having the image on the back of my stamp, if you would like the directions on how to do that visit my blog for directions with pictures.
For alphabets you can put them on glossy cardstock and slip them into page protectors that you get for full sheets of paper at staples and then in a notebook.
2. Can anyone show me a pic of a notebook system to store my unmounted alphabets? I'd like to keep them on my desk for my scrapbooking.
3. I'll be using acryllic blocks, so I'm assuming that EZ Mount is probably the easiest/best all around system, right?

You're awesome for referring to older threads!!! To respond to a couple of your questions, I've tried TiOnO and vinyl cling, and vastly prefer EZ Mount so long as you do the whole trick with applying baking soda/corn starch/baby powder with a paintbrush to the exposed glue first. And, rather than a binder system I prefer keeping my UM stamps on half sheets from a magnetic photo album in a little box. If you stored your alphas this way, you could flip through the box on your desk and then pull out the whole alpha at once to work with and move the box off your table rather than have to decide what to do with a big binder or notebook on your work surface. I know lotsa folks
love the binder system, but it's never been for me. I even disliked using binders in school.
I am using Tack n' Peel on my blocks for now. You can rinse if it looses its stickyness, and use the other side of the blocks for any clear stamps you have. The thought of mounting all of my stamps on EZmount is just too much for me (time and $$ if you have lots of sets.
I store my bare rubber in the sheet protectors my son had for his baseball cards, these fit in regular 8x11 binders. For sets/images I don't use as much I just peeled them off the block (with the foam) and stuck them in a CD case. The sticky on the foam works for quite a while.
I only need to buy tack n peel to mount on the blocks,
not on each stamp.
I use the SU image sticker and put on the foam side of the trimmed rubber.
and store in cd case.
I am not going to unmount existing sets, just going forward with new sets.
