Wow, they did it again, another awesome publication! So many cooool tags! I might just start sending tags instead of cards....some of the are about the same size!!!
Where did you buy the Paper Crafts Tag Creations? I may just order it directly from Paper Crafts. Unfortunately, it will probably be cheaper for me to do that than step foot in M's or J's......
I'm one of those weirdos that just doesn't get the tag "thing" (Tag art). I do like seeing small/med tags incorporated into card designs. . .
I also don't get altered books.
Don't get me wrong--they are beautiful and lovely to look at . . .
But, I just don't get "it" . . .
I even bought a book to alter--thinking I "should" make one . . . but, I just find the whole altered books craze just mystifying . . . and have absolutely no desire to ever make one.
I know, I know . . . I'm just weird that way . . .

Oh my gosh, I am soooooooo glad I am not the only one who doesn't get altered books. The other thing I don't get is the whole shabby chic trend and I really don't get collage (I think collage and altered art go together.) I signed up to take a class at my LSS next week thinking it will help me understand and get "it."
It is reassuring to know that even the infamous JulieHRR doesn't get something. There is hope for the rest of us mere mortals.
I'm with Julie and Fran....I DON'T GET IT, either. I do love to look at the stuff, but I just don't have the 'vision' I guess to do collage, altered books or altered tags. I thought I was the only one....that's why I love this site...you find out you're not alone!!
I would be willing to listen to anyone who could explain 'it' to me....but, thus far, no one has gotten through to my pea brain!!
Oh, I'm glad to know that there are others who don't "get" altered books. I am NOT looking down my nose, believe me! but what are you supposed to do with them? I genuinely don't know!
I used to like Rubber Stamper mag, but it has gone so collage-y that I don't buy it anymore. I really like the Paper Crafts style, and the style of some of the scrapping mags (even though I really don't scrap....)
I remember a few years ago when I first started stamping and would look in the back of RubberStampMaddness magazine and swaps would say "no cute." I guess we're the "cute" stampers!
Tag Creations was at my local scrap and stamp store. They had just come in yesterday!!! Hot off the press!!!
And...yeah, I don't get the whole altered process either but I do love tags and they are fun to!! I love, love, love the books and tins I see but just haven't taken the plunge myself yet either!!!!
OMGosh!!! I am so thrilled that I have a common bond with Julie HRR!! I feel like a Princess! Julie, if you did "get" altered book making I KNOW that you would alter an awesome one!!! You are that good!
One of my LSS is selling book-things to alter for like $8.00 and up-that's like buying jeans with holes in them! What am I going to do with an altered book? I can't read it and 99% of the people I know would not even understand why one would create such a thing. Well, I guess everyone has "their art".
The Tag Creations book sounds neat, not 'cause I make tag books or anything, but I just really like to buy magazines.
Man, we gotta get the gallery back. I am reading way too many threads and replying with pretty much nonsense. Help us, Big D!!!

Does that tag magazine show tag books? Those are quire popular. I love the look of them.
I so want to learn collage and shabby chic. It's neat when other people do it. For some reason...I just can't get it to look right. It looks like I had my golden retreiver help me. I guess it's like that when I look at some of the cards I make. They look cute when other people do them and then when I do them...they look silly.
Thank goodness there are others out there thinking like me. I like tags and have done a swap with tags with the end use towards scrapbooking. I've used little tags as card accents.
But that altered book thing...why? What's the purpose? It's like that staple thing...personally I do not like the look of staples in my cards or scrapbooks either.

Altered books - that is the book that I cut out all the centers of the pages so that my 6 year old could have a secret hiding spot?
Tags, those are the "dudes" that I stamp thank you on and attatch to the front of a card, or what I write a name on and tie to the Easter Basket....
So - now if I make a really nice tag I can attatch it to the present and not make a birthday card or would that be poor etiquite (however you spell at 6 am)
