It happened today......I knew I had gone over the edge a long time ago but this time it really happened. My granddaughter was playing with a fleece blanket that I had sewn up for a dog bed. Somehow she had started to unravel the thick black thread that created the blanket stitch along the edge. After telling her, NO!, I broke the thread at the blanket and started to roll what she had pulled out to throw it away. As I started to throw it, I thought......HEY......this thread is pretty thick. I should save it for some card work. OMG!! Over the edge. Saving thick thread from the dog bed.
I'm sure it has happened to you too.......well, at least I hope I'm not the only one!!

I am throwing a rope over the edge to pull you back up.
Now don't think about using the rope on a future card. Go ahead pull yourself back over the edge.
I don't think your over the edge...I think if it doesn't move stamp it. Okay the cat did stamp himself the other night by walking through the pad while I was trying to stamp. BUT, if it doesn't move STAMP IT!
That's funny!! If you use the piece of thread on a card, do not reveal the source to the intended recipient.
I save scraps and tidbits all the time. I was at an ornament exchange last year and can you believe that some of the ladies were actually going to throw out the fancy ribbon that the gifts were tied with. I jumped right in there and saved the ribbon. I'm not sure if they were all that impressed with me as it was rather an upscale crowd. OH WELL!!
Not only have I saved christmas ribbons but I save boxes, gift tags and if it's in good shape the paper too! That confessed - I have to fess up to saving blister packaging from a variety of things just so that I can cut out pieces in odd shapes for shaker cards! At least I haven't started buying things just for their packaging. I just may need a 12 step program.

I have a new obsession for saving ribbon. I got a few Godiva Chocolate boxes and they all have this GREAT ribbon around it. I think I might like the ribbon almost as much as the chocolate - NO - just kidding!
I will never forget going to a SU Regional meeting a couple of years ago...We had box lunches and everything was packaged in its own little plastic container that had lids on it. When everyone started finishing their lunch instead of throwing everything away, they just dumped the food they didn't eat and kept the container. Shelli was so impressed that she decided that she needed to keep the container herself and use it some how and made comments after lunch to the effect.
By the way, I didn't keep mine. I have too much piled up as it is.
I saw someone say somewhere that the clear plastic covers you get from a deli type cafeteria with a recycle value of 6 is the same plastic in ShrinkyDinks!!!
Yes, I saved mine (and "accidentally" didn't pull them apart when two stuck together, for shame!)
No, I haven't tried it yet but if it works, I'll be sure to post it.
