I wanna print text on a scrap of card stock or a punch out, etc. without having to run to my 'putah and printer every time (in another area of the house). It's so time consuming for me to get the alignment, and blah blah blah all set up.
I'd also like to print text on ribbon.
I've heard there's a bit of a learning curve with this gizmo.
Can you tell me the pros and cons of whether or not this would be a good tool for me, based on what I want to be able to do with it? AND, importantly, for what it CAN do, and whether or not I'll be able to LEARN to do it (or end up frustrated trying--hah!), is it worth the investment to get one???
TIA!

I played with one of these this morning and while I do not know the ins and outs of it....it was an AWESOME tool to be able to use. I printed on ribbon....it takes some time to dry, but it looks GOOD. As far as learning how to use it...yes. It is pretty simple to use and the only thing I struggled with was the speed of dragging it across the paper...that only took a minute to catch on to.
I don't think we've met. Funny you mention this, I just had it in my hand at lss with a 50%off coupon. I didn't end up getting it as I will be traveling next week and decided to hold on to the money.
From what I understand, you cannot spell words with it. You can only use their preprinted words and graphics. There is definitely a learning curve with this as well.
Oh my, this is one of my very favorite tools. It takes some getting used to but when you do, this is awesome. I just wish there were more colors of ink available. I would like to have blue. I wish instead of green, they did black, blue and red. But I love it. Have several of the discs.

Good Luck.

:( Well, then it will not do what I need, sadly. I was kinda gettin' excited.
BUT, you just saved me a butt-load of $$$! Thank you! {{{{Valerie}}}}
And, pleasure to meet you!

I have one and no, it will not print an individual letter so that you can spell what you want. But it does have lots of words on each cartridge. Still no help to you. But if you ever want it for other reasons I recommend the runner. It is a neat little tool and to me it worth the money.
There are 2 fonts I know of in my area. With it you can print a word or letter you wish.
BUT I can not change the size of the font.
ALSO there are only three colors available in my area. Black, red, and green. Maybe someone in a bigger area may have more colors and fonts.
I have to say it has been handy but I wish it let me change the font size.
The little disk that comes with it only has specific words with no changes so if you decide to get it you may want to try to use a second coupon for a font.
Just my 2 cents.

I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.
I love mine, but I forget to use it all the time
Yup, you can spell out words. I have the engraved font, and it's beautiful.
I practiced a bunch and learned the best way for me to line it up. Not perfect, but I'm happy with it.
I also have the calendar font which is great for scrapping. Prints out the whole words and looks very sharp.
Xyron has a great forum where you can learn a lot from the q&a sections.
My opinion for you personally: you would get a bunch of use out of it for printing on your cards, but you might have to spend some money on discs.
the ribbon printing has to be on wide ribbon for me, and I'm just not good at it. you may have a better time with it.
My advice: borrow one from a friend or I Remember When instructor (they are joined with Xyron) before you buy one....
Or take the ferry and come use mine
I am sorry.... I hated the tool. I bought it along with 8 disks, all excited. Then the print out looked like a print out from an old dot matrix printer. You know what I mean? A waste of my $ IMHO. But... I managed to give this tool to a good home for $300 worth of SU goodies (about 2000 sheets of SU cardstock in assorted colors and several sets of stamps). So I am happy and the person who got it is very happy with it. I guess I did something wrong with it after hearing so much good stuff about it. ???
Well I am really glad that this thread exists. This past weekend my daughter and I were at Joanne's and they had a guy there demoing it. It was really cool and my daughter thought it would be a great gift for me for Christmas. My girl, who is a smart one, asked about the ink colors...and they only had black, red and green. I think changing the font size would be really nice as well. Thanks for the information ladies....you saved me money...:-D
