A good friend of mine has invited me to a fundraising crop for her school's PTA. It's a short one...6pm until we get tired, probably 10pm or so. I have not attended a crop for years. I have a nice scrapbook room and I tend to enjoy creating there instead of going to crops. I used to attend quite a few, and I know that even if you "pack light", it takes a lot of pre-planning and packing to make it worth your time. Here's my question....
Would it be weird if I just took stamped images and printed digis and colored all night? I know I would not "complete" anything, but I feel like for the time we have, how much I don't like to pack up my stuff and how much I plan to socialize this might be the way to go. I'm just curious if others would think I've smelled too much Stazon and am nuts. Any thoughts?

Nope. Not weird. Do what you want. Bring what you want. You are going to have fun, get a night out and support a great cause. I feel the same way about crops. Too hard for me to figure out what to bring, so I usually go with very simple things that I can accomplish without having to bring a U-Haul to carry it all over to the crop.
If I know I am going to a crop I prepare pages ahead of time and just glue everything down at the crop. It's too difficult for me to be creative with all kinds of people around so I do what I know I can get done...gluing, coloring, whatever works. Go for it! and Have fun!!

Not weird at all! In fact, it's a fabulous idea! When my kids were little, I used to go to one or two crops a month. I needed to get out of the house to have some adult time. Now that they are big and I have a really nice craft area, I don't feel the need to leave to crop either. I do go to 2 scrapbooking weekends a year, but since you are there for three days, it doesn't bother me to schlep my stuff. I do miss seeing my scrapbooking friends, but I hate dragging my stuff all over!
I can't really be creative when I'm amongst a crowd. I think your idea of coloring images sounds just perfect - at least that's about all I could handle. Have fun!
I've done this. It makes sense to me - both with the hauling issue and the creative issue alluded to by others. I enjoy visiting and doing mindless work @ crops; it's not a creative place for me at all. So, when I go, I usually take something like what you're describing or just prepared items that need to be assembled. That way I'm only hauling my ATG and the items to put together.
it truly amazes me the amount people cart in. Some bring dollies to haul it all. Now perhaps this is the only time they can scrap so they keep it all in their to go cases and just move it to the crop, but I can not be creative without all my supplies at the ready. Inspiration comes spontaneously for me.
I know people who keep a whole set of supplies just for cropping. They have other sets they keep at home to work on. That's a big time cropper! One time I went to a crop and a lady just brought her lap-top and sorted and organized her photos the whole time. Lots of dragging and dropping and click click click the whole time!
I finally figured out if I get a page or two done during a day crop I am doing really well! A week-end crop plan on talking and talking and talking! LOL! Bring stuff you want to get done, but you don't have to bring everything.
I have a small cropper shoulder bag I take, and if I can't cram everything I need in that bag, well, I do without and work on what I have. It does take planning out the items you want to work on such as color theme, photos used, and style items such as punches, diecuts, adhesives, scissors, paper cutter, and embellishments. I crop with a bunch of people who have Cricuts, and most of us just use one Cricut, and share our cartridges. We have a blast doing that! Lots of talking and snacking goes on too! It's always a fun time! I am proud of the pages I finish during any crop time!
Not even a little bit weird - you'll be amazed at how many people are doing something just like it. I never really expect to get a lot done at the crops - but I love going to get re-energized with all the creative energy and fun time with friends. Something a little mindless and repetitive is perfect to do at a crop.
Absolutely NOT weird!
I once went to a crop where I did nothing but sort photos and put completed pages in albums. It was stuff that needed getting done and I wanted to spend time with my craft gals, but I didn't feel up to crafting. It was a relief not to have to pack a bunch of junk, plan ahead, etc.
I like that idea!!! Before things got hectic for us all, my friends and I would get together. I got so tired of hauling all of that stuff, and then having to put it all away when I got home. Sometimes I would take embroidering or sewing instead, as it was less to haul. But I like your idea of taking digis to color to crops and get-togethers. Great idea!!
You could design your Christmas cards and just cut the paper and bring whatever accessories/embellishments/tools you need to get going on just that one project. When ever we travel to visit family I always try to design one card and bring along everything to make multiples of it. Cut everything at home then you don't have haul a trimmer etc. I can get everything to fit into a large shirt box and can sit and assemble and chat.
I do believe it is okay to bring card making supplies to a crop right? I mean you are still creating just on a smaller scale. I go to crops on occasion and so do my sisters and friends and we all just make cards. I usually plan a card to make and make sure I have all the materials for that project...I agree with some others here though..the best part is the socializing.....
blessings.

Stampnf1n as well as me too.... we are cousins!
I only look like a scrapper ;)
( I disguise my self with my carts and dolly and glue gun etc.) Haul some stuff around and I yap and yap with my pals all weekend. When I come home I have nothing to show for myself.....
oh 'cept I do have a goodie bag to bring home every time!
One of these times I might win the big door prize and then I'll really have to start scrapping and make something! lol
Well, never had too much Stazon ever effect my judgement!;)
Yes, You are on track with your thinking. Just pack your markers/ coloring agents and your digi's and maybe a glue stick and scissors/ little cutter. you know your basic tool box and you should be good to go in case they issue a mini card challenge.
You've only got like 4 hours to do anything if you don't socialize one bit so how much can you get done in a couple of hours.
Just pack one bag of All your tools for the night that you need for your project and you're good. Quick in and exit! Have fun and don't stay too late
I would probably get more done at a crop. When to a friend's house to make cards a couple of months ago. Spent the whole day there and got one card done!!
To prepare for my gabfest, I now make up card kits (about 3 of them and make at least 4 cards). All I have to do is glue.

And now we crop! Beaglelover got 3 projects and a layout done last Friday!--and still had time to gab! Can't wait til we go to the next one!
I invite friends over just about every month. One friend mostly brings images and she gets a lot colored. Others bring more stuff. Just go and have fun!

Another option would be to do a scrapbook swap-like one of the border swaps going on now. It is like designing a card to make multiples of, but when you send it in, then you get a nice selection back! I took swaps to work on at work when I worked nights in the ER.
