Default who uses double sided 3M tape as adhesive?

is this just the regular kind of double sided scotch tape? the kind you just pull of with your fingers...comes on a dispenser like 'regular' scotch tape? I am just wondering because I would like to try it out but dont want to get the wrong one!...how does the cost compare to the tombow mono refills? I have been going thru mine like WATER (and I am trying to use it sparingly!) BUT I have been getting the good price for it thru viking...I think the tombow refills after tax (we get free s/h) is around $2...I think its for 472" if I remember right but correct me if I'm wrong!

I use it in an emergency (its available at the grocery store), but its very expensive (around $4.00) and I have had cards fall apart using it.

Default 3M ds tape

it is in a yellow/black plaid 'package'. I use it all the time, and don't have problems w/ cards coming apart.

There is repositionable and permanent. I am wondering if the person that is having problems was using the repositionable?

I use Scotch double sided tape and it is the one with the yellow and black (?) label I THINK....I get it at the Base Exchange or Commisary for under $2 - I think it is a bit more at walmart - but I have not had one problem with it as of yet - I only use on my cards and crafts not in my scrapbooks

I have used the double sided tape mentioned many times and have not had any problems with it. I also use the tombo. Over where I live I can get the double sided adhesive for less than then tombo so I just guess it depends where you live. Both have worked great for me so far.

I use the scotch double sided tape, it is photo safe and permanent as long as the label says that. Be careful, not all of them are photo safe, if that matters to you. I have never had a problem with things coming apart with it. I have had things come apart with the mono and I won't use it. the Scotch is about 450 inches per roll and it is 2.57 or thereabouts at Michaels.

I have used Target brand double sided tape and I don't like it. It is tough to tear off and it is not photo safe. it is however only 1.99 a roll for the same amount of tape.

I only use Scotch permanent double sided tape from 3M. I have never had any problems with it. I have tried the "cheaper" brands and hated them. I got it at Sam's not long ago for less than $9.00 for 4 rolls with 600" on it (I think). Anyway it was really a good deal--cheaper than I pay at Wal-Mart.

The ultimate test of double sided tape - wrap it around the gradkids hands (when they are getting restless and bored) and see how long it takes to get out of the tape. Scotch double sided will keep them busy for a looooong time. The Target brand is good for a minute. Those are the only two I've tried.

don't like the Target brand, but use the scotch brand all the time. I bought the tape dispencer base (you know the kind that is filled with sand) for 3.97 at Wal Mart, and I buy the permanent double stick refills, they come 2 in a pack at WalMart for only 3.88. Each roll has either 450 or 500 ft. on it. When you compare that to the mono, I think it averages out way cheaper. Plus with the sand weighted dispensetr, you can still do it one-handed. IMO it is the best and most economical to use.

I agree with some of the others. I found the cheapest price at Sam's Club - and feel the Target brand version of it is useless. It is pretty much all I use, except for glue stick for small items. I've never had any problem with items falling apart.

I've used this for years without any problems. To save money I bought a tape dispenser at Staples for around a buck and then I can buy the larger tape refills to use in it. A better price than buying the disposable rolls. I don't know how it compares to the Sam's Club price.. I'll have to look into that.

This is my favorite adhesive to use. It's perfect for closing up sour cream or pillow box cases. It's also good for holding anything that is bulky when layering a card. It's also easy to tear it with your fingers for little stuff using the serrated edge you get when you tear the tape off of the dispenser as a tearing point.
I also like to use my Hermafix glue dot dispenser when creating cards for the first time because I can reposition it so easily.
Thanks for the tip about buying the 2 pack refill rolls of tape at Wall-Mart. I’ll have to check that out. Nan

I use this as my emergency tape. I always keep several on hand. Target sells them pretty cheap compared to other stores. I've never had a problem with it. Works great!

Default double sided tape by 3M

We use the rolls that can be used in a regular tape dispenser here at the store. I get the dispensers at the dollar store and use this tape on my make and take table all the time. The tape is awesome as for the first few hours after being applied, it is removable so you can reposition the layers. After several hours the tape becomes permanent with no hope of repositioning. The rolls are in a yellow box and say SCOTCH double sided tape. The number on the box is 665. The rolls are 1/2 inch wide, and are 900 inches long or 25 yards and sell for $4.79. You can get these tapes at office depot or office max. Just look for a yellow box. They even have larger rolls but you need a special deeper dispenser to use those and they are $23 for the empty dispenser. the tape IS a good buy for your money though. The little rolls you buy with the plastic dispenser are NOT a good buy because you are purchasing the packaging with those.

I have used it all the time. No problems. I buy it at Sam's, seems cheaper, but have noticed that they just upped the price (!). Also when I have a Michaels coupon and nothing to buy, will just pick one roll up, not bad for $1.50.

I have always liked the double sided tape. I used it instead of the monoadhesive for a loooong time (and also bought a tape dispenser at staples and bought the larger refills which worked great), but now with the Viking prices, I just use the monoadhesive because at 1.88, it's way cheaper than the double sided tape.

I use the double sided tape all the time and love it. I also use the yellow and black plaid box. I only use it on cards. I find mine at WalMart and it's cheaper than the mono refill - but I like the refill for card groups instead of lugging the dispenser around. I also found some at a dollar store - price was right - but you couldn't rip it off - it had to be cut - that was not a good bargain!

I use the permanant kind. I buy it in a 2 pack at wal-mart for $3.88. It holds great. I won't even bother with mono-adhesive again. I hate the gummy mess :(

I am so glad you started this thread! I have a bunch of mono from Viking, but I get so frustrated when a brand new one breaks....and there is no way on earth I can ever get them to work! So into the trash goes a whole wasted refill. I have bought the Scotch d.s. tape and have had no problems yet; I HAVE had cards come apart with the mono! That is VERY frustrating!
If anyone out there knows of the "best ever" 2 sided adhesive, please let us all know!

Diane

Scotch (Permanent) Double Stick Tape is my ABSOLUTE favorite adhesive!!!
I use it ALL the time. I even take it to school when I am having my kids do an art project that requires glue. We use my Scotch Double Stick tpae!
It is not expensive if you buy refills at WalMart (2/$3.90).
Can't beat it!

Once again I love the double sided tape from Sctotch.

That said, I order from Viking for my work and we order the correction tape wite out refills. Whenever these break, I just call them up and they will send out new ones the next day! They never ask for the broken ones back and as long as you advise them of this within their one year warranty of all their products, they will replace it for free.

Hope this helps! Even if you have thrown them out, call them, bet they will work with you. It is worth the try . . .

I don't know if it was the batch I got, but one time I used the Duck brand double sided, and everything kept falling apart:( I LOVE the Scotch brand tape--it's what I almost always use, and I like it better than mono also!

I also use the Scotch brand with the yellow and black wrapper. It is the only thing I use. I buy mine at Sam's Club. That is where I found it to be the cheapest. I have never had a card fall apart.

Yes, Scotch double-sided tape is my primary (and favorite) adhesive! I too buy the multi pack rolls (without dispenser) and put them in a tape dispenser. Not only is it cheaper, but being able to grab a piece of tape with only one hand is perfect when you're stamping.

I buy the rolls at either Walmart or office supply stores, though today I did buy a three pack of the smaller rolls at Joann's with my 40% off coupon. $3 for 750 inches is a decent price.

I've used the Duck brand but always had at least one of the four break. Scotch is my favorite because you can reposition it and I ALWAYS put stuff on crooked the first time!

I use alot of the 3M double-sided tape considering I work I at 3M. Hey, 3M is also in the process of launching a scrapbooking line of products. It will include double sided tape, instant "shaker boxes" in various shapes, various adhesives and glues, and these neat ribbon typing things. I bought them but have not had chance to use it yet. I also use 3M double sided foam tape, craft dots, and other stuff as well.

It works great for me. I even put in on a tape dispenser to make it easier for me to get.
