Question Where to find paint cans at a good price?

OK, for Christmas gifts, I've been knitting scarfs, I'm almost done and decided that a decorated paint can would be the perfect package for these. So I went to Home Depot and then to Sherwin Williams to find that these simple cylinders of metal are over $3 a piece....WOW....that was unexpected. I found a place that quoted just under $2 for the gallon size but was hoping to find something in the $1 - $1.50 range. Where do you all buy your paint cans and how much to they normally cost? I live in Lansing Michigan, if that helps. Thanks, JULIA...

My downline bought hers from Sherwin Williams for $1.49 each...she had to buy them by the case, but she was doing a school project for her son's class.

Otherwise, I've found them at True Value Hardware for $1.48 each.

I got mine at Home Depot in NE Wisconsin for $1.49. That was this summer... maybe early August?? I don't think they were on sale either. It was the regular price. I'm not sure why there would be such a price difference between stores though!

They were $3 at my local Home Depot too. I bought some of the smaller ones to experiment on which were $1.29 each.

I have a friend at work, her sister used to work at a local paint store, had her make a couple calls and she got me the cans with lids and an opener for each for $2.04 plus tax. It's lots more than I would normally spend on my wrapper, but, I think that it will be great fun. I've got 20 of them now. Haven't done any before, hope I enjoy them. Thanks for all the great comments....Have a very Merry Christmas.....JULIA...

ACE Hardward is 1.99 and Home Depot 3.29. I'm in Calif. Bay Area. They look fairly universal in pricing.

I'm in Michigan too and I just got some at my local Ace Hardware for $1.79. I was thrilled because I had just checked at Home Depot and they were $3.00. HTH

I'm in Canada, but they were $3.76 at Home Depot and Kents (Canadian version of HD) they were $4.50. I bought one because I really want to play with one for Xmas, but I sure wish I could find them cheaper!
