What's your favorite color to use as a base for your cards?
Hey ya'll, I'm sure this one has been asked already, but I have been dying to know who loves which color the most for the base of their cards...
I find myself using Basic Black and Chocolate Chip most often as my base colors. I can't wait to see what ya'll think..lol
You mean we are supposed to have a favorite? I find myself using all colors for bases but you asked favorite. It must be a blue. Bordering blue or Night of Navy most likely.

I use whatever color coordinates with the card. I have never thought of using any other color. for example I just made a card that is cert. celery and regal rose so the bas is celery, next layer regal rose, etc...
I made a card 1 time with black and white and white was the color that should have been the base to coordinate best but it felt too flimsy to be a base for a card, maybe I should try the kraft or sahara sand or another neutral the next time but it has to be thicker than the Whisper White or Very Vanilla.
HTH
Hmmm... I'm not sure I have a "favorite" color for my card bases. It just depends on what kind of *look* I want the card to have. Sometimes I use the darker colors, sometimes a lighter - sometimes white or black --
Put me down as "no favorite" -- I shy away from white as a base unless I'm using a particularly style card, such as a small 3 x 3, a fabriano watercolor paper card, etc.

For cards I am selling or giving as gifts, I tend to use Naturals Ivory or White, depending on the card. I just ordered some more Kraft, so I might start using that. For cards I am making for someone (birthday, whatever) I will use a color that coordinates with the card.
I too use whatever goes with the card I'm working on..that being said I'm on a SERIOUS Pretty in Pink,Cho. Chip, WW or VV kick as of late and CC is ALWAYS my base choice!! I think the last 40 cards I've made lately have been in this color combo.....I love it! Maybe because it reminds me of ice cream... lol.
Umm all of them ;) I really don't do card fronts and card bases, the bases of my cards are just made with one of the colors I'm using in my design. I think they look better that way. BUT, I do tend to shy away from the darker colors, it makes writing in the inside so much more difficult. (I know I can always put in a separate piece to write on, but I don't care for that look.)

I do tend to try to stay away from the really dark colors but when it goes with the card as the next obvious color layer I just use the white gel pen or a pretty gold or silver pen on the inside on a dark color and it looks really cool! You should defintely try it
Also, I dont know what is meant by "card fronts", can someone explain this to me? Do you mean like for example, when I get a swap card from someone that has no "insides" that could just be glued onto a card to send out? Interesting;)

When I've heard "card front" I always think it to mean only the front of the card...like if you do a swap for card fronts only, you're just making the card on a 1/4 sheet of paper. In my demo group, we will often swap cardfronts only...it saves paper and still allows for sharing of ideas. If we want to make it into a full card later we can just adhere it on to a full card. Make sense?
I also use what ever cordinates best, so I almost always make them as card front's and attatch to white. If I ever get my paper supply up I'll just use a white jell pen on dark colors and not make card fronts.

I too, usually just use a color that is in my design. If it is a dark color, I'll add a smaller piece of a lighter color inside.
If I had a favorite, it would probably be Bashful Blue, or Mellow Moss.
it really depends on the subject. flowers and spring/summer time stuff tends to be on light colors, other things on dark with a white insert to write on.
No favorites here either. I like to coordinate the color with my design as so many others have said. I find I don't often use white though, for some reason.. not that I'm opposed to it.
I will usually make a card insert out of white paper for the inside if the CS is dark. I think it gives it a nice finished look. Other times I'll use a gel or metallic pen. Depends on how fast I need to get it out.. I'm quite the procrastinator!
I have also made card fronts and glued them to white cardstock, but I find that the front/top of the card will be too heavy in comparison to the bottom.
I like using white, vanilla, and kraft. They generally go with everything. I like to keep a stash of card fronts and prefolded cards and then I mix and match as needed.
My favorite is shimmery white. Other favs include cranberry, cool carribean, kraft and vey vanilla. And I really like how black frames brights and pastels. How can I subscribe to Julie HHR's one layer card thread?

White! I always make card fronts and mount them on white. It is so much easier to write a message on white!
I, too, use a lot of white, and sometimes ivory. Then I make the front whatever color I want. I like the inside to be a lighter color so you can see the writing.
Sometimes I will use a light pastel also if it is appropriate for the card.
