What's the best way to save favs to your harddrive?
After not being able to view my favs today, I've decided to create a file on my harddrive and save to there. What's the best way? Just to save pics? What about directions? TIA!
I copy and paste into Word. I found that it is easier to start the copy from the bottom of the card description and move up to the picture of the card. The "other" cards that are between the sample and description copy over, but you can delete them.
I right click on the larger picture and do Save As...and save it in a folder on my harddrive. Then, I navigate to that folder and right click on the picture and go to Properties. There is a tab that says Summary and I type out the screenname of the person that made it, the colors used and any other useful information. There is a max on characters in that box, so just be careful not to fill it up.

I have a folder in My Documents for SU samples with sub-folders by set. When I decide which SU stamp set I want to use, I can open the folder for that set and get ideas.

I save the picture by right clicking and saving to a cards folder on my harddrive. I use picasa2 to view it, copy the text about who made, what they used, etc., and then paste it in the caption area- program is free- it can sort by card type if you use keywords, or stamp set type, and I can print up the ones that I want, just not the caption- but since my computer is in my stamp room, that is not a problem.
I've saved so many to the hard drive on my computer that it runs slow. When I did a disk scan to see what was up!! you guessed it the files is HUGE. I cant part with them. I just don't know what to do. What to keep what to delete. Boy, life can be tough...

Do you have a CD writing drive? If so, you can just burn copies of the files to CD. My sister had tons of anime downloads filling up her 120GB hard drive, so she bought a spindle of blank CDs and copied her video files to those.
You could always print the pictures, but if you have enough to be bogging down your computer that could add up to an awful lot of paper and ink cartridges!

Just want to forewarn you that if you are working on Windows 98 and go to the Properties Tab there is no Summary button to add your details.
I couldn't add to my summary either and I'm using windows ME. It shows me a summary page but I can't add to it.I finally bookmarked the page on IE till I figure out what to do.
Just thought of something else. The reason I copy over those that I absolutely love is so I can print them and see a hard copy of it that I keep in a file folder right at my fingertips. These would be those that I am planning on making one day!! I send my pictures to SAMS CLUB and they will print them for 18 cents a copy. I figure I can't do it cheaper than that using my own ink and paper at home. If you are a member of SAMS CLUB you can access their little program at www.samsclub.com and download it and then send the pictures you want to print over electronically. They will either mail them or you can pick them up at the closest one and the 18 cents applies to 1 hour processing. I send them over 20 at a time and then print out the directions that I had copied and pasted at home on my own computer. When I pickup my pictures I put the directions behind it and voila!! Remember that sometimes there are links and further directions in the comments and you will want to copy and paste those as well so you have everything you need so scan down through those to see if you are missing something. After I print I then delete the picture from the hardrive to free up space for future ones!!!
For hard copies of cards and instructions from my Favorites, first I right click on the picture and click copy. Then I open up Microsoft Word and do paste. Then I go back and copy the instructions and paste them into the document underneath the picture. I print them out and keep then in a 3-ring binder, so they are right there for inspiration!
