Just wondering what everyone uses to clean their stamps. I was using the Stampinup Stampin Mist (received as gift) and I'm not sure I want to buy more. So I was wondering what you all use? Can you use dish soap and water? Or what other household products might you use?
Thanks
Jenny
The Stampin Mist is great because it cleans your stamps AND conditions them as well. You may want to ask this in the general stamp talk area though....
I make my own from a recipe I got here off of splitcoast. I really like it and gifted it to my stampin-buddies at Christmas time and they really like it too.
I use a 16 oz bottle.
Add 1 oz of scented body mist if you want scent. (my fav is vanilla)
1 oz glycerine ( this can be purchased in the pharmacy dept at walmart. I bought it in a 6 oz bottle for about $4)
1 teaspoonful of clear detergent ( I used ALL clear laundry det.) original recipe called for baby wash
Then add water to fill the bottle (some use distilled, I used tap water.)
This cleans wonderfully and conditions because of the glycerin. For stamps that have been inked in craft or versamark... I spritz them with cleaner and use a toothbrush to clean the crevises and rinse under the tap really quick.
Hope that helps.

I just posted under Generel Stamping Talk. I make mine own with the glycerin plus I also put the recipe for refilling your blender pens. I haven't tryed it yet, but love the cleaner.

stampin mist and scrab pad all the way... conditions and everything ( if i am in a hurry I will wipe quick with a diaper wipe so the ink doesnt stain but still gets misted shortly later)

the in hurry usually pertains to " where did I put my mist and scrub pad, and i need to leave for a birthday in 5 minutes." LoL

I just got some Ultra Clean and it does indeed remove all ink and stains, even old ones. However, it's a bit pricey so I'm "saving" it for my stazon needs etc and using a light spritz of ranger stamp cleaner mixed with water. The water is nice bc it stretches your cleaner and your stamps don't get so "soapy" when you rub.
I use stampin scrub and mist but I feel my scrubs are not getting clean I have residue all the time on my stamps. When I use black I only use stazon and I just feel my scrubs are not clean what can I do for this? I don't have a dishwasher so I use dawn liquid and try to scrub them with my nails to get them clean and I rinse real well any suggestions from anyone? shawnee

I wash my stamp and scrub the same way. If I'm working on a big project or plan on doing a lot of staming and don't want to be bothered washing out my stamp and scrub I just rest my used stamps on a baby wipe, then use my stamp and scrub. This way most of the ink is left in the baby wipe and my stamp and scrub doesn't get all muddied up. Works great for me. HTH
Just in case anyone didn't know this, I'll mention that the stampin scrubs pads pop out and go into the dishwasher or can be rinsed out in the sink with dish detergent, that helps too.
Another emergency/inexpensive alternative to remove stubborn stains, if you can't find Ultra Clean, is the makeup remover I get free with a Clinique, Lancome, or department store makeup sets. I figure if it's gentle enough to wash my face with, it'll be ok for my rubber. If I use this I make sure it's not the separating kind or I shake it up first. I put a little on the side of my SScrub then, then spritz water on the other half to rinse the stamp, then dry on the other side.
I should say that I've been stamping for 11 years and none of my rubber has ever been negatively effected by using the gentle makeup removers (...and I still own ever set I've ever bought!!!).
