Um, I'm sort of new to this whole entire SU concept. I just use their stamps! If you please, what is a convention? Do they discuss techniques? Thanks!

I personally have never been to one, the only way you can go is to be a demo or have a demo invite you. I am planning on going next year and take a road trip with my family from Oregon to Utah! I am looking forward to it.

Thanks! So it's sort of like a show?

Convention is a great place for demonstrators learn new techniques and get ideas to help their business grow. The convention lasts 3 days. There are classes, make and take times, lunch, display boards and lots of freebies. Each year at convention everyone receives a tote bag or backpack with four stamp sets, make and take packet, class booklet, and other freebies. Momento Mall is a place where you can purchase SU Logo items. Since I couldn't go to convention this year, I am really looking forward to next year in Salt Lake City.

No, convention is a yearly business meeting/product training event for SU demos. There are thousands of cards and projects to look at and photograph, and classes that discuss various elements of running your business. It is not intended to be an event attended by customers, just demonstrators. Customers may attend a Regional meeting if invited by a demo, but may not attend convention.

Only demonstrators can go to convention. You can't go to convention if you're not a demo.

I've been to two SU Conventions, a few years ago, and never had so much fun! The ideas you get, both business-wise and creative-wise, are more than you can even imagine. The displays of stamped cards and other items are numerous, to say the least. Stampin' Up! just puts on a quality event, that pretty much sums it up. The employees and demonstrators who are on stage or teaching the classes are so informative and creative and often very funny and entertaining. The SU employees are multi-talented...they might even sing a song after their demo! They usually have great guest speakers and entertainment. And the swapping is something you just have to see and experience for yourself! If you can possibly go, even just once, you would be amazed. Just my opinion!
Denver will be #9 for me. I've been doing SU! full time for 3 years now. No matter how long you've been doing this, you'll still learn something new....many times with who you lunch with!
And there's no place else you can catch this kind of excitement!

I've been to Regionals, but this was my first Convention. It was FABULOUS!! I'm SO going next year, too!!! If you've been thinking about becoming a demo, I suggest doing so before next May (when we can probably start registering for Convention 200. The next year will be SU!s 20th Anniversary, and that convention will probably be an extra-special big deal.
I've never been to an SU convention so I didn't vote, but I did attend one Arbonne convention (which I think would have been similar to what SU calls "Regionals") and it was fabulous! So many ideas for building your business, new product demos, tons of people who are mostly like minded in terms of where they want to go with their business, etc. It was very motivating and energetic!

And that is the "nutshell" word for convention. It is a motivational training session for demonstrators. It concentrates on hands on training in stamping techniques and business and sales techniques. While there are "fun" things, lol, the focus is on business building. (Of course, there are many demos who attend mainly for those "fun" things...free stamp sets, card swapping, and partying!)
It is not intended for customers for that very reason. Why would customers spend upwards of $1,000 to hear about sales techniques or be trained in online aspects such as demonstrator web sites? It would be so much more fun to try and get to a Regional with your demo. They still swap, you still get a free stamp set, make and takes/technique training, etc. Just not all the business stuff. And did I say it was cheaper? Much, much cheaper...$75 I believe.

We have a convention down here dedicated to rubber stamping. SU! and CTMH are both are normally there with a booth. It comes once a year at the beginning of the summer. My SU! demo told me about it. Maybe yours knows of one in your area. I really enjoyed myself at them. I recieved tons of ideas and spent a lot of money because a lot of the items were so unique from what you find at HL & Michaels. But it really was a lot of fun!

Ooh cool about the Arbonne. My friend Lisa has had her Mercedes for a year now and has done amazing with Arbonne. She was at the Arbonne Convention also.

Just curious...I've never heard of Arbonne. Is it a Direct Sales company? What do they sell? Is it just in Canada? I don't know where I got the idea of Canada, but I've never heard of it, so... ;)
Arbonne is in Canada and the USA. I'm not sure what other countries. They sell make-up, skin care products, and if my memory serves me, they also have supplements (vitamins, etc).
