I use watercolor pencils You could buy just the black at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Basic Black is actually a VERY dark purple, so when you add water to it, it lightens. I have tried layer after layer, but it still looks purple, never black.
Try Stewarts (the same company that does Memories ink pads) India Ink Black - it is permanent and watercolors very well!!! The basic black from SU is more purplish and will have a differnent tint when watercolored.

I just use going grey for my tires on the Loads of Love truck. I would not use staz on as a water color because it will stain your brush and i am doubting you would get good results with that. Try the grey

Stazon ink when mixed w/water clumps on your brush. It's a solvent based ink. If you need to clean it off your brushes, the counter, etc. try alchohol. I've had really good luck removing it w/rubbing alcohol.
