Question Using UM SU stamps.. Newbie Question

I have read in several posts that people are using their stamp unmounted. I would love to save storage space and I am wondering how is it that you do this. Do you temporarily mount them like you would the acrylics?

Do you remove the foam or keep it on?

I do the same I use an acrylic block to mount them. And I keep the foam on and use the stickiness to adhere it to the acrylic.

I bought some sheets of 8.5 x 11 vinyl cling on e-bay. I trim my stamps then peel the backing off of the foam (to reveal the sticky part) and stick it to the vinyl cling sheet, then trim that and peel the paper off of the other side of the vinyl and adhere it to my CD cases (with the insert popped out) for storage. I mount them on acrylic blocks to stamp with them.

Check out tsukineko.com I've been pulling mine off the foam pad and using Aileen's Tack It Over and Over on the back of the stamp. Works great because then I mount them on the acrylic blocks. However, now that Tack N Peel is available, it will serve as the cushion for the stamp and I won't have to use the Tack It Over and Over anymore. Plus, once you have Tack N Peel for all your acrylic blocks, you're done buying it. If it loses its stick, wash with soap and water and let it air dry, then it's as sticky as new. This is a fabulous way to mount rubber stamps using acrylic blocks, and so much easier. Then, I store all my stamps in CD cases and put these in RubberMaid Media Boxes, which store about 50 CD cases in a box. The media boxes were $4.88 at Walmart and they are fabulous! Takes up so much LESS room!

okay here's what I do...

I take the stamps when I get them and I take the backing off of the stamp.

I take the image sticker that goes with that stamp and place it on the foam so now I have a stamp with the image on the back (just like with a block only without the block KWIM??)

I trim my stamp like normal.

I coat the foam side of the stamp with Aleene's Tack It Over And Over.

After the adhesive dries I can store it in a CD case or use it on an acrylic block.

I really like to mount them this way so that when they are stored in the cases I can still see what the image is just as if it was on a block, but still have the smaller storage space. I used to pull the rubber off the foam....and now I regret that and want to put those stamps back on foam...more stability with them on the foam IMO.

Thanks for the details that really makes sense to me now! I was thinking they would need the foam, but noticing that the acrylic stamps don't have it.
