ugghhhh ever have one of thoose nights where nothing you try turns out:(
Ive been working on a birthday card for a dear friend. i wasn't thrilled with it but it was ok. I went to add the last element and darned if it just looked like crap. It was a simple cupcake. Ya think Id be able to stamp and color in a basic cupcake right???????
Nope
Not tonight.
So i thought Id try my new nestabilities and make a whole new card (so what that it's already 10:30 at night. lol)- i must not have quite the right sandwich stuff because I couldn't get it to cut through and when it did finally cut- the die shifted and it was crooked. So Back to the original card...I tried 30 different stamps and wound up using a flower which totally doesn't work with the rest of the card but at least i colored it well.
Sigh....And tomorrow morning is her birthday crop. and I really.hate.this .card.
Maybe ill make her one while we are all there. lol Thanks for letting me vent.
One of those nights?? Try one of those MONTHS. :( Sad, but true. Seems like every time I sit down, NOTHING comes out right. So I step away for a few days, then start to feel guilty that I haven't done anything for a while... get back to it, and still... failure after failure. *sigh*
I can commiserate. I'm just wondering when this streak is going to end.........
Do you think that, the longer we stamp, the more we expect of ourselves? A friend visited recently and brought all (literally, ALL) the cards I've made for her. Some were from 7 years ago, when I first started stamped. I was mortified, but at the time I made them I thought they were da bomb. Today if I do one little thing that isn't TADA!!! I think the card is ruined. Maybe we need to lighten up on ourselves and just enjoy what we're doing.

I had the same trouble last night. I had in my head what I wanted to do and everything was going great until I went to assemble and it looked like crap. I finished the card and it's ok, but lacking something. I'm just not sure what.

This is so true! At least the thought was there, right?
And when I find myself in a slump, as opposed to just being too darn busy to stamp, I'll go into my favorites gallery and pick one to try to CASE. You know you start fussing with different colors and ribbons and such and it never is an exact copy, but sometimes that gets the creative juices flowing again.
When that happens to me, I ask my hubby his opinion or walk away if he isn't around. Most of the time he says "It looks fine" but on rare occasions he has a good idea for me to try!
That happens to everyone. When that happens I make a card with a simple layout and stamped animal or flower. I sometimes think I try too hard to make multi-layered cards with lots of embellishments. When everything is going wrong and I don't like the card, I switch to a simple and cute card style.
add me to the list. I just started back into stamping again....I just couldn't come up with a "good" card. When that happens I just walk away for the day and stamp another time. I got into stamping to relax me not stress me. I've also posted some of my not so great cards. I figures someone might like the stamp set, color combo, or something about the card so it might inspire someone even though I didn't think it was my best.
